LOL!!!!! the more pre order they get the higher they're gonna with the exclusivity tax.. I'm glad I pulled out a few months ago.

Honestly I was abit let down with the r35 being so heavy, no new tech, more of the same old stuff afer all this wait..

They could atleast made the front electric or build it from allum. or atleast spend some $$ try to reduce the weight. I think it a case of Nissan cashing in GTR badge.

at those number we"re talking about full size euro luxo sedan weights for a purist sport car?

Hungry,

You continue feeling good about cancelling your order, as there are many people who think you have NFI and will order one.

No new Tech ? Your kidding right ? It has a center display that has custimisable display of the car's vital functions. DSG gearbox, V6 motor, active suspension. and the list goes on

Weight reduction. the bonnet, boot, doors and guards are made from aluminimum to save weight. It has carbon fibre driveshafts and underbody protection. they have tried to reduce weight, but the AWD system and safety features all weigh a heap. Any new car road is above 1500kg just because they are safe. Unless you build the whole car from carbon fibre, the weight will always be a problem.

Your view on the GTR badge, must be viewed though rose coloured glasses. This car has managed to bet most cars around the true drivers circuit that cost over twice as much. Nissan has managed to deliver on a promise they made 6 years ago, buy giving us a car that is well priced and an awsome drive. It will not suite everyones tastes in styling or perfomance, but I am sure as hell gonna keep my spot, as I will be one of the first to get one. For $150,000 I cannot buy a new M3, but I can get a true GTR supercar.

GTR R35 is dead right. Mate you have your head in the sand if you reckon there is no new tech on this car. (DSG by the way isn't new tech)

Have you seen what you get with the car standard??? No freakin wonder it ways 1700kg. There is A LOT of stuff you can ditch. With a CF bonnet, Titanium exhaust and ditching quite a few of the luxuries... 100-150kg could be found and i reckon that's what will see in the track versions. This car has a lot of weight to shed if you really wanted to, it's just giving Nissan room to move by piling everything into the standard one.

It still laps the Ring quicker than a lighter 997 Turbo, so the weight factor is vastly reduced with that performance.

Well put guys.

Been reading alot of forums on this car, and really sick to death of people saying weight is too high. Too high for what??

The cars performance stats (if real) suggest that weight doesn't hinder it on any level what so ever.

As for no new technology, compared to what. Nothing new compared to a $500k lambo maybe, but a hell of a lot new compared to $150k car in almost any category.

I've said it before, I can understand people knocking the looks, but people knocking it's performance, weigth etc without driving the car, really need to get a grip.

I dont think the GTR will remain standard for long.

You can see that 500KW would be easily attainable in light-tune configuration...which would translate to flat 11's and the ability to corner!

Just to put thing in perspective, yes the GTR is abit of a let down after all the hype, it is no doubt a fast car, but after all that hype? and for the record, Nar I dont regretting cancelling my order.

On another note, I was one of the people who bought the original R32 oz delivered one, yes,, since then I have owned and driven some notable car that has somewhat questionable tech. obviously they cost more, I would have been happy to see the GTR break $200k and brings a wad load of technology with it, but that is all history now..

Just to set the record, I'm currently drive a 2007 F430 Ferrari F1: Audi RS6: 375hp atw 05 WRX :572atw R33GTS with Rb26DET and a few other odd bits and pieces

Previous car RS4,GT2,F355,R32,33,34GTR, just a few of my previous encounter, or do you want me to name more?

Yes I know what I'm talking about.

As or tech. The RS6 has a navigation system that operated on a back to base in the event of an accident and the airbags are deployed, it automatically calls 000 and give them your GPS co-ordinates, and it has a solar panel as a sunroof which charges your car and keep a fan going on hot day to reduce the interior temp down.

I'm not sure of what hi tech the F430 carries, but it goes around crn plenty quick for a RWD

pfffft... ur my hero

hungry, this is how much i read of your post....

that was it... i didn't need to waste my time reading anymore as all that would follow would surely be drivel, judging from your posts in other R35 GTR threads

Mate, you sound to me just like a keyboard warrior aching for attention. Were your grades that bad this year at school that you've just not bothered finishing out this year, hence, it's school holidays already?

What was the hype? i believe it centred strongly around "could it be such a monster of a car such as the 997 turbo, and for less than half the price?" that's the hype surrounding this car. Can it mix it as a TRUE supercar, the likes of which the 997 turbo is it's closest neighbour... 2 secs quicker around a damp 'Ring track is not only living up to the hype, it is SURPASSING IT!

A toyota aurion has the same emergency feature. so what?

Hungry,

Did you notice the "Carwings" button located on the dash of the GTR ?

It is a back to base GPS system, the girl on the end of the line will even blow you...does your Audi do that ?

The GTR has a disk drive nav and audio system, so I can download my music to the car. This is new as is the 2 MoFo subs in the Bose sound system.

