I want to install a 38mm external wastegate and screamer pipe on my GTS25t on the standard extractors. I have looked around on these forums and havnt been able to find any guides an i was wondering if anybody knew where there was one on these forums or anywhere else? Any help would be much appreciated, cheers.

Dont waste your time unless you absolutly need it. And as for a screemer - im guessing you dont need your car on the road for too long.. they sound shiet on 25's any way

Hey i have one and it sounds sweet as, but i dont drive it on the street much.

Each there own. :)

why?

You wont be able to do this at home unless you have a die grinder, an oxy set and a tig welder

I have all those things as my dad is an engineer but just need instructions on hooking up all the lines, blocking/removing the internal etc..so nobody knows where there is any guides on this forum?

Yeah i have heard many on 25t's an i rekn they sound nice as!

no difference in the sound of a screamer...atleast none i can tell from a 20, 25 or 26 even on the rb30dets... Ive had ones on both 25 and 25/30's and ive heard em on 26/30's. unless my ears are playing up i reckon they all sound the same. Like a huge arse exhaust leak, but tough on the race track, its just lame when they spit flames and melt the steering rack boots haha.

lol someone wants to be an attention whore.

Just put a Vent to atmosphere BOV in it, some neons, and a big sign on top that flashes and says "cops, PLEASE throw the book at me"

Every screamer will sound different depending on

Manifold

Gate size

Screamer exit pipe size/angle/position etc

Gate position on the manifold

etc etc.

But on a stocker turbo - pointless, even with the stock manifold i dont think there is a lot to gain

You need to disable your internal gate you could weld it shut or have something hold it shut from outside where its hooked up to the actuator. Tehn you to find a location in front of the turbo entry where exhaust gas can be made to bypass the turbo (hope you're good at welding cast iron as its nearly impossible) bolt on your external gate and screamer pipe, run manifold pressure to it and there you go!

man you're going to be going to a lot of trouble. it would be easier to buy an aftermarket manifold with the facility for an external gate and save yourself some brain damage.

hope this helped

Matt.

Yeah i think i mite just get some extractors ay it seems like it would be alot easier. If i get extractors with a place to bolt on the external what would i have to do then? Would i still have to find a place in front of the turbo entry to bypass the exhaust gas from the turbo or would the extractors take care of that?

Cheers.

And hopefully the person that steals your car is screaming "FTP" out the window as he drives off with it.

Then you might get some respect when you actually need them, unfortunately they wont say "FHNH?" (fck who now huh?) as they are forced to respond to even the biggest morons

I have needed them on a couple of occacions and every time they have ended up turning everyting on me and my mates instead of the people that have auctually started the sh*t..the New Zealand law is pathetic, it protects the criminal more than it does the victim..and this is now why i believe FTP as i have only had bad experiences with them..

    • The oil pressure sensor for logging, does it happen to be the one that was slowly breaking out of the oil block? If it is,I would be ignoring your logs. You had a leak at the sensor which would mean it can't read accurately. It's a small hole at the sensor, and you had a small hole just before it, meaning you could have lost significant pressure reading.   As for brakes, if it's just fluid getting old, you won't necessarily end up with air sitting in the line. Bleed a shit tonne of fluid through so you effectively replace it and go again. Oh and, pay close attention to the pressure gauge while on track!
    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.
    • Nice, looks great. Nice work getting the factory parts also. Never know when you'll need them.
    • Thanks @jtha7 I will have a look around tomorrow but it is a prick of a spot. These are some photos i tried taking
    • I take it that the knock retard is from bearings tapping a little tune? Thicker oil is a fragile bandaid. You need a much bigger oil cooler and probably the bigger pump being discussed.
