ok here goes, mechanic added a thing that adds on to the air sensor (i think it is) when it was on we turned the car on and it obviously started, anyway when we revved it a bit the sensor wasnt sensing the air ratio and the car started to make blow off noises from the air filter and was occasionally blowing some air out of the BOV (thank god we didnt test drive it) anyway we turned the car off and disconnected it and put it all back to how it was before he touched it...

now the F*N thing wont start, it cranks but wont kick over at all, we even pushed it down a hill it wouldnt even jump start...

ok now heres my question, is there some sort of relay or fuse the car could have blown? is it the computer thats fried? any info i would appreciate, it only happened yesterday and shes only been in the driveway for a day and its sending me insane!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!

1) find a new mechanic

2) dont buy cheap ebay 15BHP hacks - they are all a load of shit

3) check the wiring in the engine bay, the hack would have been applied to the AFM signal wire, check it

the afm signal could be shorting out, unplug it, when its unplugged the RPM should cap out at 2500rpm but it should start and idle ok with the AFM unplugged

check the water temp sensor, if he was fidding with that and fried something the car wont start with a damaged water temp sensor, again just unplug and see if it starts

the water temp sensor is on the radiator pipe going towards the engine, theres two plugs, you can unplug both to test it easily

4) check all other fuses and sensors that you can see, fuses are in the engine bay, in the boot, and on the right side of the steering column

5) run stock ecu diag

6) take it to another work shop if all else fails

sometimes things are too good to be true aye.

did you give the thing for your mech to fit or did he suggest it? I know when my afm is unplugged the car would start once but after that it won't turn over no matter how many times. they say it should be able to turn over but idle low like paul said but for mine it wont turn over at all. Maybe you killed your afm?

my best guess- the 'chip tuning' company flash tuned the ECU memory chip to give more fuel into the mix, and now your plugs are massively fouled

change/clean the plugs, change back to standard ECU calibration, and get back to us....

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
