Hey thanks all! :)

Really happy with the final wash-up given the conditions. Was quite pissing down for half the rally - especially on the whole last day which meant we decided on playing safe to protect 2nd place rather than having a crack at 1st at the end (Given we were on hard tyres and the guys in front and behind us were on wets). Although Uncle Fester (Beaumont) did try his best to hand us the event on Day 2 - watch out for the coverage on Chanel 9 in a few weeks for that one. But overall it was an awesome event. Doing things like 4th gear slaloms was quite a buzz :(

Met heaps of great people over the weekend and the level of competition over in W.A. was much much higher than I probably initially thought. I know speaking to some of the guys that have done all 3 events this year said W.A. had by far the highest level of competition at the pointy end so far. But I'm expecting Vic to be even tougher and I can't wait to see how the GT-R goes. I actually think it might be a slight advantage over the EVO given the boys we were chasing had a clear stright line advantage that won't be there for them with the GT-R (e.g in the 1/8th mile drag (200m) they were nearly a whole second faster than us.)

So Bring on Vic ;)

Some quick pics I've found from AHG on Saturday.

Gav in his sweet R32 copped the same conditions as I did out there. Not easy I can tell you.

In the end these boys were just too good (again)

The Team Wang Subaru! Brendon also won the drivers comp outright.

The Team Wang 996TT! These boys also took out the Rookie Crew Outright award. Team Wang sure did prepresent over in W.A.

Thats all for now.

Chris told me it was good practice for you getting 2nd, since you'll have to settle for 2nd again in Vic Dutton... ;)

haha well done, it's gotta be hard to keep the consistency up all weekend... even more so if it was wet.

It's going to be a cracker for sure. Although Chris holds on too tight and will put himself out of contention in no time. The one thing I learnt from last year is it is damn hard to win one of these things but it is really easy to lose one in a few moments of madness. So in Vic I'm sure Chris will have some great moments but eventually he'll throw it away.... :glare:

lol, I think you've confused fast with fun snowboy. it may not be fast in the wet, but it certainly would be fun. that is if near death experience with every throttle jab is your idea of a good time! people driving evos wouldn't understand... :( ok maybe your right, it would be more brown pants than it would be fun.

Hey crew, thanks for all the words of encouragement and support. Looking forward to catching up in Vic. Was a tops weekend although Snowy did suck the wang a little and needed a few hugs after hitting cones, but to be honest I sucked more. Interesting that he beat me in the 8th mile sprints. Always more fun when its not your car. Looking forward to the 800's in Vic. The GTR is evil and must be punished. Hopefully its not going to be a 3....2...1...ra ra ra ra ra......Go......BANG!!! weekend. (Ask Snowy to explain... :( ) The R's reliability has been a bit questionable. Sending over the super reliable backup evo has been talked about. :) Should be a mad weekend at the end of the Month. Look out Scotsman and Newton. You know teh R34 GTR can nevar lose!!! Besides, money can't buy talent, but it can buy horsepower, and sometimes thats enough!!! :D Go Team Darksnow!!!

Cheers,

Blaise

Thats cool! You had a ball and picked up some silverware to boot. I will grab a case of Abbotsford and watch watch Puff the Magic Dragon and Co. vs The Spinning Scotsman and Co. Its going to be piss funny to watch come the Vic Round. :)

LOL..who knows, since i jsut picked up a nice bonus i may even have the cash to enter ????

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
