was that a spray can or compressor and spray gun job on the interior dane?

i did mine (all the interior and cage) with a pressure pack (matched to factory code)...

That came up well Stu. Some nice prep work

Spray can my friend. It all turned out pretty well, bar the rear guards because I was too lazy to get all the glue off... oops :(

Gts30: An hour? Nice one! I bought maybe 4kg's for the rear seats forward, and then did the tranny tunnel with a heat gun, same with the rear guards. Would have been easier without the cage in there, and at my premesis instead of a workshop with limited light/time.

Ben: Do it! Would look tough as nails. Are you putting GT-R guards on?

Fark yeeeeeeah maaaaaaaate *throws can*

That is just about THE s15 as far as im concerned.

Funky, ok maybe 2 hours tops, I had also already done the back wheel arches and where the seat would go with the heat gun. Im painting the cabin and boot the same color as the rest of the car over xmas.

Tough as nails that S15!

I'd love to say i am putting GTR bits on it, but I don't think the rules allow, and its just more expensive when it goes into the scenery. And it already owes too much. Shoulda known, no such thing as a cheap race car.

Just finished putting the cooler on though :( Awesome hey! lolol

yeah, I'm cutting more reo......

update on my engine hopfully be done this week  then should be getting new seats and cage put it; if everything goes to plan should hit the track in dec so i can get a time and start tuning up the suspension

Also had the car up on the hoist and found that some sections of the exhaust were very very average on joining/welds; so redoing the exhaust, hopfully net me afew more hp

that is a seriously tuff s15. when i was thinking flat black there is apparently a clear flat that they put on over the top layer of black and it doesn't suffer finger prints etc so no need to repaint all the time. i only wanted to do it this way else it would look crap pretty quick i reackon as flat black dis-colours with uv light.

marlin - you're a reo

Cheers Matt.

Stu: That would be pretty sweet, I dig satin black a lot. I think if I ever had to repaint my whole car I'd do that... or Gulf livery :P But let's hope it doesn't come to that anytime soon

Also, I put someone on to you about some Bmax's from NS.com, so he should be contacting you soon.

Mick: That'll look good mate. I'm glad mine is done though, prepping and painting sucks :)

Ben: Does it do chirpies in second now?

nice. :P is that my old head?

Anyone know any fabricators who would want to make this for me? I had one lined up for the last two months, but it's just fallen through... doesn't need to be exactly the same, just a box with a perspex lid on it for my fuel system.

ASE-FUELSAFE3.jpg

Dane, you should try ASE in adelaide...

I had my custom catch can done by them, they also make the overflow bottles...

tidy work, i doubt a one off item will be super cheap though...

alternatively, if you made a cardboard template first, almost any fitter and turner/engineering place would be able to make it for you quite cheaply...

eg:

http://www.truelocal.com.au/business/i-and...ty-ltd/richmond

A friend of mine has a cousin that works at the place in that link, they mainly do large scale jobs.

He may be able to do it on the side, as in after hours type of thing.

(although turn around time is usually slow for that type of thing)

I can put you on to him if you want... pm me.

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
