i gave them a ring, gave me the best quote i had recieved.

then they told me it was a wrong quote and it ended up being 2400...for a stock S1.

wasnt even paying that much for my old modified r32...

and they werent nice to me as well.

but hope all ends up being good for you, i have been dicked around by insurance companies so many times...

and the quote u got, was pretty much exactly the same as what i got. how old are you?

I'm 26 years old, and they gave me 65% no claim, with lifetime protection. Like I said, shannons was cheapest originally, but they had stupid restrictions (and do with anyone) like they go door knocking if your car is stolen around your neighbourhood to see if anyone has seen the car parked on street or in the driveway, and don't pay out if anyone has.. (direct from the shannons rep)

they said that they will insure a s2 99 but not a 2000. I expaned to them that they are the same car, but that didnt seem to matter as apparently there are not enough s2 2000 models in Australia for there requirements. Just cars quoted me $1158 so i guess i will be going with them.

Exactly the same thing happened to me when I got mine in December. /cry

Cant see that stacking up too well if you dispute it.

Yeah, I don't think my neighbours would be too credible or even willing to testify to something that bizarre... Sounds like an urban legend to me. I'm with Shannons and I'm happy. They gave me a better price on my second car than my insurance broker could get, so they are actually saving me money from that point of view.

I have to say, I'm happy with Shannons so far (thanks to _8OO5TED_), but it would be interesting to see a comparison of how much the different insurance companies try to "get out of paying up". I was under the impression that Shannons were good in this situation - they payed up more than the others, but if they try and get ouf of paying because of some dumb loopholes here and there, that kinds sucks..

GIO would not insure my stagea as i had imported it myself via J-Spec. I could not convince him that it was no different to a car from a dealer as still complianced the same way. I think they are still figuring out what the hell they are doing :)

Shannons were easy, $1180 a year with 24yo missus listed for a 1997 S1 at $15k agreed value.

Still paying $930 per year through Just Car for a '97 S1 at agreed value of $20,000 all mods listed and rating 1 protection. Have been paying that for a couple of years now.

After hearing what most of said about GIO I think I'll give them another year to sort their shit out and might give them a call.....I tried to call shannons when I first bought my stagea and they were rude pricks and didn't want anything to do with imports at the time. Even though they seem to now Just Cars have always been helpful and polite and so far to date I've got no complaints about the service.

I didn't got to GIO but I got a quote from Shannons.. $650/year with CAMS liscence discount for agreed value $15,000 (I paid 13k for mine).

So if anyone else has CAMS Competition Liscence it is worth giving Shannons a call and see what saving you can get. A S2 Cams Licsence is only $85 a year.

I insured my 1984 Works Opel Kadett GSi Rally Car for $499 agrred value $15000 and I automatically get the car back (what is left of it) if it is destroyed or damaged beyond repair... that is given back .. I don't have to buy it back. Of course it is only insured for road use and parked at home.... not on the track :)

yeah i will give shannons a go next week as i am sick of trying to get mine insured through gio. Won't insure serries 2, won't insure factory manual. I even tried telling them i did a manual convestion, that worked but they won't insure the s2 front end. Won't insure a RS Four "S" gio just keep giving me the run around and passing me on then sorry your motor vehicle isn't on our list. (f@#$ em) they shit me no end :D .

i hate having to have inshurance but you neeed it. :P

man i hat nescary evil they prey on your mistakes like vultures

i pay $1050 a year with Shannons for 97 s1 insured value of $14k. I am 29 no accidents or fines and 2 other cars with Shannons. I have asked several times but they say they cannot do any better and said that they normall do not insure my car unless it is garaged (it is under a carport most of the time)

It seems that most people who are younger with higher value cars are paying less. Anyone here work for Shannons who can sort these f**kers out!

8005TED works for shannons last time i spoke to him he was very helpful and unfortunately i couldnt insure my gto with them because its not in an enclosed garage :) damn having too many decent cars and a 2 car garage sucks bigtime :D

try QBE insurance if your in WA as they did a great value on my gto (which i specified) and cheap premium as well.

    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
    • I also used NP   That’s were it’s seems to be the best place to fit it? All schematic shows also that it’s should be referenced from the turbo housing. But idk, I do see high hp cars without any connection or anything to their turbos, so I really don’t know how they connect their things
    • I do have loctite 243 and 246 and a few more models. I could drill it now in place and make new threads for m12 and order an4 - m12 coupling and fit that to the turbo. Run a braided hose to the EBC which I could get a an4 to 1/8npt
