What's the lesson in all this?

East at the dinner table or in front of the TV. :/

Whilst there is no specific offence for "eating" the offence of "Not have proper control" can cover a whole range of actions while driving. Think of the crazy old lady driving down the road with a silky terrier hanging out the drivers window. There is one example.

I remember seeing on the news or a current affairs type program where some lady was pulled over and fined for brushing her hair.

Like has been mentioned it can come under negligent driving, careless driving, dangerous driving etc etc.

I'm sure everyone here has had the experience of leaning down fiddling with the radio and then glancing up through the windscreen again and shitting yourself and getting hard on the brakes as someone up ahead has slowed to turn or something.

To anyone who smokes out there, ever flicked one out the window and realised its come straight back in? The last place you were looking was out the windscreen........

If your doing anything but driving then you aren't concentrating on driving 100% obviously and as such are not in full control of the vehicle in the eyes of the law. Short and simple way of saying it is don't do anything that distract's you ( eating, talking, smsing etc) of course you can't control somethings (kid's fighting etc.)) and you will be fine. Even if you get pulled over don't be an idiot and go OMG uleh wtf I was like fully hungry for teh sanwhich.

I have to agree with everyone else, its illegal to do, I wouldn't consider it dangerous but that doesn't make it legal :/

Good point that you can smoke and drive...never seen anyone get fined for that!

rofl :/

What if you're kids are ripping each other's hair out in the back?

What if you're BUSTING to pee?

What if you've worked the night shift and have had 2 hours sleep in 48 hours and drive home?

You won't get fined for those but they distract you.

I think every one would agree it is better to pull some one over for going over the speed limit then eating a sandwich :/ Off topic I am a little fat. I dunno why but I go to Hungry Jacks and buy meals for myself, my dad, my 3 yr old sister. my girlfriend and my dad's girlfriend and they straight away go " Is that dine in today?"

Smoking while driving is certainly illegal, even passengers arent allowed to in NSW if there are kids in the car. Now thats a good law. Also not allowed to have opened alcohol in the passenger compartment, even if being consumed by a passenger.

it's can be argued as negligent driving. so yeah, it can be illegal to eat/drink/smoke/wank/scrath yourself whilst operating a motor vehicle. I would assume the application of negligent driving law is up to the officer.

Damn I eat all the time driving between Perth and teh farm... :P

btw would negligent driving include coping a BJ? Even if you still had two hands on the wheel?? :D:ninja::D

haha holy crap wish id known that earlier...

few weeks ago i finished work early and was driving to the shops while eating a sandwhich, pull up to lights and a cop pulls up next to me so i raise the sandwhich in a 'cheers' fashion and take off casually from the lights. Side note, im a P-plater in a Skyline.

Dam lucky or just awesome cops

haha thats mad 'cheers' with the sandwich to a cop haha.

Even if you get pulled over don't be an idiot and go OMG uleh wtf I was like fully hungry for teh sanwhich.

hahah this is funny too.

i can understand the cop warning her for eating while driving IF it was in heavy traffic in a built up area

and being female good chance she'd need two hands to turn corners.

if its illegal to smoke in the car why do they have ash trays and lighters. its still a factory extra. im on my p's and i have been through a RBT on windsor road near bella vista (sydney) with a smoke and they have said nothin to me

High beams are factory items yet it's still illegal to be driving with them on when you're not supposed to. ;)

damn.. there's been quite a few times in the past when I'm running late for work.. I've had a McMuffin in one hand, steering wheel in the other.. can still change the gears with the same hand I'm holding the mcmuffin lol.. its much easier to do on a freeway though..

I used to be really naughty in my first car which was auto.. mascara.. brush hair.. lipstick.. these days its too hard to do that in a manual lol. ;)

Yeah, in 06 when I used to actually work with my old man out bush (full time), first thing monday morning, I'd usually hung over as f*ck from the sunday sesh... I used to have an iced coffee in one hand, a toasted sanga in the other, with a chicko roll on the passenger seat (along with my 2nd iced coffee)... ;)

Luckily those were the days I had the auto VL crumbledore...

    • I certainly fall into the annoyed camp, but glad to hear that if it's happening at low boost then I'm not likely going to blow a turbo and end up with metal shards in my oil. Just feels like it prevents me from really driving it without hesitation and "peak" performance. Wonder if it's the VCAM, it did an impressive job of shifting the torque curve and faster spool, but maybe now it's "too fast" and there's too much air for how open the throttle is.  Based on some other threads, will also do some reading on synchronizing the actuators. They are the default actuators that come on the Garrett's and I would think they would be set the same coming from the factory, but if the turbos don't actually work exactly the same way at the same time as previously mentioned, it would be worth making sure the actuators are actuating together properly
    • I went down this rabbit hole before, ended up sourcing a motor from the UK (I'm in Japan) which also didn't function correctly. With the original motor, I disassembled it and reassembled it and it works somewhat, sometimes. What I could deduce from all my screwing around is that there is calibration of the gears on the inside of the motor and two ramps on the main gear which activate switches that operate the motor and move the sunroof either to retract into the roof or tilt. Where I got stuck was that, it seemed in my case that one or both of the switches that are activated by the ramp on the gear did not always activate and thus the motor did not move, causing it to sometimes not retract or tilt (apologies, I've forgotten which way it didn't work.).  Of course this part is discontinued at Nissan now, it's the same part in the S15 but no other models. I also contacted the manufacturer of the component for schematics - forgot the name, they're based in Gifu - but they declined to share the information due to being bound by an NDA, sadly. Looking through my pictures now, it seems I last had a crack at this in 2022. See, I so kindly wrote "open" and "close" next to the switches. If you figure it out, please do tell me. Those little switches, with the red buttons may need to be replaced.
    • It says 300ZX, does that make it an Aus delivered car? Funny how back in the day I just couldn't care less about Z32's and these days I am just in love with them. Back when Nissan was into pushing the envelope. 🤣
    • Hi guys, just after some guidance with an R34 sunroof that has stopped working correctly. It still opens and closes perfectly fine, but it no longer tilts/vents up or down. As a result, the rear of the glass now sags a bit as it drops down slightly in order to retract into the roof, but now it can't pop upwards into a flush position. I’ve probed the pins on the back of the switch connector with a multimeter and it seems like both switches (for open/close and tilt/vent) still work correctly. Any ideas on what it could be, or where I should even start in terms of diagnosing? I'm sure someone's had this issue before but I haven't been able to find anything online relating to this specific issue, most of the issues are with the seals leaking or the motor failing entirely. Thanks in advance!
