hi,

just wondering what you peeps out there do to get rid of any annoying interior squeaks and noises?

I have a couple, and firstly, find them hard to pin point and second have no idea how to get rid of them.

I have an R34 and the area around the top guage cluster has a bit of a creak to it, not sure where exactly.

just wondering if anyone has any processes they use to elimante unwanted noises, or if anyone knows of any common causes for the squeaks, etc...

cheers

yeah its a bitch aye. Try taking off the interiour panel and putting a really thin sheet of foam/sound deadening under it. Or maybe a drop of silicone over the metal clips so they dont vibrate

I always try and push on everything at different points while it's rattling.. see if I can narrow it down to the bit of plastic, panel, etc that is moving around. Often it's just a screw undone..

After I've found it I'll shove a bit of folded paper in there, or obviously replace the screw.. generally I'm pretty successful at getting rid of them on most of the cars I've had.

yeh bro ive got an r34 n somewhere in the back seats where the plastic overhead things are theres a major squeak noise everytime i go over bumps..n it also comes n goes..

some days its nice n quiet and some days u just wanna rip the interior out

whenever I turn up the stereo my splits make an annoying vibration noise in the rear parcel shelf.

Not sure if it's the plastic brackets or the speakers, but it's very annoying, anybody got any tips?

^ so Porshe's come with felt tape from the factory?

felt tape.... silicone stuff... foam deadening.... paper :) - some good things in here

i've got one "creak" on my drivers door, in the cloth/fabric section (under the window) how would i get behind there? take the whole door trim off? i've NEVER dismantled any trim before, is it fairly easy to do?

it is. just remember to go slow the first time, be careful and make sure you are applying force in the right spots. once you've done it once it becomes a lot easier. try to be even in you pulling too. if you are bending things that arent meant to bend, you are gonna do damage.

EDIT: re reading that bit of advice, i rekon that it can be applied in a totally different "first time" situation too :D:(

That's pretty true. I don't remember or wouldn't have noticed on our old 320i, 528i. But the 530i i believe is squeak free, the 335i has a little one that's popped up (and considering it's less than half a year old, that's not too good) but the suspension is much harder. The 318i has a few noises.

i think the stiffness of the suspension plays a huge part. The stock R34 suspension i find is actually quite stiff, or the shocks are crap, or something, i dunno.

I have an annoying creak in the passenger side inner rear trim, the one that runs along the top of the rear window and down...

Ive tried squeezing silicon filler in there, and still no dice.. If I knew how to remove the bloody thing I could get in there and take care of it properly! Anyone happen to know how these panels come off?

my door tirm has the sounds..

if i press down or put my arm on the door trim while im driving it crys out like a pig...

same as passenger side door trim..

and also if i press down the back seats, it makes metal scripping sounds... i think its because of bushes... anyway...

i have to dissemble those trims and put somethings between connections.... i hate that noise....

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
