The irony in this is the fact that Nissan to a degree owe the importers in this country for the popularity of the gtr.

Remember last time they tried to market a gtr here. It fell on its arse and they couldnt shift the minscule amount they bought in.

The "grey" importers took up the cudgel and sold them by the shitload picking up a lot of new skyline devotees along the way. No doubt some of the buyers of the new gtr will come from these ranks.

Nissans way of repaying them is to stop them from importing the new car. Nothing has changed at Nissan. :action-smiley-069:

Performance is a relative term Baron. The hardy patrol is legendary in its performance capabilitys in its own environment, At least as much vaunted as the gtr is in its domain.

The Max also performs above its weight in terms of an extremely laid back comfy cruiser with all the fruit.

I have no experience with the z cars but i am sure old scathing will be along any time soon to take you task over that. :laughing-smiley-014:

if the price they sell here = the price you buy from japan + all the rest of the cost , then I guess it won't be so bad. But if they want to put $50,000 "dealer adjustment cost" as BMW puts it, then I'll shit in their show room.

We are more than promoters mate. More like the keepers of the flame. Without the enthusiasts and the importers Nissan would have to come from a long long way behind the eightball to get the acceptance of the gtr to where it already is.

They are not telling the whole story in that article. As usual a journalist speaks to a media trained representative from Nissan and believes that is the end of the story before actually researching the matter themselves.

Nissan are being very manipulative in what they say as to make people believe they have "closed the door" on grey imports but in fact they are deliberately leaving out half of the story.

It is a scare tactic used by Nissan to make it seem too risky to the average punter that they will think twice before even contacting someone to do it. The proof against Nissan's story will be seen before the end of this month.

Its the enthusiasts that pour more than $40,000 into their cars that has helped the GTR enjoy the status that it does.

Otherwise the GTR would be "that thing that got banned in the early 90's" instead of "the car that i just saw run a 10 at WSID" or"the car i just saw then on a dyno pulling 350awkw" or "the car that just beat me" etc

Something from nissan would go a LONG way for its aussie fan base (if they care about it at all)

As I've posted elsewhere in this forum, a fair price would be $110-115,000.

That's based on guesstimating the overseas pricing breakdown and understanding local taxation costs, which then imply that as low as $90,000 should be do-able (a la Canada).

Furthermore, grey imports (if possible) would come in around $120-125,000 (after paying full price in Japan!) and also arrive 12 months earlier than from Nissan Aus.

If Nissan can't sell you this car for a fair price and are unable to block the grey imports, then they cede control of the GTR brand to the importers. Please Nissan, use common sense! And hurry up, its not like Nissan Japan sprung this car on you by surprise!

fark here we go again. it's been on the bloody list for nearly 3 months. anyone with big enough balls and money behind it could have (has) imported their test car by now and is already getting their evidence together. there is more than one group in this boat right now.

Nissan don't like grey imports simply because they feel it's drawing potential new car buyers away from their market..They also don't give a flying - that we buy 2nd/3rd hand nissans because they gain no revenue from the sale, they also gain little revenue from parts because most of us (modified car owners) will always look for an improved aftermarket part over a genuine nissan part and rightly so..

In short they owe us nothing and probably consider us an enemy to their purely profit driven corporation. I'd expect nothing less than them to try and protect their new car/models markets, without doing it they simply wouldn't survive...then we all lose.

Maybe a 2-3 year lead time from new to eligible "grey" import would work for both sides.

Nissan owes the "enthusiast community" NOTHING.

You think they care that you own a modified version of their R32 GTR? No.

99% of the the enthusiast community can't afford an R35 GTR anyways.....so I can't see how we can claim that Nissan owes us anything...

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve. 
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
