a business owner would get a lot of customers in 4 weeks. sometimes its hard to remember someone you served 2 hours ago let alone a month ago.

why dont you go in and see him and show him the rims? that might jog his memory. maybe you are not talking to the same guy who did the work for you? its possible an offsider did the work without letting the business owner know. Everyone makes mistakes.

i am looking at his business card rite now. it says MANAGER....

he gave it to me and his name is written on the card, tat was how he introduce himself to me when i first saw him. (a nice and friendly guy - i admit) but today when i told him my problem about the rims he was different.

even the reciept says "POWDERCOAT 4x rims Matt black. $50 each total at the bottom = $200.

so wat should i do rite now.....

*** i did not say this part to him... it was on top of my mind - tat i have a job to go to.

If your telephone skills are as bad as your posts I would've slammed down the phone too.

If you spoke to the same "owner" both times he would remember you and the job he did.

which part of my post tat u think i deserve to be slammed down??? if tis happen to u, will u just say -lets forget about it?? i know AUSD200 is not alot but i don mind if he didnt powdercoat the rims, at least give it a good even spray. do a proper job.

He did remember me. he told me tat was like 4 weeks ago, y didnt u bring it in earlier. theres where the (i do have a job moment) came up!

bloody hell

look - where not trying to slam you at all, but if you want to get an issue resolved, go in with the item(s) in question and see them personally

it always works better that way

go in with one or two of the rims - or all if you want

explain the story how you wanted them powdercoated - and thats what got done

say that when you got to get tyres on em, the tyre place said that it looked like they had been spray-painted

ask him how powder coating is exactly done and show him the rims and ask him if it looks like its been spray-painted or powder coated

my bet is that they powder coated it, but just the face - cause really, who is going to look INSIDE the rim anyway??? (only the tyre guys will)

Oh I see. Communication error. When you said "he said he doesnt spray paint rims" it came across as him saying he didnt spray rims all together including powder coating.

Ok. Well just go in and see him and show him the problem. He might be nicer in person.

Did you get a receipt for the work?

Mate, I think we all agree that the job is sh!tty and yes I would definate complain also.

But given that 4 weeks (?) or so has passed you cannot expect the guys at the shop to drop everything and attend to your problems.

Bring them in with the receipt point out the problems - try to remain calm and rational and I'm sure they will help you out.

The outside section near the centre is clearly bad workmanship. As for the inside, if you are not happy with the inside of the rim not painted, then specify you WANT these bits done also. If you want things done on the cheap ($200 is on the cheap side), then it's perfectly legit to not spray these bits as no one will see it anyway and it has no impact on the durability of the outside.

just my 2c worth

if u brought ur rims to be powdercoated, u expect them to be powdercoated. but if it was suppose to be powder coated n it comes out to be sprayed, what would u do?? at least do a good job. tats all i am asking.

Thanks to all for the advice ppl!!

which part of my post tat u think i deserve to be slammed down???

"tat" part exactly. Jesus.

but if it was suppose to be powder coated n it comes out to be sprayed,

Are you a powder coater? Are the tyre shop guys powder coaters? NO. They're merely giving an opinion, so for all you know (also, NOT being a powder coater) it may well be genuine powder coated, just an average job.

Telling the manager that "he didnt powder coat your wheels" won't help.

Accurate communication during dispute resolution can only do good.

Good luck with your issue, let us know how it all pans out for you.

To me it looks powder coated . . you can tell by the way its kinda blobbed on, spray paint would be alot more fine.

So im guessing its just a shitty light coat, or maybe the rims didnt get hot enough to allow the powder to stick . . .

Id just take to worst rim in and show him the recipt and the rim and see what he can do about it

Stop complaining, stop posting.

Take your rims in, with your receipt and talk, calmly and slowly with the guy. All you need to do is show him the poor work around the centre of the rims and say that it's not up to scratch and ask politely for it to be redone properly.

Looks like powder coating to be, just doesn't look very well done.

Do you speak how you type mate? no offence - but i wouldnt have had much time for you either.

+1 for take your receipt in, with your wheels. Whether its been a month or not doesnt matter. They cant give a $200 job one month warranty. Apologise for any dramas, say that you appreciate the fac tthat he did it on the cheap for you, but request that he does it to a standard that HE would be happy with on his car.

And if he says he would be happy with them on his car, get matt black spraypaint and paint the f#$%ers rims.

SOUTH SIDE POWDERCOATING did mine for 150 all 4

Honsetly if they DId them to mine i would bring them back and let him no and if he gets smart say!

i will go to the motor and trade accs and advise them what happend!!

    • Apologies for the long post, but needed somewhere to lay out the entire timeline of events and actions taken:   I've got an 89 GTR with a R34 RB in it. It's been running great all year, driven probably 500KM in the last month. It's not my daily driver, just a weekend fun car.    Build info: R34 RB26 - HKS 2.7 stroker kit, HKS adjustable cam gears, HKS turbo upgrades, Trust intercooler, R34 factory DENSO 440cc injectors, JUN chipped/tuned R32 ECU. All of this work was performed in Japan back in 2019.    Thursday 10/2/25 - It's a nice day and decided I'll drive it to work, I start it up in the garage and I notice it took a few extra cranks and sounded a bit funny. I figure maybe it was just because it was a pretty chilly morning. I pull it out into the driveway to warm up a bit before leaving. As I leave the driveway, it feels very off and sounds like a misfire. I pull it back in the garage to deal with after work and take the daily to work. I was able to diagnose it as a cylinder 5 misfire with the old spark plug test (unplugging each plug until a sound change with the engine running). I take off the whole ignition system, ignitor, plugs, spark. *Important note, it is still on the R32 ignition system with the separate ignitor system. I test each system with a multi-meter and nothing presents as a smoking gun. I put it all back together and it starts up no issue. I go ahead and order the PRP R35 ignition conversion kit. It should arrive today (10/13/25)   Friday 10/3/25 - Another nice day, car starts up great and drives great all day. Very pleased that everything seems to be OK   Sunday 10/5/25 - Decided I'll take it to play some golf, load up and drive to the course about 25 minutes away. Drives wonderful the whole way there, I pull in the parking lot and the engine completely comes to a stop. I do not recall if it sputtered at all, but just remember all of the sudden the engine was off. I roll it into a parking spot, try to crank it back on and nothing.  It'll crank and crank and not even try to start. End up getting it towed back to my house and push it up into the garage.    Items I have checked: Fuel in the tank Fuel Pump relay Fuel pump fuse  Spark Plugs & gap Coil packs Ignitor    I know the cylinders are getting fuel as the plugs smell like fuel after a start attempt. I tried spraying starter fluid into the manifold and cranking and not even a sputter.    I decided to do the live CAS test (removing the the CAS, ignition on and spinning the CAS stalk to see if the injectors pulse and spark is active). All of the injectors were pulsing and I have spark at the plug. The half-moon end of the CAS did seem very loose, I'm not sure how much play is supposed to be there, but it was more than I expected. There was no in/out play of the shaft, just the tip end that is pinned on had quite a bit of play.    CAS Play video   When I put the CAS back in, I stupidly did not re-time the engine. I know I need to do that tonight, however, I do not think it will start given it seemingly was not the issue. My plan is to do the PRP R35 coil kit and retime the engine at the same time.    I plan on ordering the Haltech Nexus Plug-in ECU once they are available again, but ideally would like to get this sorted before firing the parts cannon at it and potentially adding more variables.    Anything glaring that I am missing here, I'm a bit at a loss?
    • Get it on a dyno. Get something logging Consult. Run it up and find out what is causing it.
