It's kinda a rolling twelve months. We'll get there eventually. I'm now living in Melbourne so the car is down with me in the workshop. Between here and April it won't get touched as I've got to get the other car ready for Targa, but after that I'm pretty keen to get moving on it. Lot's of weekends and late nights ahead of me.

haha stable....that's exactly what i need to store all the cars

lol michael as if you don't have 2 projects on the go yourself :P when is that race car going to be back on the track btw, was a shame not to see it at the national sprints at morgan park last month

damo, honestly can't remember. but they are a cheap forged one, originally bronze but we had Craved powercoat them white. they look excellent, hopefully they will be strong enough.....

BTW this bloody car better be seconds quicker than the production car. otherwise I'll burn the f**ker to the ground.

That is true mate. But im always doing or trying to do something crazy and overly time consuming.

Good news the race car is finally running. Needs to get tuned to suit E85 now and then its time to actually get back on the track. Stupid cars, you fix one problem, then another problem thats never been an issue pops up. Fingers crossed there are no more! The rings appear to be sealing perfectly now since I assembled this motor dry. No oil vapours out the exhaust and nothing out of the dry sump tank breather. :D Just as it should be!

Dont burn it to the ground if thats the case...just swing it my way! :) :) :)

hey good perserverance!

what happened is that the car was about 70% complete, when Mark had to move to melbourne for work. I had no space for the car so it moved with him, and I don't think he has got back into it.

I still think it would make a great track car, and when I need a second project again and the garage is ready, I may bring it back up here and finish it off. It really owes us bugger all and should be reasonably quick and fun.

It will never go to a $uperlap though, that event has come way too far and I'm not interested in spending $200k for 10 laps and finishing in 70th place....there are lots better places for club style competitions

haha I'm sure it's not the only build thread on long term hold.

It is still down in melbourne gathering dust, and I would still like to finish it one day. First I have to do the ute, get the March aback, get my race card running, and then buy Brad's truck and go and recover this car from Melbourne. So, I guess not this year :)

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
