Can you get compliance if Nissan Australia is going to officially import and sell the car? I was under the impression that if a car is sold through a local arm of a car manufacturer then that model couldn't be imported unless it was a personal import.

Maybe thats why the car in question is not available for street use.

you can import cars not sold here as long as they are on the SEVS list (meet certain requirements, basically, power/weight ratio) and they weren't sold here AT THE SAME TIME. The Rx-7, S15 were both sold here but can also be imported as long as you choose a year that they weren't here OFFICIALLY. As we won't be getting the GTR until 2009, that leaves any 07/08 GTR eligible for import... BUT

Nissan OZ seem to be making quite sure there is not going to be a market for this car, so don't expect any "grey" GTR's to make it here for road use

how are they making sure theres donna be no market for it exactly?

I suspect the first Australian market one will be "sold" very soon... it is probably here already

Well that is what I would do if I was Nissan Oz.
