Yes Steve agreed....

But surely Steve you as a man in the industry must see people come in and tell you what they want and how they what to do it and wonder what the fark they are doing.....

I made the mistake of buying a safc + ecb. They did increase the cars power - but a more sensiable and expandable soluton would have been to keep saving foe another $500 and bought an full wolf ecu of you for 2000 fitted and tuned. Car would go better, have room to expand mods and giving me more options (like runninf rotation idle, etc)

Daniel

hey cam dunno if steve told you but the wolf plugin control boost as well. so that would mean that you could ditch the evc, afc, itc and then plugin that wolf.

Would'nt it be worthwhile investing in a not so large intercooler. evo cooler or maybe a quality item like the ARC cooler on japanese motorsport (if it werent for the price)

definately the pineapples, which DR Drift can get for us fairly cheaply in a group buy and I might also be able to pull strings

but also an uprated sway bar and a rear tower braceand the hicas lock kit, AND BUSHES

alot to invest in suspension (without going drift suspension) but it should make a very noticeable difference to the cornering and handling and the ability to feel where and how the car is going to react and the severity of its reaction.

i mean even if you have average power like 240+ horses at least you know you can drive your car at the limit of those horses most of the time, which will really be faster and you wont have to be so tentative.

i am not sure on the intercooling though as I would like to walk REVs path first and then see from there. (Flywheel etc) but I am really a fan of the evo coolers and the stocko R32 gtr onwards coolers. $650 through hikari

push and i am sure you can get it to your door for $650

we have to set aside a cat bashing day (take it however you want) for a few lines and do it properly or a cat modyfying day with a pipe through it after the excavating.

okay I am tired of typing now

its way past my bedtime.

laters

Thanks for the input guys - and Dan, you're onto something with the turbo I think - it more comes to my budget - thats why I was trying to suggest low budget things...

No_respect - great to see the S14 for sale and not the line.. bashing can be organised for next weekend maybe?

Zanda - thanks for the tentative bit.. :) I supose it looks like I'm scared of my car when I'm driving hey? ;) :cheap dig at No_respect:

My plan is:

1. Get the existing shite tuned so at least it's running properly

2. Upgrade suspension as mentioned by No_respect

3. Then look at how it goes and work out priorities..

4. If priorities (ie: buying house) allows - it'll be front mount then wolf then turbo... :)

Dan - The only reason I have the piggy back stuff hanging off my car is that it came with it. Otherwise I don't think I would've spent the $$ on it - would've gone straight for a Wolf or Powerfc.

ahh yes the cheap digs rule

I will speak to the DOC and sort out a group buy, anyone wanting in expect to pay around $100 i think so PM me please if you want. and I will get final prices

Paul if you read this, i forgot to give you money, i will do so shortly.

sorry

May I suggest that you do the management first and then base the intercooler choice on what sort of turbo and power level you are after.

i would go a vr4 front mount before a supra front mount

have you seen the soarer intercooler very tasty item, about $300 though i dont think its worth it

zanda can get ya a vr4 one for under $250 with some fine print

http://www.whiteline.com.au/docs/fact_shee...line_R33GTS.PDF

That link will take you to what whiteline offer for upgrading the handling of the r33. The springs, shocks and swaybar seem the go... will cost you around $2000 upwards though

I have just been in Imacul8 WRX. All thats been done to it is a VF22 Turbo and Butler 3.5" exhaust. Prob cost about $5K tops including install. The thing should be good for high 12's low 13's as is.

I can't think of $5K of mods on a Line that would get the same results.

Rev , Steve etc your opinions ?

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day
    • While I was waiting for the new parts to come in for the charge pipe and radiator I decided to do some turbo modification. The drive pressure (exhaust backpressure) was a lot higher that I thought it should be. For 32lbs of boost drive was 55lbs. The turbine housing is a 1.10AR and my turbo builder has suggested to go to a 1.25AR. To test if a larger AR would do anything to reduce drive pressure AND not spend any money I decided to hog out the divider in my current housing. I removed it from the inlet and the whole way through the housing.  After reassembly and testing it doesn't look like this modification did anything for reducing drive pressure or requiring more fuel (making more power). Oh well, it was worth a shot. We'll get some data at the track if it makes it past the 60ft. I also machined a $7 shift knob off Amazon to fit my Stillway shifter since I didn't like the Stillway shift knob. Next on the list was the radiator replacement and fabrication of a new intercooler tube that had no silicon coupler. No pictures of this - I was short on time each night after work to get this done and didn't stop to take pictures.  Next was to get the clutch disks out and replaced. Previously when installing the dogbox I had ordered a set of the same sintered iron disks I had been running because I switched to the 26-spline input shaft. I thought it was odd that they didn't have any markings or brand name on them like all my old disks had but installed them anyway. At the track I could not get the clutch to lock up using my normal strategies. After two track nights I reached out to the clutch manufacturer and ask their thoughts. They said they had to switch the material out because they were having trouble getting the original material and that this new material would not take to being slipped very well.  So out with the first set of 26-spline disks and in with the correct material 26-spline disks. While I had the trans out I added an inspection/service hole. I've wanted one of these for a while. Now I can have a look at things and change the front cover shimming when needed (clutch wear). I hustled and got the clutch change done in a few hours on a Saturday. Hopped in the car and drove home. On the way home I did a 1-3 pull. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd the core plug in the back of the cylinder head popped out and dumped all the coolant. Thankfully I was only 30 seconds from home and coasted it there. Datalog showed nothing unusual and 2.5psi of coolant pressure. That plug has been in there since 1992 but I guess it worked its way out. Pulled the trans AGAIN and replaced the plug, JB welded it in, and made a brace. Also deleted the head drain I had added in during the bearing issue fiasco.  I am currently changing my boost control plumbing to make it cleaner. After that is done I'll make another attempt at getting past the 60.
    • Are you 100% sure this isn't tune related?
    • 140-150 across the board. At this point hoping the grounding harness fixes it. My grounds are all tied to the chassis and none to the battery. For SR and KA that’s never been a problem for me but had a few other guys here and Reddit who told me RB really like a very solid ground setup tied to the battery so going to try that next, I’m stumped if that doesn’t do it. Never had a car have spark and fuel and not fire off before. Only thing I can think is the spark is intermittent/weak because of grounds nothing else really makes sense at this point
    • I am having close to the same issue. Can you help me with what wire you grounded to get your pump to trigger?
