Just to clarify on the write off thing - here's the info from the source.

What is a written-off vehicle?

Written-off vehicles may be classified either as a ‘statutory’ or a ‘repairable’ write-off.

A vehicle may be considered a statutory write-off if it has severe structural or other damage or deterioration that prevents it from being driven safely on a road

A vehicle declared a ‘statutory’ write-off on or after 20 September 2004 in any State or Territory of the Commonwealth of Australia will not be eligible for re-registration in South Australia.

*the effective date for a write-off recorded in New South Wales is 9 July 2001.

This includes all such vehicles acquired by a person whose business is to sell wrecked vehicles or parts of wrecked vehicles.

A vehicle may be a ‘repairable’ write-off if it is written-off and is determined not to be a statutory write-off.

A vehicle may be declared a write-off by an insurer following accidental damage or if determined to be a write-off by an owner.

It is an offence to drive a written-off vehicle on a road other than for the purpose of being driven to or from a place of repair or inspection, prior to re-registration.

Here's what determines it to be a statutory write off:

WHAT IS A STATUTORY “WRITE-OFF”

‘Statutory write-off’ means a motor vehicle or trailer that is written-off and is:

(a) a motor vehicle (other than a motor bike or a trailer ) that has been:

(i) immersed in salt water above the door sill level for any period; or

(ii) immersed in fresh water up to the dashboard or steering wheel for more than 48 hours; or

(b) a motor bike that has been:

(i) fully immersed in salt water for any period; or

(ii) fully immersed in fresh water for more than 48 hours; or

© a motor vehicle or trailer that is burnt to such an extent that it is fit for only wrecking or scrap; or

(d) a motor vehicle that is stripped of all, or a combination of most, interior and exterior body parts, panels, and components

(such as, for example, the engine, wheels, bonnet, guards, door, boot lid); or

(e) a motor vehicle (other than a motor bike or trailer) that is damaged by at least three of the following impact damage indicators:

(i) damage to an area of the roof equal to or exceeding 300 mm by 300 mm in size;

(ii) damage to an area of the cabin floor pan equal to or exceeding 300 mm by 300 mm in size;

(iii) damage to an area of the firewall equal to or exceeding 300 mm by 300 mm in size;

(iv) any damage to the suspension;

(v) damage to major mechanical component such as the engine block or transmission casings (for example, where the

component is cracked or broken); or

(f) a motor bike that has impact damage (excluding scratching) to the suspension and at least two areas of structural frame damage.

A Repairable write-off is a written-off vehicle that is not a Statutory write-off.

i found out from the dealer that the car is from strathalbyn. i was told the guys name but i wont post it on a forum. if anyone was the owner of a maroon r33 gts-t that has the mods mentioned above and maybe more, or knows of it, it'd be cool to have some feedback on it. all the previous ideas have been helpful too guys. also had a aftermarket heavy duty clutch.

I think I know the car, I was going to buy it before I bought Zertek's (Which was from Synergy Motorsports YEAH!)...

Does it have no spoiler, 18s, ~190kw, still has its extenda booster aerial etc?

I think I have a great idea about this car and its previous owner.

they are a huge rip off...lol tried to sell me a evo 7 for 40k omg

Damn right- Synergy is a rip off and Redline is even worse. Usuallly 5k+ more expensive then private/import. Synergy had an auto r34 for 30k a few weeks back.

its not only those caryards, basically all caryards are rip offs, regardless of if they sell imports or not.

but some people cant pay cash for a private sale, so they have no other choice.

i would never buy from a dealer. ever.

i never plan on buying a new car though. new as in off the showroom floor.

buy Sniper911s R34 - once you drive an R34 you would never dream of buying an R33 (no offence meant to R33 owners :) ).

Definitely sounds like it might be RedGTSTs car, the power amount sounds right and bodykit sounds it too ....

And DO NOT rely on any car yards warranty - they are not worth the paper they are written on. As soon as you leave the car yard you are absolutely screwed - as they will say that you flogged the piss out of it (which you will), and caused any damage/problems.

i must of been quiet lucky with my car i had them replace stud on the exhaust manifold and do new front pads dunno if rear got changed i think there was somthing else also

having never driven a R32 i would imagine your statement hold true...

once driven a R32 wouldnt go back to R31

once driven a R33 wouldnt go back to R32

once driven a R34 wouldnt go back to R33

Its definatly not redgtst car his is at all type crash with major damage wont be cheap to fix

    • Pads for R32 GTS-t, R32 GT-R non V-Spec (Sumitomo), R33 GTS-t and R34 GT-t are all interchangeable. R34 GT uses a 2x piston caliper, hence it didn't fit.
    • Checked with amayama and nope, the full S2 manual set is not available anymore. Unsurprising, but still disappointing as the ? on availability gave a glimmer of hope.
    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
