hey guys.

got pulled over tonight, had my p's for 3 years, driving r33 rb25det atm, copper said he's fining me for driving high performance vehicle, argued with him for over 30mins, explaining ive had my license before the law was issued, and im due for my blacks now, just havent had the time to go get them, he wasnt even high patrol, i said mate, "so all the people who have purchased high performance and had there Ps before the law came out have to sell there cars and not drive them?" he said yes and ill recieve my fine in the mail, didnt give me it on the spot, 390 and 7 points, i currently have 1 point remaining, untill my blacks, it was not only 1 cop, i had 4 of them going at me, a whole car load, i think must be newbies training

ive searched all over the forum and i do believe this doesnt affect me as ive had them before the law and the car, ive been on rta for an hour trying to find it, cause im gunna have to dispute this fine, but all im getting on RTA is a list of cars that is banned etc, anyone have anything solid so i can dispute this s**t

would be greatly appreicated :nyaanyaa:

nah man doesnt state anything? ive been on rta site looking for the thing saying "licenses obtained from july bla cannot have high performance vehicle" i checked it before buying the car so this exsact s**t wouldnt happen, now cause of these clueless cops, i got hassels i dont need.

Im the same as you mate, only im still on my p's(red p's)

I did my research too, plenty actually before i bought my line.

Even the RTA said it was fine when i went to get my licence back

ive been pulled over a couple of times and have been asked about it, they did all their computer checks etc

ive always come out fine.

If your licence has no restrictions printed on the back then it will be exactly the same on the RTA computers and the fine has no grounds at all.

Call up the police station and explain it to them, ask them to check their database.

Just so you can rest easy

lol Got a picture of the fine? I wanna see! :nyaanyaa:

I guess they weren't aware of the conditions. Contest the fine and go from there, as you do have a legitimate reason to contest it.

"The prohibited vehicle condition restricts provisional (P1 and P2) drivers from driving certain high performance vehicles. The condition applies to provisional licences issued on or after 11 July 2005"

http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/licensing/gettin...ons.html?llid=4

I think once they write up the infringement it's in the system so you'll have to contest it.

ps. You dont goto your "blacks" anymore. The colour scheme doesnt mean anything. Once you sit for the Full Unrestricted Licence you can choose to get 1 year (black coloured I think), 3yrs (dont remmeber) or 5 yrs (gold licence). All dependent on how much you want to pay.

thanks guys, and thanks d00dz for the link mate :P

yeah nothing on my license accept driving something over 4.5tonne lol

its not that im worried, its just the fact now i have to muck around for an idiot

np.. :nyaanyaa:

Yes it's a hassle, but with all these new resitrctions on L's P1's P2's and rider, it's hard to keep track of what is the law, esp when people like you have P's prior to all these ammendements. The GD cop (assuming it was) shoulda radio'ed the radio or asked to speak to his supervisor or hwy unit on a back channel for their advice before issueing the fine. Oh well, shit happens.

Hope they compensate you for loss of work or time etc..

Heck remmeber that judge who tried to sue the dry cleaners in America? Tried to sue for them losing his pants saying it caused him emotional stress lol.. (he lost btw)

PS. You also have a 0% BAC limit on your L/P1/P2 this is not written on the back of your licence. It probably says the old 0.02 limit BAC.

Write a letter to address on the back, inform them of the mistake and include documentation to back up your side of the story.. It will take about 2-3 months for them to reply when they do im sure you'll be cleared. In this period until you pay the fine (which you wont) the fine is on hold and you keep your points.

Without restrictions on your licence you cannot be fined for HPV.. ive got a year left and driving a GTT..

Just on the subject.. Red P platers cannot have any performance mods done to the vehicle now .. just so you all know.. that means no exhausts apart from stock .. and chris another bloke on here already felt the wrath of that law.

take em to court! im one greens and dont have the restriction either and have been pulled over a few times recently and never had an issue about that.

if you dont dispute this your an idiot

wat a tool ^^ im on greens but restricted ;[ sucks but i have a note on my back of licance so if it dont say that fine is void ;] XD

haha u should of just said yeh oki and forget the fighting when u get fine go show ur licance etc and then it all cleared:P why argue over there f ups :D

Must be newbies or something.

Then again I had some really stupid things said by cops about my n/a 33. (Pod filter = blow off valve) etc.

You would of thought as soon as there isn't a "Y" condition on your licence, everything would of been fine.

I dont want to sound silly (( WHICH IS VERY EASY FOR ME)) But cops are human and by the sounds of it this person is was not fully trained in High way Patrol What you need todo is Contact the police staion and speak to a SGT in the Highway Patrol or at least someone in High way Patrol and ask them about the fine give them the name on the fine or Badge number if that was used.

They should give you a explentaion on what will happen but it sounds like you will need to go to court as you believe you are in the right.

