"guy i know would have paid cash for a new Lambo, but the dealer wouldn't let him do an overnight test drive"

Right... he had $400K+ on him did he? I hope he had deep pockets

Anfo - you could be on a winner there mate... i'll throw one of my bitches at him as a distraction!

Only problem is getting my hat in the car, the feathers make it quite tall...

How bout, Pick up the guy who runs the audi shop... sleep with him and use him for test driving cars..

My sister seems to have it under control lol.

i just thought of another one apart from the boxster one, go with a mate, but have him hide outside, but where he can see you, you go in browse around for a bit, then either wait for one of the sales reps to come up to you, or call one of them over and start talking, asking lots of questions about the car, then while mid conversation, drop a little signal, touch your ear or something, to let your friends know to call you, at which point, politely say 'pardon me one second..' answer and it start talking out of your arse

'look! i told you before, drop the Williams account, that bottom feeder thinks he can run my company because he put 800 grand in, f*ck him, Charletons got 6 mill ready to roll, and if you call me on my day off again, you can go find another job, now F@#$ oFF!'

"sorry bout that, so how do i get a drive of this thing again?"

*foreign accent might help too, but that might be going too far?*

that said if you walk in with a sawn off they arent likely to say no either :whistling:

VB - it sounds like you have done this before :) great plan

Decimate - how much cash are we talking? I don't think I will show them that :whistling:

Hmmm sleeping with the Audi guy would be quite hard if he doesn't swing that way... well maybe your sister could line me up a drive?

Better judgment says I shouldn't reply to this thread, but anyway...

Your chances are slim at best.

Here's a few options...

1. Join P1 (it's the Christmas gift that keeps on giving!)

2. Come work for me (I need a delivery/carwash helper in Santuary Cove at the moment - email me if you are available)

3. Become a respected journalist (you need to learn that you are is abbreviated as you're and not your first)

4. Catch me on a good day here in Melb (few and far between at the moment, but I have been known to throw the keys to the SL65 to Brisby...)

5. Work for Audi

So you know how easy it isn't...

One of my customers went to Audi in his own F355 and still had to actually order a car and then wait 2-weeks for them to offer him a test drive.

Supervised. Just round the block.

Same guy rang me to say mine was stable but had a bit of wind noise at over 200kmh.

I know which way is more fun :whistling:

funniest thread ever

seriously though, go and rent or borrow another quality car (sorry but Jap won't cut it, unless it is a late model NSX)

Ring them up before you go in, make an inquiry about a lower spec Audi, ask them if they will do a trade in on whatever it is you have (hopefully it is something above $100k for an R8).

Make an appointment to test drive the lower spec car, show up in the "borrowed" car make sure they see you arrive and ask them to give you an evaluation for trade, then start asking about other cars, eventually working your way to the R8, ask if you can take it for a test drive, they will probably say no. Say you will be in touch regarding what you were able to test drive.

Come back a week later and ask again, make sure you get the same sales person.

You will find them to be more compliant this time around. This will be the time to start asking about what is required to purchase the R8.

Let them start to work out the figures, you will have to do your research here on how much you need to earn to pay for this. For gods sake do not say you work for someone else, even if you are a lawyer or Doctor. You will only be able to own this car if you have your own successful business.

Tell him you are really interested but you are also looking at a couple of other cars - Porsche GT3 or BMW M6 for example. However you will not proceed negotiations any further without a test drive. This may happen on the second visit or maybe the third.

You will not have to dress up (in fact some of the richest people I have met, wear shorts and T-shirts to this kind of stuff) under no circumstances act like a wanker unless you want them to bring the car to your $3+ million dollar Mansion for test driving a couple of days later.

But realistically I think they will call your bluff, if you have no history with them like Jamezilla said.

At that end of the market you are easily verifiable or you are a tyre kicker, simple as that.

Whatever BullSh*t it takes to get the job done ....then do it..Then drive that son of Biatch like you stole it...!! Totally rape the car, gutter to gutter drift.Hand the keys back and say " No I am actually a little disappointed...After driving this and my Skyline, Sorry to say but my skyline is far superior"

Nexus 9 I think you have it down pat! I think you may have had a bit of work to get the M3 drive yes?

PS Love that model M3 and thought about buying one but I cant let my line go yet...

GTR-32U - Hahahaha I can assure you if I get this drive it will not be gentle  they are meant to be driven and thats what will happen!

On a funnier note I was thinking for a sign off:

Picture me just getting out of the car and saying this to the salesman.

"This car is much worse than that F430 the Ferrari dealer would NOT let me test drive"

Hahaha what a great sign off!!!!

"guy i know would have paid cash for a new Lambo, but the dealer wouldn't let him do an overnight test drive"

Right... he had $400K+ on him did he? I hope he had deep pockets

i love it when ppl comment on something they know nothing about

the guy in question is worth around $150 million dollars, so yes- it would have been nothing at all for him to put a new Murcielago Roadster on his Black Amex

well if you want to put it on your black amex they'll be charging you the extra 4% surcharge for sure :(

i guess he would have just sent his full-time lackey to the bank with a briefcase to take out $720K instead

i guess he would have just sent his full-time lackey to the bank with a briefcase to take out $720K instead

And thats when you know you've made it. When you have a full time lackey to just do stuff.

dont even bother my mate tryed it with an RS4 they organised a test drive and when he rocked up they asked for his creditcard and said that he has to have a minimum of $10000 limit on it.

JUST THINK OF THIS AS WELL WHAT IF U WERE TO DAMAGE THE CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT WOULD U DO THEN....?

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 馃槀 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