I am happy with my choice, I am also glad I have not wasted as much money as you on buying many exotic cars, even if they were all made by Biante.

    • Update 3: Hi all It's been a while. Quite a lot of things happened in the meantime, among other things the car is (almost) back together and ready to be started again. Things that I fixed or changed: Full turbo removal, fitting back the OEM turbo oil hardlines. Had to do quite a bit of research and parts shopping to get every last piece that I need and make it work with the GT2860 turbos, but it does work and is not hard to do. Proves that the previous owner(s) just did not want to. While I was there I set the preload for the wastegates to 0,9bar to hopefully make it easier for the tuner to hit the 370hp I need for the legal inspections that will follow later on. Boost can always go up if necessary. Fitted a AN10 line from the catch can to the intake hose to make the catchcan and hopefully the cam covers a slight vacuum to have less restrictive oil returns from the head and not have mud build up as harshly in the lines and catch can. Removed the entire front interior just shy of the dashboard itself to clean up some of the absolutely horrendous wiring, (hopefully) fix the bumpy tacho and put in LED bulbs while I was there. Also put in bulbs where there was none before, like the airbag one. I also used that chance to remove the LED rpm gauge on the steering column, which was also wired in absolute horror show fashion. Moved the 4in1 Prosport gauge from sitting in front of the OEM oil pressure gauge to the center console vents, I used a 3D printed vent piece to hold that gauge there. The HKB steering wheel boss was likely on incorrectly as I sometimes noticed the indicator reset being uneven for left vs. right. In the meantime also installed an airbag delete resistor, as one should. Installed Cube Speed premium short shifter. Feels pretty nice, hope it'll work great too when I actually get to drive. Also put on a fancy Dragon Ball shift knob, cause why not. My buddy was kind enough to weld the rust hole in the back, it was basically rusted through in the lowermost corner of the passenger side trunk area where the wheel arch, trunk panel and rear quarter all meet. Obviously there is still a lot of crustiness in various areas but as long as it's not rusted out I'll just treat and isolate the corrosion and pretend it's not there. Also had to put down a new ground wire for the rear subframe as the original one was BARELY there. Probably a bit controversial depending on who you ask about this... but I ended up just covering the crack in the side of the engine block, the one above the oil feed, with JB Weld. I used a generous amount and roughed up the whole area with a Dremel before, so I hope this will hold the coolant where it should be for the foreseeable future. Did a cam cover gasket job as the half moons were a bit leaky, and there too one could see the people who worked on this car before me were absolute tools. The same half moons were probably used like 3 times without even cleaning the old RTV off. Dremeled out the inside of the flange where the turbine housing mates onto the exhaust manifolds so the diameter matches, as the OEM exhaust manifolds are even narrower than the turbine housings as we all know. Even if this doesn't do much, I had them out anyways, so can't harm. Ideally one would port-match both the turbo and the manifold to the gasket size but I really didn't feel up to disassembling the turbine housings. Wrapped turbo outlet dumps in heat wrap band. Will do the frontpipe again as well as now the oil leak which promted me to tear apart half the engine in the first place is hopefully fixed. Fitted an ATI super damper to get rid of the worn old harmonic balancer. Surely one of the easiest and most worth to do mods. But torquing that ARP bolt to spec was a bitch without being able to lock the flywheel. Did some minor adjustments in the ECU tables to change some things I didn't like, like the launch control that was ALWAYS active. Treated rusty spots and surface corrosion on places I could get to and on many spots under the car, not pretty or ideal but good enough for now. Removed the N1 rear spats and the carbon surrounding for the tailpipe to put them back on with new adhesive as the old one was lifting in many spots, not pretty. Took out the passenger rear lamp housing... what do you know. Amateur work screwed me again here as they were glued in hard and removing it took a lot of force, so I broke one of the housing bolts off. And when removing the adhesive from the chassis the paint came right off too. Thankfully all the damaged area won't be visible later, but whoever did the very limited bodywork on this car needs to have their limbs chopped off piece by piece.   Quite a list if I do say so myself, but a lot of time was spent just discovering new shit that is wrong with the car and finding a solution or parts to fix it. My last problem that I now have the headache of dealing with is that the exhaust studs on the turbo outlets are M10x1.25 threaded, but the previous owner already put on regular M10 nuts so the threads are... weird. I only found this out the hard way. So now I will just try if I can in any way fit the front pipe regardless, if not I'll have to redo the studs with the turbos installed. Lesson learned for the future: Redo ALL studs you put your hands on, especially if they are old and the previous owners were inept maniacs. Thanks for reading if you did, will update when the engine runs again. Hope nothing breaks or leaks and I can do a test drive.
    • No those pads are DBA too  but they have colors too. I look at the and imo the green "street" are the best.
    • I’m not sure what happened I told them about sonic tunes free OTS tune and the next the I know .. I was booted..   To funny
    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
