OK.....You have asked for pics so here is what I have been able to put together tonight.

The pictures are of the following.

1) Main menu

2) VICS

3) FM

4) Compass & Altitude

5) Fuel Consumption

6) Ave fuel consumption

7) Trip Computer

8) Service information

9) Service detail page (one of 4)

10) ETC

These will give you a good idea of what you will get. There are some more menu's in behind these but bear in mind that the following sections do not function in Australia. VICS, FM, ETC & Navigation.

The real benefit is that on a daily basis all the information you are looking at and using are in English and this is easier to read on the fly and adds to the resale of you car should you decide to sell.

Cheers

Andy

Question Andy,

If you set your service interval to every 500km for example, and you reached the distance,

does the popup alert also gets translated in English, or is it still popping up with Japanese?

Reason i asked is because I still see a little bit untranslated japanese text at the bottom of the screen in picture 2 & 3

The pop up warnings all come up in English, like the hand brake warning or the the Yellow box that comes up on the TV when you turn the ignition off.

The bits of japanese at the bottom of the screen are the sort of proofing that I am doing over the next 2 weeks. I am that these are corrected if possible.

those bits of text are explanations on the selection on the screen.

I have sent you an email as discussed.

cheers

looks great... and good work again.

any chance of a definition of the pages that haven't been translated or won't work, what does VICS, FM, ETC mean.

I took a guess but just want to check!

as for the purchase of a V35... always takes me ages to bite the bullet. Deep pockets and short arms!

ETC = Electronic Toll Collection

FM = not 100% what this is used for. Chris Rogers may be able to explain it

VICS = Vehicle Information Control System. This gives information about traffic to the Navi system.

Navi = Navigation system

I believe this is what they do.

From what my rather vague understanding of the Japanese kanji translation FM would be a service (only available in Japan) that allows news-flash or information be displayed on screen, e.g. traffic information, road works, accidents, or perhaps even any general news/advertising.

Even if that screen is translated, it would be of little to no use for us (most likely to no use).

Andy makes a valid point about value in resale. $200 may be a lot of dough to spend for english when most of us can navigate around the screen from habit, but when you go to sell its a much easier pitch to show people in english.

I second that.

There were people asking me info about V35 and they kind of being 'put off' when they learnt that the information screen is all in a language they can't understand.

Just a question about the fuel leaf Andy, In Jap format the leaf goes green upwards as fuel economy (ie fuel used to accelerate) gets better, so goes from 0km/L up to 15km/L. With the inversion to L/Km, how does this work? Does the leaf work backwards towards zero???

You can see how it is in it's worst form from the image.

As you get better economy the coloring of the leaf fades to grey to correspond the the fuel consumption. ie: if you were getting 15L/100, the leaf would be grey above this point and green below the 15L mark.

    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
