bd4s went out of business about a month ago, although tom (i think thats his name) who owns the property and the dyno is still doing tunes and selling parts,

ive had all my work done there now i dont know where to go, can any one recommend some where good for a turbo upgrade around the same area

Yeah, I had some work done by them, good services, good facilities and Tom is a nice guy too.

What sort of problems anyone know? hopefully not with hks, aren't they the only hks pro dealer in nsw? is someone else taking over the hks business?

yes, and how would you know they overcharge if you have never been there? get a grip. BD4s have been in the modern performance car game for probably the better part of 15 years. actually probably more than that. it's a shame they are gone.

quotes my friend... i never went through with anything though...

friends did, they had a larger pocket then me, and were happy with the work

just my personal observation... freedom of speech states im allowed to voice it :(

certainly. and BD4s are allowed to call it libellous and try punish us in a court of law. and then I'll remind you there is limits to freedom of speech, and that what you say (well type) on this forum has to be within it's rules (and the rule of law in our country). and in this case I'm the judge, jury and executioner. this forum is not australia. or america. or dr-doofs utopia. it's SAU and it's a dictatorship and the admins are it's dictators.

all that aside I just thought it was a useless post. why you'd want to bad mouth a business that has closed down is beyond me. particularly as you never had any work done there. quotes are one thing, you claimed they overcharge which is pretty hard to gauge unless you've had work done, and been charged for it. which you haven't.

they were definately an asset to our scene and prices being high or low is pretty subjective. I can change turbos for $50 by removing the old one with a sledge hammer and installing the new one with cable ties. or someone else can do it properly for $500. if you got the two quotes you might think my 'turbo replacement' quote sounded reasonable. afterwards you'd wish you went and spent $500 doing it with the other guy.

FTR I've never had any work done at BD4s ever and I've only dealt with them once, but it was a good experience. so I can't comment on their price vs quality. but I have seen the work they do and it was good. and the service they gave me was also very good.

come now... i thought the club and the forums were seperate :(

also, all that was unnecessary, i have also seen the work they did, they were pioneers, leaders in the business, doing what others couldn't... i never said their work was shonkey, i basically said im a tight arse...

didn't have to go all lawyer on me :(

Pm also sent :P

yeah I'm talking purely about forum here. SAU is the forum. SAU NSW is the NSW club. I'm an admin of the forum, but hold no office, or power in the club. currently we are posting on the fourm. it's run by admin.

but dr-doof is right i got a bit carried away. slow afternoon and my arthritis is playing up.

but it is the task of mods and admins to protect the forum owner from any possible claims. which is why sometimes we may seem a bit draconian, but actually we are just protecting our greatest asset (Prank) who started the forum and runs it for us out of his own time and money. :(

The workshop part is going to be sold from what Tom was planning, but Tom is keeping the Dyno room, office etc for selling parts and dyno tuning.

Paul and Tom went their own separate ways in the business (BD4's).

There is going to be a name change for the new business.

    • I mean it's a bit late to say "This won't have any tangible effect and it is not worth spending more than about three seconds on it, please just enjoy the car" But I said it anyway. Does the pod actually get any airflow in that position behind a bumper like that?
    • Hey guys - apologies for digging this up. Has this website been shutdown or is the outage temporary?
    • So, went shopping at Just Jap for things that might work for the intake  After some trial fitting there I ended up with a 3" x 45° silicone bend, a 3" x 300mm alloy straight, and a humped joiner, some minor trimming will be required to shorten some of the stuff, but nothing that is beyond my "ham fisted" skills The guy at Just Jap was most helpful as we had all sorts of joiners,  bends and stuff out trial fitting  Laying it out above the stuff in there it seems everything will fit nicely, and looking at it, it is probably the way I should have been looking at doing it from the beginning, probably..... In the end it is a front bar off job anyway to remove the original stuff behind the front bar that is taking up the required realestate needed, so maybe a Thursday or Friday job And because I'm a hopeless consumer, I grabbed some new steel wheel nuts, the current ones are a spline drive type with a "security" socket, that somehow someone keeps misplacing, the new ones are a basic black steel 17mm hex socket In other news: I just did my "final" tax return, I am now officially a old retired veteran pensioner, and I'm milking the system for all it's worth,  life is good
    • I hadn't thought about the variable power steering assist. Presumably, it will always be the same level of assist as you get in an S14. The R32/3/4 are either helliishly heavy (at low speeds) if the solenoid is not powered at all, or hellishly too light (at high speed) if it is powered all the time. I presume that it is PWM controlled on those cars. I hadn't thought about the S cars not having variable assist. ugh. What crappy plebby cars they must be!
    • Hmm yeah that is a good point. It looks like it'll just bolt in with no real issue besides maybe the bushings being different. My other concern was that 2 pin plug that I assume is used in some way to control the rack solenoid depending on the speed signal from the ecu. The DMAX rack doesn't even have that plug though so, don't think it'll matter. Might just order the rack and see how it goes. Will update this when I figure something out
