If you have them id say fit them.

OEM dumps are not that bad. Ive tunned engines with them making 320-330 atw's

obviously they are not the best thing but they work.

yeah the std ones are a little restrictive but even cats car made a lazy 330rwkw with the stockies. I prefer to use these, but dont have the cash right now :D ;

the little elbows dont seem to give the same increase as these ones.

Maybe sould have said i have a built engine ie

87mm forged pistons

PAR billet rods

crank crack tested, xrayed and grub screwed

block bored,debrued,and decked

sump inlarged

N1 water pump

N1 oil pump

tomei sump baffles

tomei metal full gasket kit

head was services with bronze valve guids added

tomei oil resistors added

head to block oil returns bored out

N1 hamonic balancer

acl race bearings

nismo AFM

Power FC

Nismo Fuel pump

800cc Sard injectors

Sard FRP

so on

and was having a Hard intercooler piping kit fit, tomei poncams 260in/out

The exhurst is a FULL HKS twin exhurst from the turbos back.

Car only made 301Awkws@18psi with 750Nm on marine dyno. No dumps not sure why the low boost ethier but meh.

I've always found that if you put it of and do it later your only paying again to have the same parts your fitting now removed again to do it later .If you have them fit the while its down will save money later and time wothout your gtr

Uras what brand are those??

Ive seen and fitted a few sets that have been supplied by the customer. I know tomei do them but they look different to those.

Id agree with you they look awesome comapred to any elbow design dump.

The ones URAS posted are the TOMEI Splut GTR Dumps.

I have a set for my own car :D

Absolute mongrel though to fit, i did it motor out... i'd HATE to do it motor in, and i have a less cluttered engine bay in my GTS-R compared with a GTR :)

In car fitting - aarghhh!

I had enough trouble fitting my custom 3" dumps/pipes on the bench. The back nuts on the turbo exhaust flanges are a real pita to get and be sure they are all done up properly.

I know a lot say they can be done in car but I'd really like to watch. With all that swearing and gyrating to reach what you need to get at it would be like watching porn. Oooh (said in a girly voice) that would most likely be gay porn - pass!

They are actualy the trust ones complete with front pipes :)

I have a similar set up as you,but no engine work...stock..except for cams..

Look at the sticky RB26and you will find it...

If I were to have some major work like yours done to the motor...I would be expecting over 350Awkw's.

What turbo are you running....??

If they are stockies...don't bother changing the dumps.

What boost controller do you have....??

What are the cam gears dialed at??

Who did your tune....??

I have boost registering as low as 3000rpm......it is in the tune...dialing of the cams and the dumps help alot...

Ronin....mis-understood you... sorry about that...

I don'y understand why there was an issue of taking the turbos out in the first place anyway? if id bought new hardware it would be going on asap.

if the mechanic is charging to much for this job to justify the minor increase in performance just do it yourself, it's not an overly complicated job...

Anyway lol this topic has been around a while and you have probably (hopefully) fitted them dumps by now!!

Old dyno before cams and exhurst and only 15psi.

New on with cams and exhurst and 18psi.

I am running HKS 2530s as title

Boost controler is Blitz ID3

Cam dial in no clue thats up to Dart automotive the tuner.

They never said it couldnt be done they just said it was alot of money for small gain pulling the turbos out.

Anyway man problem now is that car is maybe a bit too loud with the new exhurst. Dumps are not fitted are just sitting on my desk will be done later down the track or may sell the HKS exhurst and get something thats not so loud.

i'll have my car at greg's soon, you can get a good look at them

Close, they are GREDDY items. Originally designed for thier 700-800hp low mount T618z turbos (im not a fan, to big, too laggy) they found shortcomings with the twin elbow design and they found out that when fitted to the smaller T517z's there was noticeable gain also.

and yes mongrel to fit, but can be done... i dont advise fitting any brand of dump with the turbos inplace. It is a fairly quick and easy job to get the gtr turbos off if you follow a sequence.... definately some tricks of the trade.

Hmm they are rather nice might look into getting a set in to try on my GTR.

There certainly are a few neat little tricks to getting the turbo's on an off quickly. But once everything is removed from around the area its really not hat hard.

Angus smart which GTR is yours?? we see so many of them its next to impossible to keep track of them atm.

