I've been using the ROAM etag for ages now. Mostly on the M7 on the way to WSID which is at least once a week. Automatic top up direct debit type deal. It's all a tax thing for me anyway and the time and lights it cuts out outweighs my resentment of the state govt not doing it in the first place.

i'm telling you people. I use both. RTA and Crosscity tunnel and the CCT one is cheaper and easier.

Lol.. How can it be cheaper when you are paying the same amout for tolls.

Baron have you had your beer today?

RTA one has a larger security deposit which of course you wont be getting back for a very long time. and when I bought them the RTA tag was more expensive too.

Really?

Hmm... I prefer the RTA one just because of how easy it is to claim back the $$$

these are the costs for the CCT one:

i'm pretty sure they are all the same regarding the claim back scheme. but from memory you have to pay $5.5 per quarter to get the claim-back statement. doesn't bother me so much anymore as I hardly ever use the M4 anyway, and it's pretty cheap. now that the M7 is there it's all M2-m7 ;)

I don't think any of the tags are supported for bikes. None of them is waterproof for a start and if you try to attach it to your bike someone might steal it. Maybe I should glue it to my helmet.

I use the RTA one and have done for a long time. It costs nothing more than the tolls you go through even if the thing doesn't beep, you just fax off your number and you're away.

you can ring them and tell them to ad your bike to the list of cars able to use the tag.

Armband hey? Interesting.

Anytime a bank or big company lists a category of fees and then lists the fee as $0.00 you know they are just setting it up for an increase later on.

yeah they will probably increase fees some time. though with all the pounding cct has had the last few years I would say it's a lon way off. and at least if they do jack up fees you can just close the account and go elsewhere. ;)

just checked my account. you don't need the quartley mail statement for the claiming, just the email one which is free.

so basically

no account fee

no security deposit

min balance is $21

min top-up is $70

extra brackets are $2.20

armband for motor bike is free

start-up deposit is only $70

statements for m4/m5 cashback are free by email or internet

no 'admin' charge for the times the tag doesn't work (or you left it at home)

mmm, think I might cancel the old RTA one and make 'em both CCT ones now. so yeah, it's cheaper than the rta one.

Signed up online for a 30 Visitor E-Pass because I don't have a tag and needed to use the M7 twice in 1 day. Then a month later I get 2 bills from M7 for $16ea for avoiding paying the toll, bite me.

I don't have any e-tag because I don't believe in paying tolls, just like I avoid paying for parking like the plague (eg for AutoSalon I park in a back street 1km away and walk it instead of paying $20 for parking and i've only been to Parra Westfields by train because I refuse to park in their for security issues and every back street nearby costs money and i've never parked in the city - train it!).

I already pay enough tax with 3 rego's and fuel and then they want me to pay another tax just to use a road and park as well, bite me again.

Here is a really good website for toll roads and costs:

I just have this to say...

I work for a particular tolling company (that is not ROAM Express) and I have a Roam EXPRESS novo tag (one of them little ones, the size of a tic tac container). IMO they have the most reliable billing/tolling systems.

cheers, Sasha

they all work the same (or should)

just the fees and charges vary between providers...

generally speaking, if you're on a direct debit (credit card or bank account), and you've paid a deposit on your tag, you should have no on-going costs other than the tolls.

the novo tags are the shiz... strongest signal and the lowest percentage of non-registers.
