What you do to any motor to make it more responsive works on all of them, it just the power level that changes with capacity, so what you do to a 2.6 will work the same for a 3.2, you will just make more power with a 3.2 then a 2.6 with the same response EDIT: except for turbos obviously

And response is relative to power level so if you want to make your 2.6 responsive give us an idea of power wanted and we can try and guide you to make it as responsive as possible, but for the sake of this discussion you CAN NOT beat a stock turbo stock cam 2.6 with the right breathing mods and dialed in cams and properly tuned if response is what you are after

This has been discussed and is quiet well known what works and what doesn't but if your that worried about running away with threads then this shouldn't have been started in the first place and the OP should have looked at the 2.6 dyno thread for his answer

But you will never ever get stock turbos to push 400kw at the wheels, but a 6262 on a 3.2 will do 400kws at the wheel with the same response as a stock turbo stock cam 2.6

If have a question or an idea for someone that has asked a question then by all means post if not stop spreading the hate and go look at one of the other zillion thread on this forum

Peter, yeah mate cruising around its really nice, just the fuel pump is killing my life ATM, like I said boost is throttle dependent and at 110 car sits around 2600 rpm and at light throttle it sits around 2-4psi positive pressure, I'm on full E85 tune though and havent done any economy runs yet, still loving the way it comes onto boost HARD :D

Maybe this thread should be renamed then because it is titled refers to a 2600cc motor not other capacities.

So this has gone way off topic as others have stated. If the op has decided to go a 26/30 Then fine start another thread.

And for all its worth, without him experiencing proper responsive setups in a 26 then the advice given is poor to say the least as he has no reference to how good a responsive 26 setup is. Especially as a daily.

HI Mick, thats what is all about, enjoying your ride, not worrying about someone else's car or what they are doing with it or what fn thread you are on, help them if you can, try to change their mind if what they are doing is really dumb. but at the end of the day, I have NEVER had a car I hated, I have pushed and sworn at them but as soon as they stared I am in love again:)

I am sure I should not be on this site as I know nothing about your love for the RB26, as far as I am concerned I have a R34GTR and want it to do what I want , the same as your wife,I have been married 3 times so you can work out how that works, haha

All you blokes that have helped me by stopping doing something or getting me to do something else, THANKS

I think my attitude is not a SAU club one, and I have nothing to offer anyone, but I have enjoyed you company

Enjoy your ride and F the rest

Have you ?, what does it matter, he knows his car and he knows what more he wants from it

That's how I am, if someone asks a question I help if I can from what I have experienced over the years no matter what thread it's in in stead of giving them shit for posting in a thread that isn't exactly what was asked to start with causing ill feeling towards other forum users and making them wonder why they came here in the first place

Hi XGTRX I totally agree with you and I will rectify that by getting a run in a standard R34GTR, not to do it was dumb as I am sure with the standard twin setup they would be very nice to drive BUT that did not happen and here I am :/

I am sure that a standard R34GTR would not be a pig to drive as the car I bought, it was 337.8awkw and the worst car I have sat my ass in to drive, brake your neck at 6k to 10k , but very noisy at the lights trying to beat a golf cart across the road

From what has been said they are not a responsive car without revs as most small motors.. BUT did the standard RB26 have to be modified to be a reasonable street car, shit is is old tech but at the time, great tech and I do not mean just speed, they had everything and the best car I watched kicking V8s asses:)

But now I am here I will make the best of it, I use mods made for the Rs to get the response I want and this should not hurt anyone else, I am not modifying their car and when they get the cobwebs off for a drive I hope they enjoy it, I get mine spinning every day just to get off the heart machine :)

Well it is important isn't it or he won't know what it is like. He might be quite happy with what he is considering but he won't know what a responsive 26 setup is like will he.... It's called an informed decision not a decision based on someone else's preference. That's my point.

I am just concerned that he will not be making the best choice unless he knows what the different choices are and experiences them first hand. Sorry if this is too logical before you spend $30k+.

XGTRX. "Response and 2.6" don't go hand in hand. They're buckets of shit and those cranks should be used as road base. The quicker you understand this, the better for everyone in the GTR community.

Interesting. I suppose that's why people in the GTR community keep building them to this day. You must remember what it's like to have a fast, reliable, daily driver....remember before the stroker kit went in.

We don't have to, we have more then one car :P

We do however know what insane power feels like and with unbelievable response cause welovefastcars :D

What's logic got to do with building GTRs

Yeah so you should be the last person advising someone on a daily.

There's a reason strokers are so popular, cause they're so good

No doubt, no argument here.

The 26 is more than capable though.

Proper twin setup and they are a very enjoyable responsive streetable combination. So my point is before a newbie makes a decision to go stroker he should experience a few 26 setups. That's all. You don't need a stroker to enjoy driving a GTR, I don't care what the stroker fanboys say. Suppose someone should experience both before making a decision with all other things considered, especially reliabilty.

Yeah so you should be the last person advising someone on a daily.

Why's that, I drive both mine on when ever I like and both would be perfectly fine doing daily duties and the 32 did so for many years, but cause I can afford more then one car I shouldn't give advise cause it makes me some dumb fark hanging around forum yeah

And I do all the machanical work my self and I chose what parts I use, the only thing I don't do is tune, when ya have someone like Scott why would I want to learn to

Oh and hello SteveO

But he has already spent money on having the single turbo changed and tuned and still isn't happy with it, so his next option is to look at the engine capacity.

