Hi all, anyone who used SVI or J-spec here have any feedback? As I am based in Brisbane, where SVI is I'm more keen to go with them but J-Spec seems to be a very popular option. Just wanna hear some feedback from people who've used SVI before. PM me if you need to.

Cheers

+1 for J-spec.... Just got my Stagea a few days ago, and so far I'm absolutely stoked with it.... Cheapest S1 I've seen, and very clean throughout.... Also have to say that I'm very happy with Seaway/KIWI.

i work for j-spec :) they rock. think we've imported 99% of the stagea's on this forum.

I fall under this percentage - my silver baby is currently in transit and Mr Moor's assistance has been outstanding. :D

Viva La J-Spec! :)

Ben and Craig at J-Spec really look out for you. I've imported 3 cars now, 2 with J-Spec and I have been thru the process with other companies and haven't found them as "YOU" focussed as J-Spec. I am fussy about ANY surface rust anywhere on the car and Ben simply checked every car that looked good and even if it was a specced up brilliant car, if it had any r-u-s-t he would steer me away from it, even though he could have let me buy and got me outa his hair many times. You'll be happy with what you end up with, with J-Spec... Another well known company was happily dishing up 15 or so Legnums I could buy every day (when I thought that was what I wanted). Ben knew what I wanted, clued me in on Legnums (95% will have some minor rust, somewhere in/on the car - just a well know reality - but said he would hunt for one if I really wanted one!) and faithfully searched for what I wanted in a Stagea (RWD, mods, fruit, km's, etc) and it took 8 weeks to find something we were both happy with. Because of him I will own a more dependable, reliable, modification-friendly, value-packed and, importantly, 'hold it's value' kind of vehicle. If my wife doesn't enjoy the firm ride or the recaros or something, I can make a small profit, move on and get another vehicle from Japan. I'm the type of guy who is very particular about being dealt with kindly and professionally. Couldn't fault J-spec... Even when there's been little on offer in the auctions for a particular day, and I send them a query about 3 or 4 cars, they respond with ALL the relevant details - with a smile!

It's all about service... and the car!

  • 1 month later...

Can't recommend J-Spec enough.

Both Craig and Ben were very helpful in the 6 months they searched high and low for a factory Black Series 2 Stagea with leather, high grade, factory body kit, log books etc to my specifications.

Why it took 6 months?- because these are very rare in black with leather, log books etc in Japan.

They did offer to refund all costs if they didn't find anything suitable within 8 weeks of searching but I was so impressed with their service, persistance and resilence that I knew one would come up sooner or later... and it did.

J-Spec rocks and I wouldn't hesitate in using them again- they know the import business inside/out!

    • I'll probably be putting the shit box back on the dyno again soon, I want to dial in the closed loop boost control properly. I'll have a camera facing the car/motor for fun too. Just note, there are essentially 3x 10AN inlets going into the catch can and 1x going back to the intake pipe. Most of the time the catch can "return" to the sump actually is the crank case breather, pushing air out.
    • I have the R3C with a Nismo slave and by no means does it behave like a stocker, it ain’t THAT bad. On take off just give a bit more throttle than you would say a coppermix and it’s fine. It will not slip though.
    • Okay. Final round of testing done. Got a friend to hook up a fancy scanner to the car and we also ran some compression and leakdown tests, she is healthy.  The MAF was definitely the culprit. So for future reference anyone with similar issues that find this thread. I suggest the following steps, in order of affordability:   Check your spark plugs for any fouling, replace plugs if they are bad or re adjust the gaps making it narrower (0.8mm would be good). Check every coil's resistance with a multimeter. It can be done by probing the IB and G pins on the coil pack. Resistance should be around 1.4 (+/- 0.1) Ohms Check the MAF. If you have Nissan connect or a good scanner with the 14 adapter it should allow you to see the voltage on the MAF reading should be around 1.1 - 1.2V when car is idling. But if you don't, buy a new MAF from Amazon and test, then return it. (For instance, I got a Chinese one for $40 that was reporting 1.3v on idle). If you still have scanner, you can run tests on the injectors to see if they are working, just remember to unplug the fuel pump fuse/relay and have no pressure on the line. Then listen for the noises that the injectors make. Clean/replace injectors as needed. Once you find the issue and fix, order thousands of dollars worth of OEM parts to refresh unrelated things (Optional)   PS: Thanks to the absolute legends of this forum for the responses and help to someone that went a bit over their head.
