Finally fitted the plenum to my car. It went on the same time as a Hybrid intercooler kit, and GFB plub back BOV.

It was a bit of a drama to fit, but I think it was well worth it in the end.

Here's a couple of pics:

It definitely doesn't feel any laggier than before. The large throttle body does make it feel more responsive, as it now takes less throttle position to have the same effect as the stock one.

Hopefully I'll have it on the dyno (to get re-tuned) sometime this week, so I'll let you know what numbers it puts down.

Interesting throttle body, where did you pick that up from?

I purchased it as a package (along with the plenum) on ebay. I had my choice of 80mm, 90mm or 100mm!!! I decided to go for the 80mm option, as the others seemed like overkill for the power output I'm after.

The car seems to be idling and starting better than it did with the standard throttle body. So I have no complaints.

I've had a read through the 'how to' guide for the Greddy copy plenum, and it seems like the issues I had to overcome on fitting this plenum, are very similar to what he had to go through when fitting the Greddy one.

I highly recommend this plenum and throttle body as an alternative to Greddy's plenum (or copy).

Did you have to muck about to fit the tps or did it bolt up? I've seen the TB's on ebay and often wondered if it would work

Very interested to see a before and after dyno.

Yeah we did have to modify the TPS, as the one I was sent suits other Nissan models (like pulsar) but not mine. I emailed the guy about it, and he said it was his mistake for not asking what engine model I have - so he's sending out the correct one.

Will post up the dyno results later this week (if I can get in to see the tuner).

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get in to see the tuner this week, and I'm going away for work this weekend, so I won't be able to get it re-tuned for a while.

What I can say though, is that I have gained some low end torque (which was completely unexpected)... My GT-RS now builds positive boost at just below 2000 rpm (in the taller gears) - about 500 rpm earlier than with the standard plenum. Even without the re-tune, this plenum is an awesome improvement.

I know of a certain 2JZ with a KU engineering Plenum and TB making 430rwkw, And a GTR that went 2seconds faster a lap (Mallala) after installing one. I am also looking at using one for my RB31DETT.

FYI

RB20, RB25 use the std runners

RB26 have KU Engineering cast runners to replace the throotle bodies

Sorry for the lack of updates, I've been unable to get on here for the last 6 months or so...

When the car was dyno tuned, it made 240 rwkw at 17psi - Which should equate to about 260rwkw on Unique Autosports dyno. As with my previous dyno tune when I went from my tuners dyno to the Dyno day at Unique it made about 10% more power.

It is a dream to drive, even on low boost (12psi) the car is a missile. I would recommend this upgrade to anyone.

If you use msn his email address is: [email protected] and his name is Jack, I bought my rb20 intake firstcly with him he also supplied me with a rb26 fuel rail and custom adapters to suite the rb20 mounts.

Nice guy pleasure to deal with :D

hey guys sorry for bringing up an old thread but I've done some searching on here and I didn't want to pester everyone by kicking up another new thread.

I asked about a greddy style plenum on here not too long back - I got a reply from a company called performance-wise. I've dealt with this chap a few years ago and bought a PowerFC for my first 33gtst at a great price.

anyhow I got a pm for a greddy style plenum from this chap - I tried putting up the pic but it wont let me strangely so here's a link...

$460 shipped from uk - seems like a great price but my question is would it cause any issues? I've heard all kinds of thoughts on proper Greddy/Trust ones vs copies. I have to say I doubt theres any blinking difference, but seeing as you guys have tinkered with these cars over there far more than us backyard enthusiasts have here.

I'd appreciate your thoughts on this - I cant afford a true Trust/Greddy one (are they the same company?) so a copy would have to do but would I be looking at any tinkering/butchering to get it to fit?

thanks!

so its been a couple of years now and i am curious to see how many people run these plenums now

it seems they are also catering for neo engines which is good as genuine and fake greddys do not alot neo owners to use all the standard idle control etc

any updates would be awesome!

I running one now, and a guy around the corner from me was running one on his 25/30 and the guys at EFI in QLD were suprised at how much torque it was making. He selling it and a throttle body too suit in the for sale thread is anyone wants one.

    • Ha ha, yeah, I've had one following me around in my parts boxes since about 2007 I believe. Just a little iddy bit hole drilled in the one I have to let it vent out once pressure was removed from the engine side. Still no idea what I'd put it on, ha ha.
    • Just read this... Just a little bit of a wild one! Do you think the driver was testing out a new feature/device for how to lose the cops in a high speed chase?   I also suspect, if the box has a road sweeper that does magnetic metal pick up, he does a LOT of work in the machining industry. Which is what most of that looked like, machining chips from a mill or lathe. And I bet they're RAZOR sharp! And from an environmental perspective they really do need to actually collect all of those little pieces too. I wonder how many people still cop flat tires over the coming months on that road?   As for insurance company, yeah, it'd be interesting to hear what they say to the owner. But realistically, he's right, that "It's his fault". In the way that, it was his truck that spilled it, so they need to clean it up. However, neither he, nor his insurance company may bear the end cost if they do an investigation and find out it was caused by someone elses negligence (And they know who)...
    • Yeah, no matter what bad things people can say about Julian from Autospeed, he at least was capable of thinking and his inclusion of a check/relief valve in the plumbing for the Audi boost controller, that I made a copy of and used for years**, completely eradicated that problem. **It's still lying on my workbench where I put it about, um, 18 years ago and have never found a home for it!
    • I didn't actually know this! I've seen photos of the H1, mainly outside shots, and they just look "different". I guess there'd be a few little changes like nicer rims, and probably the fact they have nicer looking paint with some depth and shine, which will make any vehicles body look different to the very flat colours of the defence force.   I've watched the guys on GHPC convert their Humvee to LS1, and they've done some really nice front shock upgrade. I'm waiting for the next video on it with the rear end done. I can't remember if they've already done it, or I dreamed it, but I believe they're also supercharging theres. They will be in the future doing proper long travel suspension too.   If you ditch out your big V8, as rubbish as it must be, send it to my place. I'll let the unreliable V8 motor and box be here. I just like V8s... So I'll find something to do with it... Even if that something is just taking up valuable space in the yard. I might have something Skyline I can send back in payment... Or even Ford Barra motors  (From memory you're in Canada yeah?) So you can then play with the legendary Aussie 4L version of an RB...  Except they don't have that distinctive random miss at idle like the RB25 does.
    • Or you mean the age old problem of early 2000's manual boost tees, where they never let the pressure out of the line between the boost tee, and the waste gate, so after your first trip on boost, the damn wastegate liked to stay open and be laggy on gear change?
