It may be the first time a race win has been stripped, but definitely not the first time someone has been passed from cutting a chicane and then let them back passed only to pass them straight away on the next straight. Suzuka 05, Alonso did the same thing to someone, cut the chicane, got in front, then had to give the position back, but then just passed him straight away on the straight again. Then few laps later, was ordered by the stewards to let the other guy past again.

25s is a bit harsh, but I don't think it was a fair pass.

I was there and i saw that.

Such a marginal decision though wouldnt you agree?

To have him stripped?? Cmon, thats got to be bias.

I said 25s is a bit harsh, but I don't think it was a fair pass on Kimi, and I guess the stewards agree with me.

LOL at M3qtr ranting hamilton fanboi :D

Yeah, i support him. Hes awesome.

The point isnt about him though, even inspite of the fact he is in the middle of it.

There are dogs in the FIA out to get McLaren at all costs.

Weve seen it thousands of times. I 100% believe it now.

Im not ranting, im venting by the way...as are millions of others, not only those who support LH, but those who love F1...

I found this post in the planet F1 forum and to be honest i couldnt agree more with what this guy said.

Top post.

"What are you talking about? There was nothing last year that even remotely resembled this decision. This has been going on for too long and it's too obvious now. Lewis and Heikki get grid penalties and drive throughs every time they put a wheel wrong and the Ferrari guys don't get more than a slap on the wrist. Lewis was given a 10 place grid penalty following his accident in Canada. 10 places! I mean, you'd think crashing out would be penalty enough. Heikki was given a five place grid penalty in the same race for blocking Mark Webber in qualifying and Webber himself said that Heikki didn't block him.

At Spa, Heikki made a mistake and hit Webber trying to make a pass. It was a bad move but not much different than what Truli did at the start or what Coulthard has done countless times this year. Why give him a drive through penalty? Then there was the farce of a decision that came down after the race. Lewis shortcut the chicane to avoid a collision with Raikkonen who had left him absolutely no room. He then gave the position back before taking Raikkonen again under braking. What more should he have done? Afterwards, Kimi got past him again thanks to Nico Rosberg and then lost the lead again due to a spin. It wasn't even the final lead change! After Raikkonen crashed out it should have been case closed. To go back and make a purely subjective call that changes the landscape of the title race is incomprehensible.

What about the incident later in the race when Kimi and Lewis both ran wide in the same turn and Kimi just gunned it through the run-off area while Lewis returned immediately to the track? Was that not an offense? What about the previous race in which Massa was found guilty of a dangerous pit release? Why only a fine and absolutely no penalty? What about France when Kimi ran almost an entire stint with a dangerous mechanical failure? Why wasn't anything done about that? This is just getting silly. I can't take much more of it to be honest with you."

Although, He forgot to mention that KR nearly killed AS and wasnt even blinked at...

Maybe a grid penalty at Monza? But it's not exactly my call is it?

I think a 10,000 Euro fine would have been the utmost maximum fine to slap them with.

Fark, i still cant believe how horrendously biased the FIA is towards Ferrari.

Theres a lot of money changing hands behind closed doors to keep it this way, you can be sure of that.

In my eyes as well as millions of others, LH was the winner of the Belgian 2008 GP.

Likewise, in my eyes as well as millions of others, LH wasn't the winner of the Belgian 2008 GP.

ffs Marco i know how much Ferrari skunk you smoke but you sit there and try and tell me Ferrari and MS didnt deserve a penalty for this??

Did they get one?

Again, yeah what are you smoking?

contrast that bullshit with this obvious attempt to go with the rules and look what happens - a win ffs is stripped away!!!

m3gtr,

i've got a tin foil hat here for you, you dont want the FIA reading your through now.

conspiracy theory...

but all jokes aside, where is your prove that FIA is in bed with ferrari and is out to get mclaren? i said Proof not the FIA hands penalties to McLaren, and YOU or other fans view them as unfair

i thought Louise did enough to give the place back and passed KR fair and square but the Gonzo incident shows a distinct precedent about giving back the distance not just the place.

