Clean Line - It Sucks Not Having Water To Wash Cars

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, just finished washing my car. Seeing as though it doesn't get washed very often anymore due to water restrictions I thought I should take some pics of how sexy it is. even if it is is pretty much a stocker. And before you call the city council it was washed with tank water which was filtered through a pump. not massively keen on doing it but I figured it cant be much worse than the recycled water they use at car washes these days.... makes me sad knowing it probably wont be washed for another couple of months.

i got swindled into buying this carwash in a can stuff at a BP servo the other day he pulled out all these facts like ferrari use it on their cars in the pits and stuff like that its a wash and wax in one and i tell u what it comes up fkn awesome aye. all u do is spray a bit on and then give it a wipe as though u are waxing the car. absolutely no water involved and the finish is awesome and it takes no time to clean ur car. it was even able to lift the black marks off my rear bumper from the exhaust. just a suggestion.

Whats wrong with tank water?

I don't think there is anything wrong with tank water. It does depend on where you live tho. All the polution and shit that is in the atmosphere often comes down in the form of rain with a not so paint friendly pH. But I don't think brisbane really has that problem. The tank I used has a pump on it anyway which has a filter to remove any crap from the water. Its not my tank so thats why I dont use it regularly to clean my car.

HAHAHA THEY GOT ME 2

this girl is all like get this is stops finger marks on ur windows... so she sprays it and i touch it and my finger marks appeared i was all like ahhhh.... ok

then she goes on about how her bf has won all this sound comps and if i went to the last 1 at auto barn and all this and then when she went to her car to get her bfs card she says my car got sollen so thats why she was driven a shit box....

i dunno seems like a gimmek to me id rather use good old water and elbo greese to clean my riceline... water from a car wash of coarse...

i wash mine every week now since i got my water tank installed...need to keep on washing coz the 3000L tank is constantly overflowing due to the rain we've been getting :domokun: Nothing wrong with tank water...no different to driving ur car in the rain except I chamois it dry straight after washing...

Yeah nothing wrong with tank water...

I wash mine weeklly also as if you do it often its less of a job to keep clean...

Your 32 looks really clean...

So whats with this waterless wash, i thought what a waste of money but they really do work hey??? I just thought if you had like thick dust/dirt on your panels all you would be doing it scratching the dirt into the clear coat and basiclly destroying your paint. But you say they work well???

down here in vic, we can still use the carwash - but what i do is, i was the car like once a month or so, and the other 3 weekends, i just use the waterless cleaning products form meguires - its quite good, as it gives a good detail. I would think that that would work awesome on your black 32

buy a meguiars waterless carwash kit. i haven't washed my car using water for almost a year...

if the car is only dusty or lightly dirty it works absolutely brilliantly.

all you need then is some cheap glass cleaner for the windows and you're set. the cheap export shit from supercheap works well and it also seems to work great on your mags too

its so sad, my r34 is fkn dirty, our driveway is road base, till we get it done, in the next few weeks i hope, so all this rain turns it shitty, so i cant exactly wash on it, else it gets all muddy, (which sucks evn more cos we have a huge ass water tank...32,000 L) i think ill stop in at a car lovers tonite...

Car looks teh sex mate. Simple R32's look the best imo.

cheers simmo.

and I agree with Col-GTSX, I would think if the car was really dirty it would scratch the paint using waterless spray wash.

amazingly it doesn't seem to have scratched mine. the spray is kind of like a wax, you spray it on and wipe it over the panels, then let it dry and buff it off. you just have to make sure you have sprayed the area well before you wipe the product into the paint. if it's too dry then i can see that it may scratch. it's just common sense really, if the car is covered in flecks of mud and dirt then yeah you'll probably need to wash it

if it's just dust or grime then the waterless is fine. if you keep it up once a week the car never really gets dirty enough to be a problem.

i reckon the end result is actually superior to using water - you don't need to use a chamious to finish the job (as you've already buffed out the product) and you don't end up with any water drop marks on the panels or glass.

if you like a clean car and you're on water restrictions give it a go, i can't recommend it enough :P and no i don't sell the stuff

sweet looking R32 btw.

    • Per Mark Roberts of Sonictune: Mark Robert Author At this time, no. No ETA either 2016-17 models. You will be able to purchase and install a 2018.5+ TCU though   TCU purchasing and pricing info! As we near the release of TCU tuning, I am going to answer some questions I get asked often.   What do I need for TCU tuning? At this time, you will need a 2018.5+ TCU to be able to tune. If you have a 2016-to early 2018, you will need to replace your TCU with the newer version. One good way to know if your TCU is good is if you have auto upshift in manual mode in 1st gear around 6500 rpms. If your manual 1st gear goes to 7k rpm and will hit the rev limiter unless you shift, you have the older TCU.   Why do I need to buy another ecu license/phone flash if I already have it on my ECU tune? The TCU is its own computer module. It is completely separate from the ECU. Because of this, you will be required to purchase a TCU license and, if your tuner has it, the phone flash license required to tune it via phone/bluetooth.   Do I need TCU tuning? TCU tuning is NOT required. However, the faster your setup, the more it will assist in track and dragy time consistency.   If I’m ECU tuned by (tuner A) can I get my TCU tuned by (Tuner ? Yes, since it’s a different module and a completely separate flash, you can have two different tuners. However, it is highly recommend that you have both tuned by the same tuner. For me, my TCU tuning will directly complement my ECU tuning style and features and running my ECU and another TCU or vice versa MIGHT cause some issues. At this time and for the foreseeable future, I will only be tuning my current ECU tuned customers TCUs.     I have a SYVECS AWD controller. Do I still need it? Yes! The AWD controllers main job is to control your AWD system. However, with TCU tuning, you will no longer need the auto-shift function as that will be done through the TCU. The AWD controller will still be very beneficial for racers looking to maximize traction on the launch.     Shift schedule changes: holding gears longer at lower pedal input as well as max shift rpm changes. Please note, the new ECU race rom coming out will address 90% of the shitty drivability issues these cars have through custom maps from myself and Racebox—as well as others I am sure.   Increase shift speeds: as seen in the videos I’ve been posting, the TCU shifts much faster once tuned.   Increased shift pressures: as also seen in the videos, much firmer full throttle shifts.

    • The fancy pants red shock tower brace is finally incoming from MX5 Mania, getting it shipped from 'Merica has been a long and problematic process, and GWR, the 'Merican supplier will not ship directly to consumers outside of the US, Mania basically had to order a heap of them, the colour choice was silver, or red, and we all know anything red adds 5 killerwasps of dynotorques..... Whilst it does fit over a 2.5, and I've seen a few photos and videos of it being installed and fitting, google also says it might get real close to the FAB9 intake front runner, people in the US says it does fit with the FAB9 intake, except for one person who said it slightly touched.......so there is that.....LOL..... As it seems that I am the first in AU to have this combination of parts there's no local knowledge about fitment, so I'm just a willing guinea pig in this endeavour, I'll cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best In other news, I ordered stuff from China  on the same day I ordered the 23° silicone bend from Victoria, the stuff from China arrived a day ago, the 23° silicone bend is still travelling around Australia thanks to Australia Post, and "may" be here next week
    • Very good news...I contacted Racebox about it last night. My car is a 2016 so remains to be seen if it is compatible, requires a TCU swap, or is impossible.
    • What ECU are you running? This is probably the biggest question. If it's a PowerFC, I'd probably change the ECU and get something newer that will handle the injectors in a nicer way.
