yeah. oil is nearly 120 a barrel! fuel will be high for a while. hedge your costs and throw some cash at oil search and woodside

the price differential of well positioned petrol stations to unfavourable ones is sometimes quite big too. tuesday is the day

bah should have a post up of for everyone which people see the cheapest petrol price for all areas so we all can get a cheap price which everyone can get to which would be closer to them, i rkn post up the cheapest u seen pplz and where the station is at.

Been paying $1.50+ for Ultimate for months... I drive a performance car, I dont winge about petrol prices.

But the 50%+ government exise(spelling, lol) + gst is always a good reason to hate the government of the day.

i dont mind paying for fuel, all you bums with no jobs might though

put it this way, do you buy water in bottles? well u pay $2.50 for a 600m bottle of water, and $1.60 for a whole letre of fuel.

and fuel is more fun that water :)

I was thinking the same thing, maybe we should post a "cheap petrol spotted thread". Anyway lucky our $$ is high against the US market

meh! i noticed the prices skyrocket just after i picked up my GTR!!!

ah well thats the price we pay for the performance we crave.

i usually try not to look at the prices, i just put fuel in the car when its getting low and thats about it.

Maybe the government shouldn't be taxing us about 51 cents for the petrol. If they lower it down to 20 cents of something, it'll be much better for motorists.

You can't blame the government, tax's haven’t risen as far as I'm aware.

Think about it this way. Oil supply has reached its estimated peak demand. What that means is as new hybrid/electric/hydrogen/bio fuels become more popular and more car manufactures start using it the less oil we'll require for motor vehicles. Sure we’ll still need it for plastic manufacturing, asphalt etc but the fuel companies realise we won’t need them so much and they are trying to squeeze EVERY last cent out of us while they can, it’s as simple as that, don’t let that supply/demands bull shit fool you.

Tax on petrol/oil whatever, isnt a set price its a % so of course the amount that the govt takes goes up... but it also goes down when petrol goes down etc. The % rate is rediculously high compared to other developed countries... but why would the govt cut one of their bigger cash cows?

Not sure why but petrol is a fair bit cheaper out here in geelong. Took the train to melbourne yesterday, it was 142 here yesterday and as you said 154ish in melbourne. Geelong wins. On a side note im paying about half the rent i did in melbourne last year for a place 3 times as big. Come join the partay.

well according to shell's own website, petrol at 154.8, the service station is making 16.8c/litre. further the TGP price is $1.38 for ULP. premium is 5c more than ULP. so why do the retailers charge us 10c more for 98 :)

and i thought US and AUS invaded Iraq to make the petrol prices cheaper.... its gone from under a $1/litre to now $1.548/litre. well atleast we are still lot cheaper then UK and Europe prices.

Our oil doesnt come from Iraq, most of it comes from the US and Mexico... then arabia i believe and yes... UK/EU prices are WAY worse then ours, hence so many Deisel cars

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