Webber was probably robbed of several points by the HK error and the penalty HK got was too light considering what it cost the man with the biggest chin in F1. nevertheless it was correctly assessed and thats how it goes.

when Hamilton and Vettel's actions conspired to destroy MW's vomit enhanced Japanese race, how was the end result of that fair? how do you penalise those guys in a way that makes MW whole?

you simply can't.

i think LH has been robbed (morally) of the points considering his pace at the end. if the same thing happened 10 laps out he would have been sweet.....it wasn't, it didn't and that's F1 racing.

ffs Marco i know how much Ferrari skunk you smoke but you sit there and try and tell me Ferrari and MS didnt deserve a penalty for this??

Did they get one?

Again, yeah what are you smoking?

1. Not smoking fck all..

2. I watched that race, I cringed when I saw that. I was hoping Schumi would pit for dry tyres.. He deserved a drive through, I would've done it if I were the stewards. Schumacher or not..

3. Maybe wait for my pov on a certain matter before accusing me of bias Mr Fanboi...

4. I'll reiterate that I still beleive cutting the bus-stop gave Lewis an unfiar advantage into La Source, he gained from that advantage and that is why he got penalised..

Hang on.

Lewis did NOT give the position back that time, and was slugged.

Completely different? He was ordered to come in for a stop go for not allowing the other car to re-pass. In this instance the race was not long enough, he gained an advantage by cutting the corner. Out of a slow wet corner like onto the pit straight it is unlikely that Hamo would have been able topull the move.

Hamo, is his own worst enemy. Kimi was the pioneer leading, so Hamo only was able to pace himself and judge grip levels by following Kimi. If was only going to be a matter of corners that Kimi would come to a corner and the grip level woudl be different to what he expected.

Hamfist is great to watch, becuase he does silly things like this. I am glad to see Alonso is over his early year shocker where he was doign silly things in races. Hamo is good at overtaking as he often puts his car in do or die situations...he continues to be too impatient.

Hell only a few races ago he was talking about how nobody will over take me around the outside again. So he knows its his job to defend his line and position. Tough decision, but again, its a situation that Lewis shoudl have avoided.

I cant believe i am starting to feel sorry for the guy, he is his own worst enemy.

But as Salad pointed out, Alonso was penalised for the same thing a few years ago. So dont be too quick to start the "McLaren are victims" thing.

yeah, that's re-addressing the pass! are you guys serious? LOL in which nano-second did Hamilton yeild to the Ferrari??? I think I missed it somehow. Kimmi had to fight for every last inch of getting his car back in front

Big difference between taking you line and unnecessarily running somebody off the road. Kimi already had the corner, left no racing room for lewis to continue in so he took avoidable action and chose not to bump a ferrari because we all know the penalty for daring to do that.

you see that done all the time in F1. take your blinkers off. And in a situation where the driver in front has nothing to loose and the one attempting the pass needs the points, he ain't going to make it easy!

with lewis’ proven overtaking skills and obvious wet weather advantage, you can argue there are wildly various degrees in difficulty between the two, especially in this occasion. Kimi was a sitting duck.

hmm, didn't Kimmi pass Homo again after that incident??? not bad for a sitting duck.

Argh, ffs Roy and marco

Lewis DID NOT gain an advantage.

ffs! How the hell is going over painted white lines and dirty rubber marbles an advantage as opposed to being on the drying racing line?????

He was the same distance behind KR after the start finish line as he was when they went into the bustop!!!!

He didnt back off? Are you serious? Was Kimis car in front of Lewis after the chicane by the same distance as before?

A) YES? Then Lewis backed off

B) NO? Then go back and look at the video again. Pause it if you will at the moments in question. Then come back and answer option A.

Bloody hell some of you are blind. So...

1.LH was outside into the busstop. AHEAD on the outside.

2.KR brakes deeper and get a little squirrely.

3.LH sticks to the outside line which is perfectly fine.

4.KR tries to muscle LH over. Succeeds in being dirty.

5.LH takes evasive action because there is NO other choice.

6.LH cut the chicane.

7.LH GIVES THE POSITION BACK IMMEDIATELY and is trailing KR into turn one.

8.LH has telemitary to back the speed difference up.

9.The gap going into the busstop and coming across the start finish line is exactly the same.

10.LH outbrakes a frantic KR into turn 1.

11.GAME OVA.

oh no wait...

