Hey all, so we've all seen it done, but doesn't it just pi5s you off!? Police 'setting a bad example'.

They get away with it but do us over for doing much less or sometimes we get pulled over and done and we haven't even done anything. sometimes what they do is just plain wrong but they're cops so i guess that makes it right...?

Ok, i'll back it up with an example, in fact, i even have video footage this time!

My mate Jus and i thought it was strange that two cops in a marked sedan last night come up behind us on springvale road with no siren but lights, and couldn't get through waverley road intersection because all poll positions were full - so they turned their lights off, waited in the right turning lane for the right arrow, then when they had a clear lane (car in front turned right) they turned their lights back on and beat the traffic through....

we were behind them on springvale road, still no siren then they turned their lights off and kept cruising. We thought that was strange, so Jus turned on his camera phone to video it and the same thing happened at ferntree gully road t-intersection!

ok...so here's where it gets bad.

After they got through the intersection they turned into Coles and turned their lights off then went and found a park to go shopping! Geez it makes me furious!

Anyways, i also know of a cop, who told me a story in passing that when they want to pick up a pizza, so that it doesn't get cold they use their emergency lights to get it back to the cop shop while it's still hot.

Is that really an emergency? does it annoy anybody as much as it angers me!? Got any stories to share to upset my day even more??

The worst part about those situations is that people will often move out of the way to let police through as youre meant to. This often involves moving out into intersections or into different lanes which can be quite dangerous in some occasions. If they were really pushing through (sirens, lights) then it should of been reported. However, you dont know if there was an issue at coles either unless you stayed around to watch them come out or followed them in.

Each situation would be different, they may have been rushing to buy pain killers for another officer, who knows.

If they do abuse the pwoer then it is wrong though.

Good point DogKnight!

I didn't stick around an walk in after them, but did pull into car park and they parked in a normal spot and casually got out of their car. If it were a situation, then wouldn't they have parked next to the front door in the loading zone marked yellow? hmmm

anyways, still no replies in this topic about the pizza! damn emergency if you get a cold pizza, all pizza drivers should have these privledges haha

hi,

its illegal to follow any emergency vehicle

they may have been called to a situation, which was later withdrawn

I was doing 80 (speed limit) on Springvale, they must have been cruising at 100-ish and got away. At Waverley lights after they took off i was in poll and got the green i could see them in a distance...and caught up with them when they stopped at Ferntree Gully road at the red when it happened again. That's when Jus decided to get the video out cause it was strange, and Coles is immediately after Ferntree Gully on the left 2nd driveway so it wasn't hard to see them go in there. I took the 3rd driveway into Video Easy, my destination, and saw them park. Nothing illegal there.

I dont think we need another thread about Police do we?

I mean, if you think you have a legit complaint... lodge it with the Ombudsman and let that department sort it out.

This forum really isnt the place for this kinda thing as it doesnt achieve anything and threads like this just go off on long winded tangents before page 2

There's plenty of situations they could have been in where all of their actions are perfectly legitimate.

They might have been in a hurry to get to a job, but not in so much of a hurry that they need to race through red lights and push other cars out of the way.

Lights without sirens, nothing strange about that. The sirens are used to alert other drivers of their presence. If they're driving down the road with no obstruction, then they can turn off lights and sirens...Once they hit traffic they'll put the lights and/or sirens back on as they're needed.

We ALWAYS need these treads, go have a nap nancy boy :D

Reminds me of the drive back from Tamboon this year, I pulled up next to a car with it's lights on but no siren, the female in the passenger seat was a bit of a hottie so I wound down my window and asked since when do police stop at traffic lights with their own lights on....they were suitable embarrassed and switched them off

Just the other day i saw (well heard it first) a new VE commo, comin blitzin from one roundabout (took in the inside right, didnt go around) booted it thru a school zone, like, this thing was really strugglin for traction, past all the bus stops full of kids, then took the inside right on the next roundabout, and booted it again! He was easily doin 120k+, in an unmarked car, no lights, no sirens, at like 4 in the afternoon. The only reason i know it was a cop was i saw the blue shirt with shoulder patch. What would've happened if a kid stepped out?! UNbelievable, and seriously stupid!

Plenty of occupations have a blue shirt with a patch on the shoulder...and anyone can buy a CE commo...did it have a heap of aerials...anything else to identify it as a cop car...?

Yea, it had the aerials on the rear quarters, and the rear window, and i reckon i saw the light cluster on the dash, and in the rear window corners. I was standing on the footpath, so could see in the car pretty well, and it was a uniformed cop.

    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
    • You have a knack for photography my friend. It makes the 86 look like a complete bucket. The 34 went with you to Europe and back. It's special. (we all feel the same about our 'shitboxes' that every bystander seems to absolutely love)
