Sounds good Birds. Hope it all goes well for you mate. An old PT mate of mine stuffed a tendon in his wrist (forget the exact injury but basically sheared off the bone I believe) but it was depressing the number of exercises that ruled out. He found ways to use wraps or particular machines to work around it as much as possible until it healed up completely

With legs being such a big muscle group too I think it should help burn the calories up

I've always had decent upper legs, they would be my best body part. Have never had to do too much to them to maintain volume and they respond well for me. Whereas back , shoulders etc I seem to need to work continually to maintain any size. I'm going to focus on the calves a lot more and hope for some sort of development there. apparently for some people it doesn't seem to matter what you do they just wont respond.

I'd near say thats me, starting with match sticks certainly doesn't help though.

on the contrary, don't have to work back, shoulders, chest as much for results.

Dat feel when you see people you haven't seen for like 6 months and straight away told me I look buff/bigger and what the hell have I been doing the last 6 months, Gym!

Twas' some good extra motivation :D

finally got round to watching Bigger, Stronger, Faster the doco, not sure what the point of it was, didnt seem to have much of a conclusion either for or against steroids.

made out that all supplements are crap and a waste of money but steroids may not be as harmful as we are lead to believe.

might have missed something but yeah, thats what i took from it.

this is what good documentaries are supposed to do... present both sides of the argument and let you make an informed decision... this is what journalism was like before people lost the ability to think for themselves and only respond to sensationalism

tell me what to think so I don't have to use my brain! aaaargh

I'm surprised he could bring it up to his mouth...guy looks like he'd need someone to feed him.

Damn legs are killing me after that legs workout, but it feels great! Shows me how neglected some groups are and that isolation movements do have their place in the gym.

because they're not

Good to hear from a less Angry Birds...

Nutrition question.

If I'm looking at say Yoghurt (though question applies to anything) am I better off with the tub that has less saturated fats or less sugar per hundred grams given roughly equal protein and normal fat amounts.

Just using Yoghurt as the example but I'm trying to make better choices with my foods, especially snacks, and get caught wondering if I should be aiming for less sugars or less fats in general.

It seems you either get one or the other.

I realise it's going to be dietary specific, so I'm just talking as a general guideline.

go grab a tub of natural Greek yoghurt... it's pretty bitter so I sweeten mine with honey

don't buy diet yoghurt... they just take out the fat and replace it with sugar

fat is good... sugar is bad... mmmkay

Edited by NickR33

I was on the right track then as I've been choosing the lower sugar options.

I get the Jalna yoghurt, set in pot and far less additives.

It's fine without honey, but I do throw in some almonds.

Sounds like a good leg session

Yeah, same, his biceps are too big to bend arm at elbow

What types of post workout meals do you guys have?

Universal Torrent straight after evening workout, is higher in carbs than protein

go home to have steak and some prawns maybe, plus steamed veggies and maybe a small portion of pasta depending on what carbs I had earlier in the day.

Sounds like a good leg session

Bloody oath. Overdid the calves methinks...can't stand flat footed. Really looking forward to squatting 3-4 times a week though!

Tried an empty bench bar in the same session and it didn't present any pain...I could be back to upper body sooner than I thought :)

Playing it safe though. Do we think it's worth doing movements like bench with an empty bar for rehab? Or just wait until completely healed and get back into the weights?

No idea mate and personally I wouldn't want to offer my broscience and screw you up even more... What's the physio say?

3-4 a week for squats = sounds pretty full on! You'll be getting doms for at least a day or two after each heavy squat session yeah?

    • Mixing things up - installed some leather recaros to match the leather seat covered rear seats. Interior looks pretty schmick now except for some slight wear on the steering wheel which I will monitor and address if it becomes worse or actually noticeable!

    • I'm normally copping my own abuse from neglecting my daily drivers. "Those suspension bushes will last a bit more", "Don't worry about the oil leak, just keep topping it up". The project cars I'm always doing things slowly on them as I'm wanting them to be done better, and neater, and nicer. Luckily I don't have to deal with 18 year old Matt's "Learning to wire" stuff in the project cars. And there's only one piece of wiring I'm displeased about in the Landcruiser, and it's about to be cut out... However, the box loads of parts that have been going through this place lately for the Landcruiser... Brake pads Brake Rotors Full handbrake overhaul Wheel Bearings Seals Swivel hubs Steering Boxes Half the suspension joints Shocks Air bags (Ones to go in the rear springs for towing) Water pump Timing kit Lower timing case Harmonic Balancer Radiator Lots of other little seals and shits Gas struts for the bonnet New power window switches And god knows what else I've forgotten... Ha ha ha I have my fingers crossed the pinion seals don't start leaking on the diffs, that the transfer case doesn't leak, and the gearbox input shaft doesn't leak, nor the rear main seal. As they're about the only seals I haven't replaced in the driveline! I'm seriously eyeing off buying new caliper rebuild kits front and rear brake calipers... I'll probably recheck all the valve clearances soon too, and hopefully, it should be all good and sweet to haul some long distance trips again!
    • Every time I pull my 3x gauges out of the console and see the crack-addict way that I did the wiring, and I just can't bring myself to tear it all apart and "make it nice", because it is currently working. In fact, the last time I was in there I probably made it worse.
