Always had a soft spot for these:

10HSV_m_m.jpg

Some of them looked good in their paint schemes, shame most of them today are about 1" off the ground with 24"chromes and big doof doof stereos

They are usually the fake ones.

I know of an original that makes 600hp NA on avgas. with stock wheels!

Although it galls me to do this (R31's can beat anything....)

DR30 power!

Hooks

cool vid. it's interesting that the old Grp A DR30 race car does Tsukuba in 1.03 on slicks and the current gen bog stock GTR on road tyres does 1 min flat! man times have changed.

The current V35 does it in 60sec? Is that right? Mark and Russ were only scant seconds faster on semis and mega power with lightened car etc... Sounds too fast to me isnt it?

yep, the R35 GTR road car does tsukuba in between 1.00 and 1.02 depending on who's driving. mines have now done a 59 using their own suspension and exhaust and lightly tuned ECU (but still on road tyres!).

now you know why Mark and Russ wanted one when they saw the R35 at Tsukuba back in december. from memory it was doing 1.01 or 1.02s on the day straight out of the box!

So this year at Tsukuba the garages might as well show up with showroom stock V35s huh, kinda takes the joy out of it all really lol

bah. that thing was just cruising around. lets see a std road tyred R35 beat this!

what were the race prepped (free engine management, exhausts, suspension, brake upgrades, semi slicks, cages etc) Evo's running at the 12hr in qualifying? 2:30? on a much smoother, wider and faster Bathurst track than the old DR30 ran on. I doubt a standard R35 on road tyres is going to be any match for those times, let alone the old DR on slicks!

yeah it's crazy how fast they go with fancy computers and the like. will be even quicker once they get a hold of some good size semi slicks.

Yeah, its getting like F1 on the road. Except F1 are removing drivers aids now, as opposed to Nissan and Mitsubishi who give drivers aids... (pun intended)

See that Toyota might be bringing back the Supra? or some sort of Supra-style coupe with lots of pistons and typically, 2WD? Im constantly amazed that a company like Toyota with all their resources has never tried to actually compete with Nissan, Mitsubishi and to a lesser extent Honda when it came to the top-line sportscars (GTR, NSX) or 4WD high performance sedans (Evo).

The GTR has been around since Adam was a boy and they've never tried to counter it with their own version, and it's not like the GTR turned into a Mitsubishi 3000GT which sank like a stone. The GTR is world recognised and forever famous the world over. You can't buy that name-branding publicity yet Toyota's left those laurels on Nissans mantle-piece...

Holy shit thats definatly 110%!

Don't forget the old mans school yard cruizer...one lap with a sound from the god's....nothing quite like a v12 at peek rev's.

want a lolly little boy!!!...lol

Sound from the God's belly rumbling cause he's hungry...

This will satisfy... and it isn't a Snickers though there are traces of nuts

    • Version 1 aluminium airbox is.......not acceptable No pics as I "didn't like the look.....alot" Even after all my "CAD", and measurements, the leg near the fusebox just didn't sit right as it ended up about 10mm long and made the angle of the dangle look wrong, the height was a little short as well, meh, I wasn't that confident that Version 1 was going to be an instant winner I might give Version 2 another go, there's plenty of aluminium at work, but, after having in on and off a few times, and laying in the old OEM airbox without the new pod filter and MAF, there may be an option to modify the OEM air box and still use the Autoexe front cover and filter.... maybe This >  Needs to fit in here, but using the panel, and not the pod, the MAF will need to fit in the airbox though> I'm thinking as the old OEM box and Autoexe cover that is sitting in the shed is just sitting around doing nothing, and they are relatively abundant and cheap to replace if I mess it up and need another, it may well fit with some modifications to how the Autoexe brackets mounts to the rad support, and some dremiling to move it get in there, should give me some more room for activities, as I don't want to move the MAF and affect the tune Sealing the hole it requires to stick it in the air box is simple, a tight fit and some pinch weld will seal it up tight  I am calling this a later problem though
    • and it ends up being already priced in as though you're just on 91RON without any ethanol. Car will lose a bit of economy as the short and long term fuel trims bring down the AFR back to stoich or whatever it is for cruise/idle for the engine.
    • Oh, you are right. But, in Australia E10 is based on 91RON fuel and ends up being 94RON. Hence it being the cheaper option for economy cars. The more performance oriented cars go for the 98RON fuel that has no ethanol mixed in. The only step up we have left then at some petrol stations is E85.
    • There is a warning that "this thread is super old" but they ignore that anyway...
    • With 10% Ethanol, we're talking 2-3% fuel consumption difference. The emissions reductions and octane boost in my opinion far outweigh this almost non existent loss.    My tanks sitting at 80%. Luckily that should go down fast as I'm on vacation again for the next two weeks.
