yeah my guess is it would run close to standard weight anyway. I mean sure you can remove standard heavy seats etc.

but then add an approved cage, extinguishers, terra-trip, terra-phone etc etc and you are back where you started. :P

that video of the GTR assembly line is kool. i work for holden's and i'm pretty sure we don't put that sorta time and effort into our cars but i guess we're making a hell of a lot more neway.

yer another holdens boy here arvos/body shop

Jut wondering any chance the gtr will make it to clipsal, i just want a looks thats all, even tho the veyron, zonda, konigsiegg (spelling) ect ect will be there i wanna see the gtr!

True, we're right on the limit at 1600 odd kg, what tyres it turns up on will be interesting. If it's dry for most of it, it's touch and go re tyres lasting for us, and i assume the 35 will be the same, but at the end of the day everyone's in the same boat. Make 'em last or cop the penalty. :P

I bet i know where that is on its way too :D so i called around the other day i was right very very NICE !!!!!some good work there boys i dont like pink but !i do NOW, it looks tops in real life keep up the good work

Can't comment enough on how good this thing looks.

I am now begging:

"Beat Porsche - Bloody Win!!!!!!! Or at least get to Day5 - I will be on 1 of the 99 bends out of Queenstown, I would really like to watch/photo the team Donut King R35 going through this unreal section"

"Watch out for ice/snow" - good luck,

Mike.

Mike, bugger Queenstown, get yourself onto the Very fast sweepers around the middle of Mt Arrowsmith where it opens onto the plains and over bridges. If it's not doing 280+ there I'll, well, I don't know what I'll do but I'll be really suprised :D

Oh no what a pain. Stop for someone?

Jason and I had a phat time chasing down Ayers in his 33 in 2006 in the area I describe above :D Two GTR's going at it at the top end of 5th :D

It was like something out of GranTurismo at Trial Mountain or something..... but so much.... realerer! And awesome! :P

we had to stop for an accident, and there were like 10 cars already stopped and blocking the road (even though one 1 is ment to stay with the crash!) so we drive in convoy to the end.

Hope to get all the way through this year

Yeah well the crew get weighed and the car goes over a weigh bridge at least once during competition.

I haven't actually checked the rules for Moderns, but I thought it stated minimum weight could be "factory weight less 10% plus 47 kg for safety equipement/cage etc.

Now, wouldn't that get a 35 around 1610kg odd? Like I said, I haven't actually checked the rule, so i could have just wasted your time in reading this  sucker!

it used to be -5% + 43kg back under LMS, but now M1 and M2 are factory + 43kg, M3 is -5% + 43kg now.

(a) the minimum weight must be in accordance with the manufacturers original specifications, provided either by details obtained from the following Government web site http://rvcs-prodweb.dot.gov.au/ (for vehicles listed), homologation/recognition papers, workshop manuals or sales specifications (in that order of priority).

This weight will be deemed to include all liquid tanks to be at the normal operating levels as foreseen by the vehicle manufacturer.

(b) Minimum competition weight for M1 and M2 will be established by taking the minimum weight as established in (a), plus 43kg (for tools, jack, one spare wheel and safety equipment). For M3, the minimum competition weight shall be established by taking the minimum weight as established in (a), less 5%, plus 43kg.

    • As I've said elsewhere, I am using the stock intercooler piping path in the engine bay, and a return flow cooler, and making ~250 rwkW (without any effort put into trying to turn it up past there just yet) and expect to be able to make some more, and frankly, I would be perfectly happy with 260-270rwKW. This is peak road Skyline usability territory. You go past there and, sure, the car will snap necks more when it's on boost, but it will also break shit all the time, cost a (even larger) fortune in tyres, etc etc. Anyway, I also do not like the over-the-fan pipe path, and you don't have to do it.
    • I see, honestly I’m not too fussed about the looks. The only reason to go plenum is to make the piping easier instead of the classic over the rad etc.
    • Not easy to quantify wrt something like how many fractions of a second slower it would be over 0-100. But given that a 250-300rwkW car is able to do that launch sprint in 5-6 sec (and faster with appropriate tyres, and surface)..... giving up as much as a second would feel like torture. A ~450HP capable turbo is not going to make lots of boost in the 2000-3000 rpm range. So, whilst with some boost on hand it will be faster accelerating in that rev range than your engine currently is NA, it will not feel like a fast car until the boost is solidly in. You know what your car feels like right now when you open it up at 2000rpm. if you've ever been in an actual fast car, you will appreciate that the NARB25 is.... not exciting. Well, add some boost and it will be better. But shorten the intake runners and it might not be better at all. It might come out better, but it could end up feeling the same. For me, it's not the 0-X km/h sprints that matter. It is easy to fry the tyres with anything over 200 rwkW. You can't use all the power available in 1st and 2nd anyway, you have to modulate the throttle. What matters is how the car reacts when you're driving in traffic in 4th or 5th and have maybe 2000 rpm on board, and you want/need to add some speed quickly, and don't have time for the downshift. It won't make boost, it will be all NA (at the speeds we're talking about - remember how fast you're going at 2000 in 4th! and don't plan on breaking the limit by too much.) So giving away NA torque is not what I would consider practical for a street car. And retaining that NA torque builds boost faster which makes the car faster. The flashy plenum is not actually better, unless you're looking at a track car where you can keep it on the boil all the time.
    • So how much difference does it make you think? Like 1 second in the 0-100?  I was have smaller turbo so hopefully that spools quick GTX2871.  currently it’s NA so you can imagine pretty slow, but I do want fast accusation a little as there’s not many places I’ll be driving where I go over 80 even near me. So 0-60 and 0-80 targets
