Hi all,

I have purchased a Garrett GT3076 .82 turbo, along with GCG highmount manifold and Turbosmart ex gate.I was wondering if some members could post some pics of similar setup as so i can get an idea of how they have set their wastegate plumbing.Ive heard that this will be important to get right.I would like to go screamer option(until i get annoyed with it) for a while as the car will mostly be used for track days.

Hoping to crack 300rwkw with this setup.I already have Poncams and will be running 18psi.

The motor will be built in the coming weeks(months) as i gather the parts, but will still run the car with this turbo until i pull the motor out.

Happy times.

CHEERS

P.S Lithium saw your car on YouTube, good to see both .63 and .82 comparisons.

What do you mean by the gate setup dude?

The manifold should accommodate the gate.

Then all you need to do is put it on really and get someone to make up the rest of the piping for the screamer/plumb and so on.

Meaning.Does the pipe off the wastegate need to be a certain length if going the screamer type?

Or does it need to be plumbed in along the dump pipe at a certain point so i dont have any flow dramas?

Ive heard if the wastegate pipe is plumbed in at a bend it can cause hassals.

Correct me if im wrong.

I had my ext wastegate plumbed back in at the bend and flowed an easy 330rwkw @ 18.7psi on stock cams...

3" Exhaust system all the way through and a high flow cat...

I also had a GT30 0.82 and a high mount manifold... Same setup...

Hi Col,your turbo was a GT30/40 wasnt it?

Sorry yes it was... :D

The first of them when they put in the dual BB cartridge...

EDIT: Reguardless I dont see a hassle plumbing it back in at the bend, does not matter where you plum it in its gonna cause a slight disturbance to the flow. Just have the shop plumb it in at the least angle possible, to help the flow... But to be honest the exhaust pressure at 300rwkw is like opening up the flood gates at a dam...

Yeh your right. How do i go about the whole mocking up process for a dump/screamer?

Would i need to tow the car to my exhaust shop? Create a template of some sort and get it made up?

Just tow it to the exhaust shop and let them have it...

Mine cost $280 that was a new dump from the back of the turbo and a pipe from the wastgate all back to the cat...

I think that was an awesome price considering they spent a good 4 hours doing it...

I am looking at getting the gcg high mount manifold too, these are the pics i was sent.

In these pics it seems to me the pipe the gate mounts off goes towards the front of the car and not the rear, and im not 100% sure that is right.

Do you have and pics of your manfold BOOSTED? Also any reason you went the turbosmart gate and not the tial??

cheers

dont u guys think that a 3076 is abit small for a 2.5L engine??

i would personally go with a GT35 series turbo on a 2.5L engine

Nope, IMO they are the perfect size.

Having had a 600hp GT30 turbo on a 2.5ltr motor, i wouldnt do it again. Just too unresponsive for a street driven car.

GT35, 700hp, too big.

Decent power @ 4500rpm doesnt make a fast street car.

My RB26, GT-SS setup feels heaps faster @ 250rwkw than my RB25/GT30 setup did @ ~280rwkw because there is power everywhere.

Its a good design.

The did have issues with thier older models cracking and what not, but this was going back a few years.

And since then a few cars ive been told are running without problem that use them

alternatively there are a few local makers now producing good products

6boost

Extreme Turbo Manifolds

etc etc

Cheers ash,

im pretty familiar with what else is around i was really just concerned with the way the pipe that the w/g mounts on appears to go towards the front of the car, rather than the rear. I know they wouldnt make something that didnt work but just thought i would throw it up here for discussion. :D

Nah you'd attach the gate upside down

Then the screamer pipe would be pointing towards the REAR of the car if you turn the gate and have the outlet facing the rear

If its made for an R33 RB25, then clearance wont be an issue.

that looks 2jz ish or maybe the photo is inverse.... cause why the hell would you run the gate that way???

EDIT: just had a close look and im 99% sure it is 2jz or 1jz. i think that is just a pic they use for refferrence.

Cool congrats on going with that setup, look forward to seeing how it goes with cams etc.

Would you like to post your RB26 GT-SS dyno plot? It would make for some interesting comparison. I overlayed my .82a/r GT30R dyno plot with my stock turbo one and I have overtaken the stock turbo by 3500rpm, so you are effectively saying the RB26 + GTSS will make better power everywhere than an RB25 ever will - perhaps short of putting a smaller than stock turbo on it and converting it into a tow setup.

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
