i'd guess to them any kind of wheel spin would be considered as "hooning" "burnout" etc

having said that, i do think some cops are considerate at times.

once at the lights on a very wet day, on the tram tracks and right next to me at the lights was a marked cop car. i took off and rears starting spinning (not intended ofcourse) the cop just looked at me and drove off... on a different day/different copper and i woulda probably got done for it

you cant generalise on anything these days...

you bloody hoon rimon

^^ i was wandering that too if i launch at saw 3500rpm and dump the clutch but dont go over the speed limit.. is there any law i'd be breaking?

if you dumped the clutch at 3500rpm and didn't spin your wheels the cop would probably just laugh at your car :)

lol i didnt mean without wheelspin but can they get u for a bit of wheel spin on launch? its not like doing a burnout or nothing its RWD so its bound to happen..

Yes they can get you for spinning the wheels.

And its not bound to happen unless you don't know how to drive.

Just ring the EPA and report there car as a noisy/smokey vehcile.

Pretty sure they are not exempt from Environmental Laws.

Pity its illegal to make false reports :)

Anyhow as justin said in the wasteland, whats the point of this thread overall?

You shouldnt street race... so "race or not race" isnt even something to be considered...

Even if you dont wheel spin, if you are going flat out in each gear up to the speed limit, the change from first to second will most likely make your car wobble at the rear. And if the cops are trying to egt you, they will probably pick on you for that. There isnt much point to red-lining through first before having to slow down in second.

Damn, i hate the police even more now. I've only encountered few decent officer in my life and the rest just seemed to be arrogant assholes, carrying a head up the ass attitude.. Hate to generalize but can't avoid it at times, so its better to avoid them at all costs...

I bet they have a similar opinion of import drivers. It's a pity there are so many dick head import drivers out there, makes the rest of us look bad.

BTW is the Black tinit on the unmarked VE's legal?

Seriously I have seen people defected for the same!

Lawful exemption once their in uniform? :nyaanyaa:

Also about the launching from the lights crap, I wouldn't try it because the popo could still get you for "Engaging in a race or speed trial". Taken from http://www.dpc.vic.gov.au/domino/Web_Notes...33;OpenDocument

They also used to have something about "unnecessary exhibition of acceleration".

"Engaging in a race or speed trial".

LMAO. If they dont like you they have something they can get you with some way or another.

you weren't the blue 34 gtr with gold rims that was 'accelerating fast' against a black gallardo a few weeks back on blackburn road are you?

haha busted.... :laughing-smiley-014:

I would of revved too, then moved up a little closer then revved and revved some more....light's about to go green, reaaaady....take of at 2km an hour. Gold!

lol i do this to ppl in commonwhores who try to race

its funny

the unnecessary acceleration law states that it is up to OFFICER DISCRETION as to whether you were breaking said law... the same is for breaking traction... all you would need is the tiniest noise (which aint hard with FAT tyres )

also it is illegal to swear directly at an officer, or make an obscene guesture towards one... i'm sure a few of you will remember the debacle a few years ago when that guy stuck his finger up at a speed camera (when they were run by cops) and got snapped and niel mitchel (i think) paid the $1000 fine for him... then the cops kicked up a fuss but there was technically no law against "gifting" $1k and him paying the fine....

    • If they can dyno them, get them dyno'd, make sure they're not leaking, and if they look okay on the dyno and are performing relatively well, put them in the car.   If they're leaking oil etc, and you feel so inclined, open them up yourself and see what you can do to fix it. The main thing you're trying to do is replace the parts that perish, like seals. You're not attempting to change the valving. You might even be able to find somewhere that has the Tein parts/rebuild kit if you dig hard.
    • Can you also make sure the invoices on the box (And none exist in the boxes) are below our import duty limits... I jest, there's nothing I need to actually purchase and order in. (Unless you can find me a rear diff carrier, brand new, for stupidly cheap, that is for a Toyota Landcruiser, HZJ105R GXL, 2000 year model...)
    • Murphy strikes again! Nothing at all would have gone wrong if you had the tool kit in the car! You'd have just found the clamp loose the next time you went to touch it...
    • I have been being VERY quiet about what you're alluding to, as it is something that ticks me off... The number of cars from factory that run coil overs is HUGE! Most of them these days do... The other part that annoys me, is people saying "Well all the incabin adjustable suspension is illegal by blah blah blah"... If that's the case, then why can I buy a car brand new that can do it if, FULL STOP in cabin adjustable suspension is illegal...   Also, I could just chuck some aftermarket shocks in my car, throw the stock springs on, after my blue slip, dump my super low springs back in. Same shock and spring style setup... Hell, they could also be the same colour springs etc.     I'm voting, BlueSlipper didn't want to touch the above car for some reason. Whether it be some sort of bias against the car, the owner, them maybe having previously done dodgy shit and now they're being super careful in case they get slapped in the face by the Gumbyment again... Find a new blueslip place.   And can confirm as you had said, yes there are holy bibles of vehicle heights, and all sorts of other suspension stuff. Heck your run of the mill mechanic, and tyre shop has access to all of that stuff. It's how they do wheel alignments...
    • Funny story Heading to Sydney this morning on the HWY there was some slow traffic, so I gave it the beans and midway through my overtaking "power run" I lost all power It seems that I missed a hose clamp,  and the MAF and filter went WiFi To make this more problematic, the little tool kit that lives in the boot, is sitting in the sun room at Goulburn......LOL Luckily for me I found a bit of steel on the side of the road that could be used like a rusty and bent flat head screw driver to tighten it up enough that it got me into Sydney, it is now all tight like a tiger with the aid of a 8mm socket Note to self: Use my brain and double check stuff, and always keep that little tool kit in the car for when I have a brain fart
