Who is your insurance company? I'll bet their Product Disclosure Statement has words like this:

"9. We will not cover any modification that is:

• not legal;

• not approved by the transport department in your state" (Shannon's)

"You are not covered under this policy:

• if at the time of the event, your vehicle was damaged, unsafe or unroadworthy." (GIO)

ttrue true true.........very likey that it has something along the lines of that......which i guess is why i made this thread.

because although they put it down on my policy, having a aftermarket turbo is illegal due to emissions.

and wen i told them i fully forged my engine with a new ecu turbo ect ect.

they said okai.....and dat was it.

so ill have to dig it up and have a look.

EBCs are illegal

Pods are illegal even if enclosed

Cars lowered to the floor are illegal

Exhaust louder than 90db are illegal

Im with Just Cars,i told them every mod i have on my car.I was unfortunate to crash my car into a fence.Assessor came out (who is a forum member so be careful what you post about your cars) and looked over the damage. As my car was up to par it was repaired.

He told me the amount of cars he sees that are not fully insured is mind blowing.Being careless or not telling the whole truth about what mods are in your car will be your undoing come claim time.

EDIT: Alot of the cars you see with 1000hp or more are either only insured fire and theft.Or not insured at all,if you have the coin to build a 1000hp car then you can afford a repair or two if something were to happen.

thanks for the tip, i did mention before. a insurence company refusing to cover your car because it was 10db over the legal noise limit of having a exhaust is a bit arguable due to it not being an influence into the crash. but thats only wat ive heard.

ive been totally upfront with my insurer....but just wondering wen the time comes....wats gonna happen.

will defiently have to give them a call again and aask

Dear jesus this guy is an idiot... reminds me of one of my mates...

Andru: Stop and think for a moment that maybe... JUST MAYBE... there are people here who's knowledge lies on more then just a god damned phone call to an insurance company...

Serious question: Do you idolise Alf on "home and away" because ive never heard anyone use the expression flamin mongrels apart from him lol.

Most other companies such as Famous, Young and cool and crap like that are a little dodgy from personal experence.

Famous & young and cool are the same company

Young & cool don't exist anymore. Famous used to be Famous classic car insurance and merged with young and cool. They are now called Famous. It's a Pity.. Famous were good until they merged with young and cool.

    • The incentives are mostly the same, yes. Ethanol is cheap compared to the cost of doing 98-100 RON with crude oil alone. 87 to 93-94 AKI all with E10. In 2020 Canada mandated E10 as a part of their "renewable fuel standard" and is supposedly going to go to E15 in 2030. In California where there are only 8 refineries with two threatening to shut down next year it's been over 20 years now of E10 and 91 AKI maximum because there's just not enough refinery capacity or crude oil supply relative to the demand for premium unleaded fuel. And CARB's low carbon fuel standard means functionally none of the diesel available at the pump is made from crude oil anymore. It's almost all entirely 20% biodiesel blended with 80% renewable diesel (hydrotreated vegetable oil) now. The number of gasoline vehicles that support E15 or higher ethanol concentrations is surprisingly low, I can't imagine it being wise to play tricks like this without flex fuel sensors in most of the fleet.
    • It's almost certainly the same as the one next to it. • South Australia, which is hardly as far behind as the rest pf Oz makes out, and who is also not a paragon of progressiveness (read that as over-legislation) in the area of vehicle standards, has this to say on the subject: Adjustable coil-over suspension Aftermarket adjustable coil-over suspension components are suspension units that incorporate an external thread on the main body and corresponding threaded spring saddle that allows the vehicle's suspension height to be varied. If fitting aftermarket or coil-over suspension components you must submit an Application to modify a light motor vehicle form and a report from a light vehicle engineering signatory (LVES).
    • Hi all, Long time since I've posted here. Looking for some advice on what I can remove to further identify the cause of my issues.  I can move the passenger seat forward and back but the knob used to adjust the seat angle is pretty much free spinning, there's very little resistance.  Removing the side cover I can see that the chain is intact but the shaft for the adjustment spins without the gear attached to it moving.  What's my next step for disassembly here? Is this a common fault? Just being a little cautious as I didn't want to start removing bolts for a spring to fly out or something equally as stupid.  Cheers
    • Those above shitboxes, mediocre and above usually have a turbo strapped to them, hence the slightly higher octane is required.
