Hi All,

Im not sure how to ask for this type of help, but here goes......

Im in the IT industry, as alot of you are, however i made the move away from my comfort zone in the Riverland to Adelaide about 5 months ago, i also moved from Service to sales (yes i know stupid me), i was so bored with service type work after doing it for 10+years and wanted a challenge... well it is a challenge. I have been doing ok up until about 2 months ago and everything dried up, i cant seem to nail sales or meetings......

The company (ASI Solutions) i work for is a national company and we do quite a lot, from Manufacture of PC, Notebooks, Servers etc, plus have 24/7 help desk, and a swag of service engineers. if you want to see.... www.asi.com.au (website is a little lame IMO, but you get the idea) So the product and services is no problem. We also offer Free Audits for wireless, green (eco friendly), print and infrastructure... completely free, just to prove we know what we are talking about. We are aligned with all the tier 1 suppliers at the highest level, like HP, Lenovo, IBM, Acer, Promethean, 3Com etc. In Australia we look after all the JB Hi-Fi stores, Reject shops, Bakers Delight, Greater Union Cinemas, Dominos Pizza and the list goes on....

My problem is that Adelaide is a clicky place and people like to hear that someone referred us to see them, as im not from Adelaide i dont have those links, so im asking the great Skylines Australia SA community for help, im willing to compensate with your favourite drink or something similar in exchange for names and details of potential leads. So if you know of someone or company that needs help with any product or services (big or small) please email me. (dont forget all your details including nic on here so i can send you a thankyou) It could be where you work, friends telling you how the computers at their work are slow, or even if you need something.... let me know who you are and ill get you prices (SAU discount is good :D ill make sure of that! alot cheaper than Harvey Norman or Officeworks)

Before everyone says, get another job... i quite like it, nothing like working for a national company, and they are a great crowd..... Just the Adelaide Clickiness is the problem. I have also tried cold calling (4 weeks straight) and the hit rate isnt good... Promotions and marketing are a bit of a waste..... So i need the help, you are all one of the last resorts.... i had to sell the Skyline to move up here and i want to get back into one... so i need to beat this...... Help me Please.

Thanks Everyone, I wont forget those who help me

Justin

I can't refer you to anyone or anything. All i can say is hang in there. Once you get used to it, it's a really good job.

When i first got into sales, i hated having to call people, and try and convince them they need something.

Now i have no problem what so ever. Now i will even tell them what they need and how many.

And with cold calls i look at it this way. You call them and they say they don't need anything, o ryou don't call them and never find out.

Also presistence is the key. You may get rejected by the same person once a fortnight for 3 months. Eventually they are going to think "this guy calls me every fortnight no mater what, i'll give him a try"

no leads, sorry

keep at it

and stuff the cold calls, most annoying thing ever. if someone wants to buy something they will look for it. for someone to call me and say you need XYZ, get rooted, that pisses me off no end. and to ring a number of times like kralster has mentioned, man, Id be after your nuts.

Yeah but i'm not trying to sell you a new optus phone plan.

It's actually something that you need. I doubt Mr Sniper is ringing up Ford dealerships trying to sell them Holden seat covers or something.

And it's not a retail thing either. It's business propositions.

when at work i hate reps just rolling up it usaully means time of the tools and puts us behind scedule . we now get the reps to come around between 2.30 to 4.30 on a friday arvo .

works great when a couple roll up at the same time and ya play them off agaist each other my boss and i have bets b4 they arrive to see who gives us the deal of the week :-)

    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
