haha you never know until its too late eh?

The pad brand is hawk but I didn't catch the compound name - will find out and post up.

the rest is just crappy standard brembos with dba4000 nonslotted discs. and they worked perfectly all night despite how bad the photos look.

lol mines not built either remember. this is a poor old production car running 11psi :)

but it was funny some of the stuff that ended up behind me for the first lap (until they streaked past on the straight lol)

chop chop mr 6l space frame ;)

Great write up

Peeved that I could only stay an hour or so, as I had a whole list of things to do before flying off to Singapore the next day

Is this how you kept the black stuff in Jess's car when you stole her sump plug????? :);):D

lol luckily the sump plug as at home near by.

But history has shown that yiou shouldn't bring a gtr if you are coming to watch me race lol.

right richard? and the poor old stagea lost a few bits too.....most troubling is that caster rods are the same between stagea and 32 gtr....

HAHA Merlin cool pic!!

My engine has been out of the car for awhile so we had the sump plug laying around doing nothing :) It's now been put to good use..

We just turned up as you left would of been nice to finally meet you!! Next time perhaps ;)

Cant wait to see the adventures for EC this weekend with Neil!! :P

Cant wait to see the adventures for EC this weekend with Neil!! :)

Jess,,,16 degrees,,,windy and rain is the weather report,,,I have new tyres and brakes to bed in and can't see any of that happening.

Wets are already on the car.

I'm a little pissed off and nervous at the moment,,,E/C is my fav track and looks like I could be a spectator for most of the day.

Duncan,,,have you any idea how many people have seen that great pic of your brakes,,,One of my customers sent it to me for f**ksake.

I'm happy we have actually found a pad that can handle your abusive feet.

Everybody thats looked at that pic thinks theres something wrong with your brakes.,,,Only a couple of race heads thought it was close to normal.

We can improve them more,,,the thought doctor is in my head.

Neil.

Can't believe I missed this event, looks like so much fun. A couple of questions Duncan:

How many laps was each race?

How long between each race?

What time did it start/finish?

I'll head out for the EC round.

neil...that is damn funny. I was actually working on the brake ducts today....I'm sure only nissan was kind enough to put brake ducts on cars all the way 20 years ago :D

Ben...the day night meet is kind of unique - Qualifying + 5 races in 1 day, ran until 10.30pm. Normally it is qual and race 1 on sat, and 2 races on sunday and all over by 5pm.

Because it was oran park south they were long races - 12 and 15 laps. The sprint races are normally shorter, 8 to 12 laps about 20 min each (which is still long enough to work that hard). In addition we do 2 enduro rounds each year which are 2 sprint races and 1x 1hr enduro. Just enough fuel in the tank to run for 1 hour.

Well its didnt turn out like that at all, sun was shining and a bit of a cool breeze! :)

You car is soooooo cool!! I havent seen one up close before, "Go speedracer Go" :)

How did it go after we left Neil, Get those slicks hot?

lol, yes I've been pillaged before! all for the common good though. :)

hahah the lamps have had a work out lately, in fact both bulbs blew the other day which left me with the lead light. last night i got the oil gauge relocation/senders sorted and the wierd alternator problem. remaining to do is the new clutch line and slave (leaking), new brake lines, fix console, get tacho working, charge the dorian, fit the new shocks and springs, set the ride height, corner balance and wheel align (hahahah asif)

have you shared how you worked out the oil temp gauge problem mad scientist?

    • Ps i found the below forum and it seems to be the same scenario Im dealing with. Going to check my ECU coolant temp wire tomorrow    From NICOclub forum: s1 RB25det flooding at start up Thu Apr 11, 2013 7:23 am I am completely lost on this. Car ran perfectly fine when I parked it at the end of the year. I took the engine out and painted the engine bay, and put a fuel cell with an inline walbro 255 instead of the in tank unit I had last year. After reinstalling everything, the engine floods when the fuel pump primes. if i pull the fuel pump fuse it'll start, and as soon as I put the fuse back in it starts running ridiculously rich. I checked the tps voltage, and its fine. Cleaned the maf as it had some dust from sitting on a shelf all winter, fuel pressure is correct while running, but wont fire until there is less than 5psi in the lines. The fuel lines are run correctly. I have found a few threads with the same problem but no actual explanation of what fixed it, the threads just ended. Any help would be appreciated. I found the problem though. There was a break in one of the ecu coolant temp sensor wires. Once it was repaired it fired right up with no problems. I would have never thought a non working coolant temp sensor would have caused such an issue.
    • Hi sorry late reply I didnt get a chance to take any pics (my mechanics on the other side of the city) but the plugs were fouled from being too rich. I noticed the MAF wasn't genuine, so I replaced it with a genuine green label unit. I also swapped in a different ignitor, but the issue remains. I've narrowed it down a bit now: - If I unplug and reconnect the fuel lines and install fresh spark plugs, the car starts right up and runs perfectly. Took it around the block with no issues - As soon as I shut it off and try to restart, it won't start again - Fuel pressure while cranking is steady around 40 psi, injectors have good spray, return line is clear, and the FPR vacuum is working. It just seems like it's getting flooded after the first start I unplugged coolant sensors to see if its related to ECU flooding but that didnt make a difference. Im thinking its related to this because this issue only started happening after fixing coolant leaks and replacing the bottom part of the stock manifolds coolant pipe. My mechanic took off the inlet to get to get to do these repairs. My mechanics actually just an old mate who's retired now so ill be taking it to a different mechanic who i know has exp with RBs to see if they find anything. If you have any ideas please send em lll give it a try. Ive tried other things like swapping the injectors, fuel rail, different fuel pressure regs, different ignitor, spark plugs, comp test and MAF but the same issue persists.
    • My return flow is custom and puts the return behind the reo, instead of at the bottom. All my core is in the air flow, rather than losing some of it up behind the reo. I realise that the core really acts more as a spiky heatsink than as a constant rate heat exchanger, and that therefore size is important.... but mine fits everything I needed and wanted without having to cut anything, and that's worth something too. And there won't be a hot patch of core up behind the reo after every hit, releasing heat back into the intake air.
    • There is a really fun solution to this problem, buy a Haltech (or ECU of your choice) and put the MAF in the bin.  I'm assuming your going to want more power in future, so you'll need to get the ECU at some stage. I'd put the new MAF money towards the new ECU.
    • Any idea where I can get genuine MAF apart from used ones? I can't find any only for GTRs and unfortunately that price is not in my budget 🤣 I might gap my plugs down and put my splitfires in, they were only in for a year or so before I started the rebuild
