spotted la3ar again,,ey mate in the morning your windshield wipers were up i parked next to u n put them down for ya =]

later on when i returned to the car i saw a integra with his up.

haha cheers man. The integra is a mate from class, he would've been the one that put them up. I put his up on the way out lol

yeah.. the pink stickers does stand out. thats what caught my attention haha. then i saw the CF bonnent. looks pretty mint.

Since when does Matt's car look in pristine condition? :)

Oi Matt, take it gearbox issues got sorted? :)

LOL, it was that time of year, it has had some TLC recently :)

Re Box, Yeah, all sorted, thanks, it was more time consuming getting all the rubber off the rear inner guards.

Spotted a grey R34 GT-T driving next to me on wellington road on the way to work. Cool having 2 34s next to each other in busy morning traffic.

Gave you the thumbs up you smiled and did the same, gotta love skyline drivers :-)

spotted a silver 35gtr a few streets off bell st in cobrug (wont say which one incase he lives there, as the house looks expensive so it could be hes home)

but yeh was parked on the side of the road and it stood out like dogs balls :P

but if i was the driver i certainly wouldnt be parking my car on the side road there ....or in coburg anyway :P

Spotted a multi-coloured R33 driving down Cheltenham Rd today (obviously random bodykit parts slapped on, waiting for a respray)

Had the Audi style LED strip under the headlights. Looked like space ship.

Also spotted a white N/A R33 Series 1 auto in Dandenong, Princes Hwy @ 9.15 this morning. Female driver. Very nice

Oh and your engine sounds like it is F*CKED! Good luck with that.

Does it have Custom pink plates by any chance?

I've seen one around Narre quite a few times with a female driver.

Car sounds like its in pain :)

Didn't notice the plates. Maybe.. I dunno.

The chick was brunette.

I've heard a lot of Skylines lately that sound literally "sick".

A certain friend of mine with a GTS-T absolutely thrashes it and it sounds fine. You have to wonder what people have done to their cars to f*ck the motor up so bad..

Just bad servicing i guess.

I got mine at 110,000kms, everything was running well and looking in good order (clean oil etc)

But me and my dad decided to check out the timing belt and everything once i got it home (bitch of a job getting to that)

And it turned out the belt hadnt been done at 100,000.

People are just lazy i guess.

    • Bit of a pity we don't have good images of the back/front of the PCB ~ that said, I found a YT vid of a teardown to replace dicky clock switches, and got enough of a glimpse to realize this PCB is the front-end to a connected to what I'll call PCBA, and as such this is all digital on this PCB..ergo, battery voltage probably doesn't make an appearance here ; that is, I'd expect them to do something on PCBA wrt power conditioning for the adjustment/display/switch PCB.... ....given what's transpired..ie; some permutation of 12vdc on a 5vdc with or without correct polarity...would explain why the zener said "no" and exploded. The transistor Q5 (M33) is likely to be a digital switching transistor...that is, package has builtin bias resistors to ensure it saturates as soon as base threshold voltage is reached (minimal rise/fall time)....and wrt the question 'what else could've fried?' ....well, I know there's an MCU on this board (display, I/O at a guess), and you hope they isolated it from this scenario...I got my crayons out, it looks a bit like this...   ...not a lot to see, or rather, everything you'd like to see disappears down a via to the other side...base drive for the transistor comes from somewhere else, what this transistor is switching is somewhere else...but the zener circuit is exclusive to all this ~ it's providing a set voltage (current limited by the 1K3 resistor R19)...and disappears somewhere else down the via I marked V out ; if the errant voltage 'jumped' the diode in the millisecond before it exploded, whatever that V out via feeds may have seen a spike... ....I'll just imagine that Q5 was switched off at the time, thus no damage should've been done....but whatever that zener feeds has to be checked... HTH
    • I think Fitmit had some, have a look on there (theyre Australian as well)
    • Hah, fair enough! But if you learn with this one you can drive any other OEM manual. No modern luxury features like auto rev-matching or hillstart assist to give you a false sense of confidence. And a heavy car with not that much torque so it stalls easily.
    • Actually, I'd say all three are the automatic option. Just the different trim levels. The manual would be RSFS, no?
