woulndt be too big of an issue with heating the brake master etc if you do it right, look at how many supras are out there, how often do you hear about them having brake issues due to heat?

Every day :worship:

Cheers

like dropping a RB26DETT in a old skool mussel car...

its been done, there is an old monaro around in WA running an rb25det, goes pretty well too, was at motorvation, all the big v8s going up the track, then this car, just as fast, but making a completely different sound lol

If you want a 4wd 2JZ then get an Aristo and put Aristo 4wd components in the front.

Personally, I'd go for the 1UZ 4wd Aristo (rare as hens teeth though), put a pair of big turbos on there and have a GTR ETA!

As others have said. Too much time, money and effort to do smething like this and all it does is create more problems imo.

Would have been better spent making a big powerful rb26 that would kill anything on the road

It's good to see that they put in the 2JZ while keeping the 4wd system.

Yeah sure.

Question, could they have Stroked the RB26 to a 3 litre?

Save doing the engine conversion..?

Yeah sure.

Where's the fun in that? :)

I can't remember what the thread was about, but I guess it was to be 'different'. :P

LOL! Ah ok... Yeah I see.

But as some have said there will be a few heating issues, but Im sure it was sorted out.

how much is the 3 litre kit worth in japan? from memory its around 30 grand here, thats a pretty good reason to go with a 2jz.....

PS - that was fully assembled i think, so i guess the kit itself owuld be cheaper.... but still, 2jz has heaps of cheap parts from the states compared to RB's

You guys are completely missing the point with the conversion. They obviously did it to show case there custom fabrication and engineering skills as well as:

a) Being different

b) Creating hype over a 2jz 4wd GTR, full knowing it was going to be spread around the Internet.

What better marketing ploy.

Tough extremely powerful rb26’s have been done to death, how would this workshop be any different show casing there skills and abilities?

The point of the conversion is show casing there ingenuity. Nothing more.

not really a muscle car but i have a magazine with a pic of an EH holden with a RB26 in it. i thought it was pretty smart, good power (and prob economy)without following the V8 flock

    • HELP   Hey all, Is there an accelerator cable from another Nissan that can be used on the R33 GTST RB25DET with a Greddy forward facing plenum?  Thanks in advance  Rob
    • Or do we think it was installed to give 1 bar of boost max, all day, everyday?
    • So could it be assumed it has been installed intentionally with potentially a power FC boost controller kit?
    • Had my rig on Matt's dyno at PITS the other day. After a few years between tunes I added a few sensors and swapped intercoolers. Result. 553hp at 26psi. Not bad for an FJ20 that was built in 2007. The problem.. It filled the overflow bottle on hard runs which leads me to believe the head gasket isn't sealing. I have a coolant pressure sensor which was reading cap pressure at 22psi and occasionally overrunning to 23/24 psi on deceleration after a pull. It was not spiking. It has arp2000 head studs and a cometic gasket. As its been 18 years in service, I pulled the engine out and head off. Everything looks good but we obviously have an issue. Where I'm at.. Years ago I had the same issue, I checked the stud tension and they were all over the place. Some at 60 to 70 and some up near 90. I nipped them all to 100ft lbs and this stopped the water push until now. I believe this compromised the gasket back then. What do I do? 2 options are..  1) I bought arp 625+s, which I could put in with a new gasket. Thinking Kameari this time, reassemble and try again. 2) strip the block, get fire rings machined in with copper gasket and try that. I do not want to push it more than 28 to 30psi. I think the turbo will be out by then anyway. (G30-770). My other concern is the long term ability of a copper head gasket. Are they streetable for years? I feel like a new gasket with the new studs will probably suffice, but I don't know. Any thoughts welcome and advice on copper gaskets and fire rings. Thanks!
    • I'm a fan of the JZX110, and the Aristo. Big cruiser cars, and with the factory cars, super comfortable and feel like you're driving an armchair! And the JZ motors are a pretty nice engine too, especially with some basic mods.   The import process, and the need to be able to trust people, and the fact there's so many scammers around is what ever puts me off wanting to go through that ordeal!
