Everyone talks about HKS GT-SS and 2530s etc etc but there isnt much information going around about the Apexi equivelant turbos. The STIs are decent enough things using IHI turbos, turbocharged competition cars use IHI turbos and even Nismo used IHI turbos on the Z-Tune. So is it the price that means noone uses the AX53B60s or is it the fact they dont work all that well.

Any info would be appreciated

in my opinion, from personal experience a ax43b70-p25 makes as much if not more power than a 2540 and less lag than a 2530.

if i was going to put low mounts on a gtr i would definatly hit up either the 60's for response or the 70's for power.

people are just ignorant and believe that HongKongSpecial turbos are the best

^^^ HPI seem to sway people towards lots of stoopid shit :P i remmeber bringing in the first RX6 kit for RB25 many moons ago and coping heaps from everyone..... it was an animal.. so much so that the dude stacked it and the kit got fitted to the JMS red R33 (recently martini/ PPG drift car).... then it became one of the most recommended kits around..... funny how mag coverage can cause sensations....

now after much playing i reckon T67 8cm is the way to go on Rb25.

On 26 i like my baby T517z's or single Td06sh-25g's and RX6, i have not had the pleasure of playing with the AX's.... people are just too tight nowadays :nyaanyaa:

Just thinking well ahead. I saw some going for a reasonable price and was going to pick them up. But decided against it, need to get the suspension sorted first. And i doubt i will ever need to replace the RB20 in my car. The thing just wont quit and is still making good power

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