Last point Get of your bum and get your Blacks

i was about to loose my licence when i was on my p's.. double demerits and i think i went thru a speed camera slowly could have been 5-10 but i wasnt too sure, facing me and i saw a flash.. its now been a month and still no fine.

tho i got off my ass and got my full licence just incase was going to test a loop hole but i've not received fine so nothing to worry about.

i beleive they banned cars a few years back.. when i first regesterd my skyline but i didnt have a problem as it was just at the very beginning.

never had a hastle with police about it. i'm sure you'll be fine

holy shit. 7 points and $390!!! that is pretty serious penalty considering red Ps can only accumulate a max of 4 points and green ps a max of 7 points. so basically if you get caught driving a banned car on either red or green ps you loose your licence. thank god they didn't have any of this when I was on ps.

i sorted it, rang the police, nothing is coming in the mail.

the guy had no idea, i know its not his fault he is under trained, the thing that was so annoying, it was a car load of them, saying that im wrong, and when 4 cops start saying it, u just think about the 7 points off your license lol.. but they shouldnt even pull me over if they have no idea

What a Joke...

And you said there was 4 cops,so thats 4 police on our roads who have diddly squat idea about P plater restrictions but still go around harrasing drivers and handing out fines.

Thats just pathetic.

Did you atleast get an apology?

    • I think the concept is highlighting the various scenarios where thicker oil helps, and thicker oil potentially doesn't help and only generates heat and costs power, in turn for safety which isn't actually any safer (unless you're going real hot). If anything this does highlight why throwing Castrol 10w-60 for your track days is always a solid, safe bet.

    • Yep, if you are applying filler it sounds like there is something wrong with the body lol. Safe to assume there is going to be a lot of sanding going on if your still applying fillers.  Picture a perfect bare metal panel, smooth as glass. You lay down your primer, it's perfect. (why are you going to sand it?) You lay down the colour and clear, it's perfect. No sanding at all took place and you've got a perfectly finished panel.  You won't be chasing your tail, sounds like you were prepping to start laying filler. If your happy with the body after the sanding, there is some bare metal exposed and some areas with primer, no issues at all, start laying the filler. You are safe to lay filler on bare metal or primer (of course check your technical data sheet as usual for what your filler is happy to adhere to).  This isn't a 100% correct statement. There is primer that is happy to adhere to smooth bare metal. There are fillers that are happy to adhere to smooth bare metal. Just make sure you're using the right materials for the job.  Typically if you are using filler, you would go primer, colour and clear. I've never seen any instances before where someone has laid colour over body filler (maybe this happens, but I haven't seen it before). So your plan sounds pretty normal to me.
    • I don't think there's any way someone is push starting this car.. I honestly can barely move it, and moving it and steering it is just flat out not possible. I'm sure it is, but needs a bigger man than me. I have a refurbished starter now. The starter man was quite clear and consise showing me how nothing inside a starter really should contribute to slow cranking, and turned out that for the most part... my starter was entirely fine. Still, some of the wear items were replaced and luckily it didn't show any signs of getting too hot, being unfit for use, etc. Which is 'good'. I also noticed the starter definitely sounded different, which is a bit odd considering nothing should have really changed there.... Removed and refit, and we'll pretend one of the manifold bolts didn't fully tighten up and is only "pretty" tight. GM only wants 18ft/lb anyway. I also found a way to properly get my analog wideband reading very slightly leaner than the serial wideband. There's Greg related reasons for this. The serial output is the absolute source of truth, but it is a total asshole to actually stay connected and needs a laptop. The analog input does not, and works with standalone datalogging. Previously the analog input read slightly richer, but if I am aiming at 12.7 I do not want one of the widebands to be saying 12.7 when the source of truth is 13.0. Now the source of truth will be 12.65 and the Analog Wideband will read 12.7. So when I tune to 12.7 it'll be ever so slightly safer. While messing with all of this and idling extensively I can confirm my car seems to restart better while hot now. I did add an old Skyline battery cable between the head and the body though, though now I really realise I should have chosen the frame. Maybe that's a future job. The internet would have you believe that this is caused by bad grounds. In finding out where my grounds actually were I found out the engine bay battery post actually goes to the engine, as well as a seperate one (from the post) to the body of the car. So now there's a third one making the Grounding Triangle which is now a thing. I also from extensive idling have this graph. Temperature (°C) Voltage (V) 85 1.59 80 1.74 75 1.94 70 2.1 65 2.33 60 2.56 55 2.78 50 2.98 45 3.23 40 3.51 35 3.75 30 4.00   Plotted it looks like this. Which is actually... pretty linear? I have not actually put the formula into HPTuners. I will have to re-engage brain and/or re-engage the people who wanted more data to magically do it for me. Tune should be good for the 30th!
