They are cheap and nasty but if they do they job ok I suppose that is ok?

How are they nasty exactly? Because of the colour?

If they have been proven on club level circuit cars to be perfectly fine then they are fine for anyone else at that level too. Perhaps at the pinnacle/upper end there might be some difference that warrants a price tag 3x the amount.

When you consider what the equivalent Alcon setup costs - you could buy TWO sets of these (say one dies in 3yrs) and still be infront.

Some stuff outta china/taiwan is certainly rubbish and i'd say away too - however the brakes seem to be fine and are in use on a good number of cars doing some very fast times.

I went brand whore with brakes and I regret it.

When I sit and look at what I got for not much short of 5 k for fronts only my arse starts to bleed.

Given the time over and the testimonials of those using the alternatives I would have no qualms in saving a shitload of coin and using them myself.

I have been running the G4 356mm kit on my R33 Gtst circuit car for 4 Years.(running 440kw)

The only thing I didn't like was the supplied brake lines, but i had new ones made up.

I have just replaced the rotors after 4 years of use.

But yes agree - brake lines probably an issue. Most people already have them anyway. I will reuse the ones i have.

Only 12 months with 440, was mostly 300.

I have only ever ran the G4 green race pad. They work really well.

JJap have them in stock - But give me a month, I'm getting pricing for the GB. If it isn't decent/worthwhile then i won't bother.

I also want to get a kit and trial it mself to ensure it fits 100% first from the supplier chosen. Nothing worse than getting them and it's all fked up.

They come with the street pads which are shit, but they also have a race pad.

It's funny. Read through this thread, the people who put shit on these brakes have not used them. Everyone who has used them says they are good, including some really harsh use like rallies and racing. Pretty simple odds.

I always run the supplied pads in mine, I got the kit from Just Jap and they had a choice of street, sport or race pads. I run the race pads on the race car, and sport in rallies or on the street. No problems at all and I still haven't had to replace rotors (I have replaced pads a few times).

will you be fitting them on your gtr nismoid?

id be interested in a GB if the improvement over 33gtr brembos was big enough

DS3000s are really abrasive cold, so even though they bite well, they destroy rotors when used for street. EBC yellows dont bite well cold but they dont eat rotors either. I dont know how they compare back to back for track work, because i've only ever used the golds with my G4 330s (and was happy with them - only about $320 for set plus a little grinder work to make them sit deeper in the caliper so they didnt overhang the rotor).

Well apart from chatter on UK websites from brake specialists they do a pretty convincing job in the brochure that came in the box; including photo's of their CNC mills, brake balancing and durability machines etc at their 13000 square meter factory in Taiwan where they "engineer and manufacture high performance shock absorbers and brake systems"...

So no hard evidence I guess, just lots of very convincing stuff.

I can't comment on the other brands except to say that K Sport seem to rule in the UK and US where D2/G4 don't appear to be as popular.

Either way my new K Sport kit was delivered today and it certainly looks very well engineered & packaged!

I'm happy with what I paid for the kit which was considerably less then the on-line advertised price

I've also got some slotted DBA4000's, Hawk pads and new seal kit for the rears plus RB74 pads for the 8 pots so braking should be well and truly sorted!

FYI - Some one I heard of got the rear K Sport kit as well as front but ended up having to use a brake bias valve to stop the rears locking up all the time so they may be a bit over kill.

I got quoted $4500 at one place for a K Sport full 330mm front and rear kit which keeps the factory handbrake set up but I think it's a bit too much. With the bigger front rotors etc the rears tend to do even less work. Stock size rear rotors, calipers and decent pads should cover it for most street/track purposes at a fraction of the cost.

K-sports/D2 are all the same dude as they come in exactly the same box and so on. You'd take a fair stab it's the same factory.

Do you have hard evidence to suggest otherwise?

Hope you didn't pay too much though (PM me the price if you want). The KSport GB i've been trying to get off the ground looks like it might almost be possible :D

Either way they certainly cannot be beaten for the price.

Scotsman recently did a 1:19 around Sandown with 320rwkw or so and those brakes. Obviously with uprated pads. Proof is right there in my books and he's done a number of track days now without an issue

Well I guess all the research in world can't beat real life experience and I am very disappointed with K Sport.

At the end of the day you only get what you pay for and when it comes to K Sport that means a poor quality product and zero customer service/warranty support even when purchasing through a large retailer such as JustJap

One of the brake rotors supplied had a run out at least 0.1mm (Nissan and K sport both specify 0.05mm is the maximum allowable run out) so after spending hours removing studs and cleaning up the hub assembly asssuming the problem must be with my car I measured the hub which was with in tolerance <0.02mm, marked the high point on the disk rotor, turned it 180 degrees only to find that the high point was still the high point i.e. it was the disk that was out of tolerance!

OK everybody makes mistakes right (although I'd argue that brake component manufacturers do not really have this luxury) so I contact JustJap who are very helpful and organise a courier pick up of the disk and it's return to K Sport.

K Sport call me and I give them a run down of the problem, they say they wil look at it and see what they can do...

A few days later the very same faulty disk rotor that I sent them is returned with; no paper work or any other repair information and the same run out problem!

I am out of pocket $2K, my car has been off the road for over a month and I am f**king pissed off!!!

Your goods are not "fit for purpose" so I suggest you take the kit back to JustJap and get your money back. They have to return your money if i understand the Trade Practices act, or whatever its called these days.

Seems odd to me that ksport got involved with you - IMO you should just deal the JJ. I would insist on that if i were you.

FWIW, I am a happy JJ and G4 brake customer.

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed 
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