Personally I wouldn't be changing the turbo charger at the same time, I would just do the stroker and see how it drives after that

That didn't take long. Did it. Egomaniac that's all you are. The type of guy that shows publicly how much of moron you really are. I choose to drive my 33 everyday. My other cars I choose not to. And your 32 was a 26. That confirms what I have been saying... Thanks for that

... Oh and I remember in past your 30 was going to be daily driven.. obviously not.

The last I remember, I can hang around, it's a public forum. I have the same entitlements as anyone else including you.

    • I had 3 counts over the last couple of weeks once where i got stranded at a jdm paint yard booking in some work. 2nd time was moving the car into the drive way for the inspection and the 3rd was during the inspection for the co2 leak test. Fix: 1st, car off for a hour and half disconnected battery 10mins 4th try car started 2nd, 5th try started 3rd, countless time starting disconnected battery dude was under the hood listening to the starting sequence fuel pump ect.
    • This. As for your options - I suggest remote mounting the Nissan sensor further away on a length of steel tube. That tube to have a loop in it to handle vibration, etc etc. You will need to either put a tee and a bleed fitting near the sensor, or crack the fitting at the sensor to bleed it full of oil when you first set it up, otherwise you won't get the line filled. But this is a small problem. Just needs enough access to get it done.
    • The time is always correct. Only the date is wrong. It currently thinks it is January 19. Tomorrow it will say it is January 20. The date and time are ( should be ! ) retrieved from the GPS navigation system.
    • Buy yourself a set of easy outs. See if they will get a good bite in and unthread it.   Very very lucky the whole sender didn't let go while on the track and cost you a motor!
    • Well GTSBoy, prepare yourself further. I did a track day with 1/2 a day prep on Friday, inpromptu. The good news is that I got home, and didn't drive the car into a wall. Everything seemed mostly okay. The car was even a little faster than it was last time. I also got to get some good datalog data too. I also noticed a tiny bit of knock which was (luckily?) recorded. All I know is the knock sensors got recalibrated.... and are notorious for false knock. So I don't know if they are too sensitive, not sensitive enough... or some other third option. But I reduced timing anyway. It wasn't every pull through the session either. Think along the lines of -1 degree of timing for say, three instances while at the top of 4th in a 20 minute all-hot-lap session. Unfortunately at the end of session 2... I noticed a little oil. I borrowed some jack stands and a jack and took a look under there, but as is often the case, messing around with it kinda half cleaned it up, it was not conclusive where it was coming from. I decided to give it another go and see how it was. The amount of oil was maybe one/two small drops. I did another 20 minute session and car went well, and I was just starting to get into it and not be terrified of driving on track. I pulled over and checked in the pits and saw this: This is where I called it, packed up and went home as I live ~20 min from the track with a VERY VERY CLOSE EYE on Oil Pressure on the way home. The volume wasn't much but you never know. I checked it today when I had my own space/tools/time to find out what was going on, wanted to clean it up, run the car and see if any of the fittings from around the oil filter were causing it. I have like.. 5 fittings there, so I suspected one was (hopefully?) the culprit. It became immediately apparent as soon as I looked around more closely. 795d266d-a034-4b8c-89c9-d83860f5d00a.mp4       This is the R34 GTT oil sender connected via an adapter to an oil cooler block I have installed which runs AN lines to my cooler (and back). There's also an oil temp sensor on top.  Just after that video, I attempted to unthread the sensor to see if it's loose/worn and it disintegrated in my hand. So yes. I am glad I noticed that oil because it would appear that complete and utter catastrophic engine failure was about 1 second of engine runtime away. I did try to drill the fitting out, and only succeeded in drilling the middle hole much larger and now there's a... smooth hole in there with what looks like a damn sleeve still incredibly tight in there. Not really sure how to proceed from here. My options: 1) Find someone who can remove the stuck fitting, and use a steel adapter so it won't fatigue? (Female BSPT for the R34 sender to 1/8NPT male - HARD to find). IF it isn't possible to remove - Buy a new block ($320) and have someone tap a new 1/8NPT in the top of it ($????) and hope the steel adapter works better. 2) Buy a new block and give up on the OEM pressure sender for the dash entirely, and use the supplied 1/8 NPT for the oil temp sender. Having the oil pressure read 0 in the dash with the warning lamp will give me a lot of anxiety driving around. I do have the actual GM sensor/sender working, but it needs OBD2 as a gauge. If I'm datalogging I don't actually have a readout of what the gauge is currently displaying. 3) Other? Find a new location for the OEM sender? Though I don't know of anywhere that will work. I also don't know if a steel adapter is actually functionally smart here. It's clearly leveraged itself through vibration of the motor and snapped in half. This doesn't seem like a setup a smart person would replicate given the weight of the OEM sender. Still pretty happy being lucky for once and seeing this at the absolute last moment before bye bye motor in a big way, even if an adapter is apparently 6 weeks+ delivery and I have no way to free the current stuck/potentially destroyed threads in the current oil block.