12. LH has win stripped from him and Massa walks away short a little pocket money.

Where the f**k is the penalty here and the justification to strip a WDC leader of 10 points, award his main rival 2 extra and reduce what would have been an 8 point advantage into 2 point advantage???

You tell me for the sake of argument.

Youve got to be kidding>?

Like every man and his dog cant see that as plain as day, lol.

Get real man... :D

Adam, i lvoe how passionate you are about Louise, but perhaps its you that needs to sit back and be a little more unbiased in your assessment of the situation.

I am not going to argue with you, the fact that Lewis punted it up the outside, good luck to him. But when he has to surrender track position as he has put himself in an awkward spot, he cant then mark the road, say how close he was to Kimi, then claim that proximity.

FFS, look at how 1/3 of the way down the pit straight he is side to side, there is no way out of a slow corner like that he woudl have even, ever, ever been in that position. I mean do you really think that if Lewis had followed Kimi through the corner he would have gotten the drive out of the corner to pull up alongside him??

Anway, the penalty is harsh, but he did the crime. Perhaps 5 or 10 positions was warranted for next race qualifying pos. But the offence means a stop go so in fairness the application of the 25sec penalty is at least consistant. Teh fiscal fiens are usually when there was no contact, palces/results affected, just a breach of a rule.

    • I wanted to try and preserve the front bumper as long as possible, they're not cheap and are made to order in Japan. Taking inspiration from my previous K11 Micra build where I made an undertray for the Impul bumper, I did the same for this BN Sports bumper but a little slimmed down.  This time round I only made a 'skid plate' (if that's the correct wording/term) for just the bumper surface area, the Micra version covered the gap like an undertray. Starting off with a sheet of mild steel approx. 0.9mm thick 4ft x 2ft in size. I traced around the bumper, cut it out and cleaned the edges. Luckily I was able to get two halves from one piece of metal In the video I installed it as is, but I've since then I've removed it to spray and add a rubber edging trim. The rubber trim is suitable for 1-2mm and it's a really nice tight fit. The bolts had to be loosened due to the plates being too tight against the bumper, the trim wouldn't push on I used some stainless M6 flat headed bolts for a flusher finish (rather than hex heads poking down), I believe this style fastener is used for furniture too incase you struggle to source some. The corner's are a little wider, but this may be an advantage incase I get close to bumping it  The front grill got some attention, finally getting round to repairing it. Upon removal one fixing pulled itself out of the plastic frame, one side is M8 that fixes inside of the frame, where as the other side is M5. Not knowing I could get replacements, I cut down an M8 bolt, threaded it inside the frame along with a decent amount of JB Weld.  The mesh was replaced to match the bumper. One hole on the bonnet/hood had to be drilled out to 8mm to accommodate the new stud, once the glue had set it could be refitted. I think the reason the grill was double meshed was to hide the horn/bonnet latch (which makes sense) but I much prefer it matching the bumper Bumper refitted and it's looking much better IMO The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVZP35io9MA
    • The video for the servicing and fuel filter change can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLJ65pmQt44 One of the main jobs I wanted to do before the car officially went on the road, was to remove the awful looking blue silicone hoses. There's nothing wrong with having coloured silicone hoses, but I realise as I'm getting older I prefer monotone engine bays with a splash of colour on the engine cover(s). I cover this in a lot more detail in the Youtube video, so unfortunately there's limited photos of the process. The intercooler, upper radiator, boost vacuum and upper breather hoses were all changed to black silicone with mikalor clamps. The only blue left is a blanking cap at the back of the inlet manifold and the GReddy pulleys (which will be replaced for stock when the cambelt gets replaced) While the intercooler pipes were off I gave them a quick clean/polish too A before photo I do have a replacement air filter on its way. Fuse box covers were painted blue, they're now satin black Another job on the list while the bumper was off, is to add some mesh https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54737966256_99b28bfa30_c.jpg[/img] I was hoping to use some thin wire to secure it, but it seems I've misplaced it and the wire I had was too thick to twist easily. I ended up using cable ties for the time being https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54737131882_c2b7989dcc_c.jpg[/img] Was pleasant to see this https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54737131627_8b2aab13b3_c.jpg[/img] The last thing to do was to fix the front grill and re-mesh that to match but I ran out of time The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4FsF6tgizE&t=23s
