Ah so they managed to make the exhaust work? So proud of my boys :D

I heard there can be issues with PFC + Stagea but not sure what exactly, maybe thats why wiring was sent. Anyway I will inform him that you must have it purrrfect for D Day to avoid being shamed by a safety car.

Ciao!

Hahaha, a "Safety Car" like this one, right Duncan?

I'm waiting to see how you go with Duncan's R34 PFC so I can get mine installed too. I hope it turns out to be as easy as deciphering a few small issues with different triggers being on certain pins compared to the R33 PFC.

I've decided I'll show up for this :P. Put it on a dyno in October so I'm interested to see how different it could be. Hopefully I'll still get around the 145rwkWs I got then :P. I'm told its not bad for complete stock, except for my fully sick rims which add 500kWs to the fuel pump

how either of you spoken with Ando??? he got his powerfc up and running without any problems at all.

oh and i'm having powerfc problems too, i wouldn't mind some help from the boys at Hills too! I've tried everywhere, no one can help me

I think its just a stagea problem Liz there is some wierd wiring in the early ones.

Mark has a couple of good tools to work with PFCs, the offical apexi stuff, datalogit etc and a dyno of course. If he can't sort it out give up :)

There's a few things to overcome with the Stageas, Liz:

  • We're trying to use R34 PFC's on s2 R33 engines, Liz, which is where one of the issues is.
  • The s1 Stagea ECU, even though it *probably and most likely* runs an R33 program, has an R34 plug, which is problem two.
  • There seems to be a few different parameters run on different pins between R33 and R34.
  • The Stageas have AWD, and in that regard they're the only RB25-engined Nissans to use a turbo motor and AWD together (whether it's the R33 or R34 Neo).
  • Even the s2 Stagea, with the R34's Neo motor, needs mods to the PFC wiring to sort out issues with traction control and the engine light staying on.

That list is the stuff that I'm aware of so far, so who knows what else will pop up.

It HAS been done (I think Millenium Motorsport in Qld were amongst the first in Australia, but they were and maybe still are unwilling to share the information), so there's no reason why Duncan and I won't eventually be able to have s1 Stageas with the R34 PFC - it's just a matter of time and having all the correct information together to make it all happen.

Back on topic, I'm still keen for a run on the dyno, even with the standard ECU still in my car.

you can count me in *if i remember that its on* memory is pretty bad these days... im gettin old ya see hahahaha last time i put her on the dyno it made 165.5 @ the wheels not bad for a stocker with only a front mount on her.......

Post-it note on your PC monitor.

no prizes this year ? whats the point of winning if you get nothing out of it :D

ahhhh well my turbo shat itself, going for a rebuild so it should be ready to make an appearance if i still have enough $$ left over... rebuild gt3540 = $1000

I wasn't arguing btw.. i was just interested to know.

I'm going to give them a call.. if they can work out that, I'm sure they can help me

Yeah, I know that! I just figured I'd let you know what the deal was. I wish it was a lot easier, that's for sure!

I agree, if they can work that out (and here's hoping - fingers crossed) then yours shouldn't be a problem either.

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