I think your cam gears and tuning is your problem...with your set up you should be over 350AWKWS...

You have excessive lag I believe because the exhaust cam is dialled to 0 which works well for stock Turbo's but for 2530's -6 is required.

You have the same AWKW's after the second tune at 100km's an hour than the first tune.........your lag has not improved for street use.

Do you use this car for the track?

Does your car feel responsive?

Your car after these cams should have been more responsive in the low to medium range...

Just my 2c worth...not talking bad about your tuner or anything else...

Cheers

Can anyone comment on the need with the trust/greddy dump front pipes (pictured above) to brace the pipes I think to the bellhousing

am sure I read on here somewhere that without bacing them it can cause drama's with cracking pipes etc

(from memory the pics on that thread were no longer working)

Am hoping to fit these to mine soon but using garret turbos, supposedly that makes the job harder than using trust turbos as well

Should be alot a fun but hopefully worth the effort.

    • Also, I logged some data from the ECU for each session (mostly oil pressures and various temps, but also speed, revs etc, can't believe I forgot accelerator position). The Ecutek data loads nicely to datazap, I got good data from sessions 2, 3 and 4: https://datazap.me/u/duncanhandleyhgeconsultingcomau/250813-wakefield-session-2?log=0&data=7 https://datazap.me/u/duncanhandleyhgeconsultingcomau/250813-wakefield-session-3?log=0&data=6 https://datazap.me/u/duncanhandleyhgeconsultingcomau/250813-wakefield-session-4?log=0&data=6 Each session is cut into 3 files but loaded together, you can change between them in the top left. As the test sessions are mostly about the car, not me, I basically start by checking the oil pressure (good, or at least consistent all day). These have an electrically controlled oil pump which targets 25psi(!) at low load and 50 at high. I'm running a much thicker oil than recommended by nissan (they said 0w20, I'm running 10w40) so its a little higher. The main thing is that it doesn't drop too far, eg in the long left hand fish hook, or under brakes so I know I'm not getting oil surge. Good start. Then Oil and Coolant temp, plus intercooler and intake temps, like this: Keeping in mind ambient was about 5o at session 2, I'd say the oil temp is good. The coolant temp as OK but a big worry for hot days (it was getting to 110 back in Feb when it was 35o) so I need to keep addressing that. The water to air intercooler is working totally backwards where we get 5o air in the intake, squish/warm it in the turbos (unknown temp) then run it through the intercoolers which are say 65o max in this case, then the result is 20o air into the engine......the day was too atypical to draw a conclusion on that I think, in the united states of freedom they do a lot of upsizing the intercooler and heat exchanger cores to get those temps down but they were OK this time. The other interesting (but not concerning) part for me was the turbo speed vs boost graph: I circled an example from the main straight. With the tune boost peaks at around 18psi but it deliberately drops to about 14psi at redline because the turbos are tiny - they choke at high revs and just create more heat than power if you run them hard all the way. But you can also see the turbo speed at the same time; it raises from about 180,000rpm to 210,000rpm which the boost falls....imagine the turbine speed if they held 18psi to redline. The wastegates are electrically controlled so there is a heap of logic about boost target, actual boost, delta etc etc but it all seems to work well
    • hahah when youtube subscribers are faster than my updates here. Yes some vid from the day is up, here:  Note that as with all track day videos it is boring watching after the bloopers at the start.  The off was a genuine surprise to me, I've literally done a thousand laps around the place and I've never had instability there; basically it rolled into oversteer, slipped, gripped and spat me out. On the way off I mowed down one of the instructor's cones and it sat there all day looking at me with accusing cone eyes as I drove past. 1:13:20 was my fastest lap, and it was in the second session, 3rd lap.  It (or me!) got slower throughout the day as it got hotter.
    • It sounds like you want what the Toyota Landcruisers have for their roof racks. Wanna know what you end up with? Rust holes in the roof, and water everywhere...
    • Discovered today that if I select reverse first and take my foot off the brake, then select drive, the drive indicator light works and so does the tiptronic gear indicator.
    • Ok so after much research and talking with knowledgeable people I've got my turbo conversion done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.  Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd. But nothing drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic.  I'm sure there is maybe 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Does anyone here have any ideas?   Cheers guys
