lol i dont wanna risk doing that ill find a way to fk it up then RACV will probably inspect it and say BS or something i dunno..

have you made sure that your allowed to pick your own repairer? some insurance companies have their own repairers and you have to go through them.

some retard reversed without looking into the side of my r33 and he's with AAMI. I have to take mine to their assessment centre and they will designate one of their own repairers to fix the car...

i was thinking of getting something extra outta it too, like gettin the whole body straightenend and buffed but they know what they are doin lol

pain in the ass man... lotta hassle but the guy was nice... paid the excess the same night...

Yeah i know i just picked up a quote anyway.. More then likely RACV will make me do that, i know theres one Mr. Gross or something right near there who are RACV preferred.. process would be alot smoother if they werent such titeasses and gave me a quick quote on my car without needing a claim number.. probably so they can raise the price i guess wouldve been different story if i went in saying i was the one paying for the repairs..

thats screwed. they're not your insurer, why should you have to do what they say?

yeh i tried arguing with the lady on the phone... but she kept saying 'thats our policy sir'

its only minor damage so i didnt really mind...

any decent panel beating shop can fix it so i let it go

plus this way i dont have to go around gettin quotes hehe

Just rock up, tell whoever answers that its costing "X", shove the quote at them.

Then tell em they have one week to come up with the cash and/or make a claim or you'll be back with a lawyer and a court appearance.

And tell them you'll report it to the cops too... they wont do anything but that sometimes jogs people :)

That'll scare em into action, if it doesnt then lawyer up i guess and send em a letter

your right about the cops not giving a fark, i spoke to them yesterday about making a report about this bitch that hit me in a car park. I had been told by legal aid to make a report. cops just told me to go to court, and they weren't gonna do anything ;)

had a similar issue when a truck hit the camry. he provided all his details but refused to make a claim. so basically we took the car into the panel beater, panel beater fixed the car and then they got their lawyer to issue a letter of demand to the truck driver. this is basically a legal way of saying "pay up cheapskate or i'll see you in court". you shouldn't need to hire a lawyer, your panel beater will be able to take care of it if they do insurance work. also it always helps if you report the crash to the police as soon as it happens.

does this really work!? might save me from going to court and getting my own lawyer! i'll have to speak to my panel guy about this. Would certainly save me a few hassles....

legal aid they are a free firm aint they? can goto them, used to be able to make some cash in pocket long time ago by some one smashing you in the back lol these days you cant lolz

They cant make you get your car repaired at an RACV repairer if its not your insurance policy.

You didnt sign a contract with them. They owe you damages, they need to pay you or your repairer for the damages and you can do whatever you like, wherever you like. If they ask for a comparison quote from an RACV approved place thats fine, if you want to be accommodating go and get one, but you dont have to get it fixed there, thats ridiculous.

If you don't get anywhere on the phone, either hang up and ring back so you speak to someone else, or ask to speak to a manager.

Anyway I got rear ended once but it wasnt much damage.. $300ish.. I was insured with RACV at the time and so was the guy at fault.. an RACV approved repairer did the quote and they told me if I didn't want to get it fixed, I didnt have to. They sent the repairer the cheque and he signed it over to me... SWEET!! - $300

First car - carefactor = zero lol.

Legal aid is only for people who are unemployed or on a low income.. it's income tested blah blah, so yeah fat lot of help there :P

Where did u go and who did u speak to? I want the cash lol :D

i hope when you took it for a quote, you said you wanted the whole rear of the car resprayed, ... painting just one panel isnt good enough, you want them to blend down the side of the car and ... thats a good 1/3 of the car resprayed :D .... then just fork out for the other 2/3 to be sprayed... theres your full respray haha

They said that its up to the insurance assessors when they come have a look.. My local panel beater quote was $852 and took it to Vu at DT Panels yesturday who gave me a quote of $704.. Faxed them today so we'll see how we go :D Ill write down exactly whats being done when i get the quote back my dads got it with him

Anywhoo seem's like it'll all work out :bunny: Except gay i wanted the cash instead of the repair's to put towards my respray!

If your quote was $850 and you just wanted the cash, you should have just said to her - give me $600 cash and we'll call it even.

Done :D

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
