good luck mate!

hope you get a good run at it!!

russ

Thanks mate...ran an easy 10.4 the other nite short shifting it with 20psi. Going to feed a bit more boost into it and rev it a bit more now i know its running straight and the engines fine.

Anyway enough of my car...this is your thread!

you have PM

top idea paul. and it should be pretty effective. :( oh, and pm me your address so I can post that diff pack for you :)

russ, I will talk with you during the week. it's looking more possible by the day :D

Aye Russ it is a thing of beauty!!!!

Now just got to get mine sounding like that :-) even the girls in the office thought it sounded great LOL i did play it quite a few times

Good to catch up with you at the track the other day mate car looked really impressive cant wait untill japan.I got some good news my rings have arrived early so i should have them this week and can get stuck into getting it finnished and get out there in something a bit more competitive than the wifes car.If you get a chance you should try and sneak out for indy rally we have QR wed and i am sure you could sweet talk russ into letting you guys sneak a few laps in as they are down on entrys this year so will have more time. Will give you a call in the next few days mate.

Foooook ME!!!

that car is looking awesome! sounding awesome! and appears it would put shame on the Millennium Falcon itself!

top stuff!!]

one question tho, what are you doing for aero???

Edited by Angus Smart

Yeah good spotting roy, steering ratio is standard so fair bit of rotation required but the car was pushing a fair bit in these videos but got better as the day went on and adjustments were made.

russ

But the push didnt seem to stop you from getting on the loud pedal on exit, so ?!?!?!!?

As i understand it you are basically still running the Nissan ATTESA system...how often do you find the torque gauge flashing all over the place???

Great car and great thread guys. I remember seeing this car a few years ago on the massive skyline crusie number 2 I think and wow has it come along way since then! I'm just wondering if you guys run any aero aids like slim lining the underside of the car, or if you guys have looked into rear diffusers or front cannards.. to help rear stability and to aid turn in and maintain front corner grip.. i could very well be wrong as i'm only going from what i can see in the pictures. If the japanese have been using them for years let alone most motorsports (when allowed) would it be worth looking into.. any little could help when running against japan's best.

?????????? or is this secret?

LOL...i think its already been asked?!?!? None, not enough time to trial on the car.

I tend to agree, new engine, new suspension is enough to get your head around when you are going as quick as these guys. Throwing aero into the mix??? I would tend to get the car dialled in and in the money...then at a time where you can make a few wrong calls with setup...then try aero. Unless you have lots of experience with car setup and aero then you could easily end up slower or with an ill handlign car

i think i may have missed it in the other thread.. tho I agree with you also roy, it would take alot of time to get aero right!

seems like this will be the only area not covered. i still wish the boys the very best!

Russ and Mark, just wanted to tell you guys how jealous I am! haha, and I'm still filthy you weren't at Dutton Vic so I could see that angry thing myself.

I was meant to get out to QR for your initial test day to take a test in Jason's blue R34 that you breezed by but couldn't make it. I'll be keeping an eye out for any more test days @ QR.

Congrats to date, and best of luck for Japan :O

The old saying " i know enough to be dangerous" applies here. But that XS car, well the angle of attack on the rear wing seems wrong. The front cannards would add more to drag then corner speed over a single lap on fresh tyres.

But, sure. There would probably be a bit of development left with aero. But a fresh set of tyres over a single lap...well i thnk there woudl be a fair bit of expense trying to get the car to actually go quicker. First and foremost you would want a pretty good data logger or race mechanic helping you out?

LOL, i dont know. I do know if Mark and Russ painted there car silver then it woudl be about the perfect car

Im lost with marks gear changes in those few videos, they are way different to my own on both the sprint and clubman tracks. I can only put it down to the all wheel drive giving you guys the traction where i cant get it....i mean 2nd gear through the dipper and turn 4 and then into 3rd for turn 5 is unheard of....unless they were only mild laps??? Not going hard out yet or what?

Did you guys have plenty of traction whenever using 2nd?

Congratulations on the times too!

    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
