+1 for the Kakimoto Regu 06&R

I have one of these on mine, because I was looking for a quiet exhaust after having a rediculously loud exhaust on my previous car.

They are an awesome sounding exhaust that still has a deep rumble on idle and at WOT are amazing. I wouldnt have anything else. Had a lot of comments when it's been on the dyno about how good it sounds.

Also dont go with the Trust PE2 (not offence) but these are supposed to be slightly restrictive compared to the Kaki and other exhaust, this is how they are quieter rather than making better mufflers. This information was given by my tuner who had one on a Skyline and gained 10-15 kw's by replacing the mufflers.

Even just putting around... say sub 3500 RPM? WOT thats to be expected...

when i was just puting around it was still very noticeable that it was loud...but i think it was just loud because i had 3" dump and front the straight 3.5" to the "resonator" (Iif it is a resonator in the mega n1 exhaust) and then the canon.

i guess it would be a tad quieter if u had a cat. i mean just when i turn on the car in my driveway my 32 kinda made things vibrate in the house LoL and the burble was unbelieveable. WOT my 32 full on roared!

but if your gonna be pushing 400kw in ur gtr then i reckon have it loud lol.

full mega n1 on a 400kw 32 rb26....PORN

hey guys...

found this info on these exhausts:

Trust Pe2: ECR33 Skyline RB25 (turbo), Tip: 115mm, Pipe: 80mm, dB: 94 (normal dB:87)

HKS Hipower silent: ECR33 Skyline RB25DET (2-Door) Tip: 120mm, Pipe: 95mm, dB: 98 (normal dB:92)

Kakimoto Regu 06&R: Nissan - Skyline ECR33 - Pipe 80-90mm - Tail 150mm, db: 92db (normal: ??)

any1 got a clip of a PE2 or regu06&R on a skyline?

The stock (branded) japanese exhausts often have the right tip and pipe spec but

the single rear muffler is really restrictive. What is the point of paying for a 3.5" exhaust

that looks the goods when inside the muffler the air-path is more narrow?

of course you can get around that with a loud muffler but then you're over the legal db

limit both on track and street at full bore.

The only good exhaust has two mufflers, and the 3.5" path front to back for sub 400kw

or 4" front to back for over 400kw. And the 3.5" or 4" path must also not get chopped

down where you can't see it, in the mufflers. Without that there are problems making

higher boost or making the expected power at the lower boost leading to all kinds of

expenditures on things that don't solve the main issue: breathing.

If you know of one like that that has a japanese brand name on it, I'd like to hear

about it!!

Well it comes down to these cat back systems... both around the same price.. which should i choose???

HKS Hi Power 409 cat back system

OR

Kakimoto 06&R cat back system

The HKS will be louder (POsitive) but its not full stainless steel. (Negative)

The Kakimoto is quieter (Negative) but its full stainless steel. (Positive)

Help... Looking for best performance reali...

Whos running them whats your impressions?

over a year later, i'm asking myself the exact same question.

i love the search button! :P

Someone with the Regu 06R should get the exhaust tested and tell us whats the dB reading is!!!

Justjap just told me they've got the Regu06 in stock for 33GTR and I'm tempted again to downgrade mine for the benefit of a quieter and complying exhaust system (ok maybe not really possible to get it below 90 but 90-91 would be good enough).

there is major differences between the 2 exhaust as mentioned above.

one is mild one is stainless.

one does indeed look pretty but the fact that mild steel keeps heat inside the exhaust ensures a better power result due to higher velocity. i believe both are 3.5" exhaust so at the end of the day...for a BPU skyline your not gonna know the diff. on the other hand if you start getting aftermarket turbocharges with stroker kits. id proberly stick with the hks.

do not mix the hks hi power with the hks silent hi power. completely diff exhaust and sound completely diff aswell. one was built to maximize power and one was built to be legal

Don't discount the Apexi N1 Evolution either if you're looking for a reasonably quiet exhaust! Very nice sounding without any droning and starts to open iup (sound wise that is) over 3K RPM.

The only reason the the N1 evolution is quiet is because it has a built in silencer in the rear cannon which is approx 2.5inch. What is the point of having a 3inch which becomes 3.5 if they have a silencer in them. I have one on my GTR and ended up just cutting out the silencer which made it a lot louder, but also made more power.

Wierd tho, as far as i can tell the only difference between the Hi-Power and the Hi-Power Silent is the fact that the silent is stainless.

The Hi-Power Silent only has a cannon muffler on the rear, and a pathetic excuse for a resonator in the middle :)

Just threw my new 5zigen twin muffler cat back on the other day, and fark me, I reckon it would be quiet as stock! Cause my car is a daily, I couldn't really cope with the straight through exhaust I'd had on there, and now since they have the EPA coming up here and handing out 500 dollar fines, I figured I'd go to the other end of the scale.

So far so good - its incredibly quiet, but I've not noticed any performance drop, and the rear muffler at least is a straight through. It fits up perfectly, and sits a lot higher up than the Fujitsubo one I'd had on there.

after searching this site... i think i have finally decided....

i wanted a kakimoto rego to replace my bee-r exhaust, however thanks to some youtube vids, i never knew how much the hks silent sound so good! HKS it is. i will post a vid from the bee-r to hks once completed.

I have a 4" HKS exhaust on my 32, and its fairly loud, like well over the limit at idle and once you get up higher into the rev range it sounds magic, however its a very expensive exercise from a child support sort of angle, I don't know how many kids i've conceived accidentally giving it the full bananas  in front of an attractive lady :ermm:

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
