BaysideBlue
Hi Guys, Need your opinions to help me decide on my next car. The main prerequisite is a car that I will enjoy DRIVING EVERYDAY. I'm not planning to start a family anytime soon so it does not matter how many doors or seats it has. I don't play golf therefore boot space is not a concern. A budget of $60k-80k. It will also see track days 4 to 5 times a year. Again not in order of preference. VW Golf R32 I like the fact its an AWD with DSG and a decent engine. Has the best interior and built quality of the bunch. 2008 Lancer Evolution X AWD + Turbo + Twin Clutch. Brand new 2008 model car. 02/03 Porsche Boxster S One of the most capable chassis. 3 times MOTOR performance car of the year. It's a Porsche. R34 GTR Vspec Well, it's a GTR for a start! and a R34 Vspec is always one of the most desirable GTRs in anyone's book. I have said some of the positive aspects. Now I would like to hear from you, what do you like and dislike about each one of these cars. and which would you realistically pick given the budget. Rekin
- VW Golf R32 is a good car, but a bit expensive for what it is. - Porsche Boxster S is an entry model, and only bought for its name. - I thought the EVO X will be selling for $100k+? - R34 GTR Vspec, awesome car but think about its resale value once the new GTR comes out. (could drop etc) My opinion, get a brand new car Get a 6.1L v8 300c with brembo brakes or this which i just found, limited edition F6 (300 avail) http://www.fpv.com.au/media/34501/f6rflyer.pdf Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/183822-mk-v-golf-r32-08-lancer-evo-x-0203-boxster-s-r34-gtr-vspec/#findComment-3329388 Share on other sites
Maxx
Boxster S it's not an "entry level Porsche" which only bought for its name, it's a 3.2L MR convertible! maybe Golf R32? but I reckon the Golf Gti is good enough then R34 GTR, then Evo... Rekin
Boxster Sit's not an "entry level Porsche" which only bought for its name, it's a 3.2L MR convertible! maybe Golf R32? but I reckon the Golf Gti is good enough then R34 GTR, then Evo... mmm its 911 or nothing i reckon http://www.cartest.ca/2003_porsche_boxsterboxster_.htm Golf GTi won best australian sports car under $60,000 + other awards. Much popular over the R32 in terms of sales. http://www.volkswagen.com.au/golf/model_gti.asp Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/183822-mk-v-golf-r32-08-lancer-evo-x-0203-boxster-s-r34-gtr-vspec/#findComment-3329644 Share on other sites
adam-__-
I'd go the R34 GTR Vspec for sure. Only because I never hear or have seen any of the other cars before. Phantom32
r34 gtr is not an easy car to drive daily by any means. clutch is heavy and its not designed for everyday street driving...evo is much more practical and easy in that respect. lag isn't an issue if your driving in town or in the suburbs dont know much about r32 golf but have read about it and it seems the goods. i'd say it'd be between the boxter and the evo. I'd personally go the evo as its good and practical for everyday with the option for more power if you want it. i'd imagine the boxter will be hard to extract more balls out of and hella expensive. go the evo...looks *hawt* and its brand spankers. R31Nismoid
Evo. Zappn
I'd go the r32 or porche (so long as it's the S not the weaksauce 2.7 ) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/183822-mk-v-golf-r32-08-lancer-evo-x-0203-boxster-s-r34-gtr-vspec/#findComment-3329985 Share on other sites
dilmah
The 300C goes well if you get the one with the big engine, but handles like crap. it's a massive car after all. if it were me, i'd take one of each for a drive Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/183822-mk-v-golf-r32-08-lancer-evo-x-0203-boxster-s-r34-gtr-vspec/#findComment-3330075 Share on other sites
nisskid
i voted the porsche, i figured if ur even contemplating those other options u shouldn't be getting a R34 GTR. BaysideBlue
17 votes for the GTR a clear winner so far. only drawback for me is as some already mentioned "r34 gtr is not an easy car to drive daily by any means. clutch is heavy and its not designed for everyday street driving" although Im not too concerned with a heavy clutch but being in a R34GTR means every kids on the road will try to race you plus you will have to be very selective on where you park the car in public. whereas for the other three you can comfortably leave in a shopping centre carpark to watch a movie or grocery shopping. EVO X was rumoured to retail around $70-80k. still within my budget. We will know for sure at the sydney motor show. as for the 300C I like the engine but not really fond of its size. - VW Golf R32 is a good car, but a bit expensive for what it is.- Porsche Boxster S is an entry model, and only bought for its name. - I thought the EVO X will be selling for $100k+? - R34 GTR Vspec, awesome car but think about its resale value once the new GTR comes out.
