nuffsaid
Hi all I have a R34 GTT with the following suspension mods: - tein super streets - whiteline front (24mm) and rear sway (20mm) bar both on soft - front and rear camber kits - front castor kit - aligned to SKs settings, pretty much everything is SK spec except coilovers and slightly smaller rear bar Problem I am having is that when I take say a hard left corner, the rear seems to hop hop hop as if the rear passenger wheel is coming up and off and onto the road again. Its either that or the tyres are rolling on the side so much that Im getting that feeling. it is hard to explain but its like the rear of the car is hopping along to follow the cornering line. The front seems fine to me and is well planted. Any ideas what it could be? or what I should try to get rid of it? is it too much body roll? Thanks Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/193750-rear-seems-to-hop-on-hard-cornering/ Share on other sites

Duncan
springs too hard so it skips over bumps on the road? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/193750-rear-seems-to-hop-on-hard-cornering/#findComment-3477223 Share on other sites
Sandeep
maybe try softening up the damping on the rear and see if that helps. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/193750-rear-seems-to-hop-on-hard-cornering/#findComment-3477310 Share on other sites
nuffsaid
Nah its not skipping over bumps as that one particular corner i go over every morning is smooth as. Tried going full soft on rear, to mediumhard, almost no difference. Beer Baron
does the car actually kind of buck? called pig rooting? happens in slower, tighter corners. and it happens when you are getting on the power just before the apex? Beer Baron
like as in the car is behaving as though it was a mechanical bull. ie jerking up and down as you are cornering? MrStabby
like as in the car is behaving as though it was a mechanical bull. ie jerking up and down as you are cornering? I get that, but only on the street. I know my rear springs are too hard, but is there another reason it happens? SeanO
I seemed to have that problem at one stage my cars left hand rear shock had gone simple bounce test later and a replacement found and its been all good so far it bounced around on tight corners but also on long sweeping corners at speed however it may have no relevance as i have a 33 but still thats my 2 cents hope it helps Edited November 18, 2007 by SeanO Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/193750-rear-seems-to-hop-on-hard-cornering/#findComment-3482631 Share on other sites

Granthem
mine does this on real tight corners on the street cusco coil overs. maybe that 50% more rigidty was too much never Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/193750-rear-seems-to-hop-on-hard-cornering/#findComment-3483852 Share on other sites
Abo Bob
Were the Teins new? You keep having weird problems with this car eh. Are you slowing or accelerating through 80km/h during this corner? Have you got a new bike yet? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/193750-rear-seems-to-hop-on-hard-cornering/#findComment-3484689 Share on other sites

Are you slowing or accelerating through 80km/h during this corner? Have you got a new bike yet? Hahaha i dont really have any problems at all, i always think i do but its always fine in the end, i think its just my fussy self hahah i think ive been pretty lucky to have everything go well with the car so far (knocks on wood) teins are new, 1 year old, only done maybe 10 thousand km on them its like a tight bend, im only doing maybe 50km/hr, maybe its just the nature of the bend, its one of those ones that get tighter as you get into it naah still trying to sell the white cibby first, then onto a 600cc hopefully Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/193750-rear-seems-to-hop-on-hard-cornering/#findComment-3484715 Share on other sites
stasis
i have exactly the same problem too. Theres a nasty winding road when i got to Bendigo its like a U turn on the middle of the hill and each time i turn it seems the tyres are slipping at the rears. Sort of felt like going into a dip and the car bounce back. I installed the tein read my signiture for specs. Sydneykid
Sounds like, insufficient rebound damping in the shocks to control the spring wind up caused by the rear squat on acceleration. Typical of a poorly matched spring rate and shock valving. If you have adjustable shocks, try winding them up towards full stiffness. It sometimes helps.
