so heres the problem, no matter how much i adjust my mirrors theres always a nasty blind spot at the left rear window of the stagea, ive been suprised when i do a headcheck to find a small car totally out of view of my mirrors and only just in view of my eyesight. so has anyone had any luck with those extra stick on rear view mirrors or are there any kind of replacements for the standard side mirrors, or has anyone seen those large panoramic rear view mirrors before?

Well I do find it a pain in the arse, i cant get rid of it either, my windows are black so i cant see anything i just have to rock forward to sweep the mirror, My old panel van was worse. Black windows and no side mirrors. to change lanes i would check the car next to me , floor it and wait to see it in the rear vision then go.

LOL

alll the better to chop you in teh pulsar fury, my dear :)

sif want a pulsar..dont think i could ever downgrade to a 4cyl again.. not enough grunt :D

I hear the middle finger is a great add-in for blind spots.. and the bollocks to back it up if you have to get out of your car for a bit of ol road-rage biffin.

rofl.

well, if any stagea's have the balls to enter SAUWA's timed track day, I will even be able to tell you how much they get chopped by a "gutless" 4 cyl ;)

only bad thing about teh stag, is reversing out of my father in laws drive way, at night.

no street lights + stag tint = guessing where the f**k i am going.

or i could just reverse up his drive way, but thats inconvenient for me.

do you have the flat mirror or the convex mirror on your LHS ? Mine was changed to a flat mirror at compliance, Frack knows why, couldnt see anything, changed it back with a new original convex one from Nissan, blind spot gone, thinking about changing the RHS one too.

yep, both wing mirrors are flat

i found a stick on curved mirror at supercheap today which i could stick on the mirror, but its not as big as it could be

i have seen pics of stageas with what look to be aftermarket mirrors, i was wondering if there were bigger ones around

Speaking of pulsars I actually find less blind spots in my Stagea than my N13 Pulsar. But I've always hated hatch backs, there is always no vision between the hatch and the rear quater windows. And on an N13 thats quite a lot of space you can't see :D I actually find I see more out of the Stagea because of all the glass in the back, but I was also a courier driver for a couple of years and got used to having no vision out back or sides when carrying full loads etc...

But like someone else said all cars have blind spots, ever driven the last model Ford Focus. My mates girlfriend has one and man they might have not even bothered with the pathetic piece of rear glass they put in those, and another mate has a brand new Mondeo XR5 and they have more blind spots than I could count on 2 hands ;)

just get the real one from Nissan

I adjust the LHS mirror so that I can see a car in the blind spot. I don't need to see a car in the left hand lane that is 2 car lengths behind me, I only need to see the one that I would hit if I changed lanes. Plus I also adjust the internal mirror so it is biased to the left. I don't need to see the RHS out of the internal mirror, the RHS outside mirror does that for me. So many cars I get into give 3 views of the same car, one in the RHS outside mirror one in the internal mirror and one in the LHS outside mirror. I don't need to see it 3 times to know that it's there. Each mirror does it's own job, very little overlap is required.

Try it, it works

Cheers

Gary

ill take that pic down to nissan, though the last time i went down there, when i said stagea they had no idea what i was talking about. which is fair enough i guess. can i expect to be royally bent over on the price of this part?

Here are the part #s

The first 3 down the list are without heaters and last one is with heater (for cold area cars). For S1s looks like you should use the alternate part # in the middle column.

Yeah had to get the round stick-on blindspot mirrors, they helped a lot. But so many curves all over the place, I dunno, for some reason I find it much harder to see out of the stag' than the old bluebird (which was styled very "box"). I'll get used to it though I suppose.

I can't see how you could drive along only checking your mirrors and not physically looking. Thats just crazy and lazy.

Most people sit in my blind spot and I'd probably have killed a few motorcyclists if I didn't check.

It's also good practice to be aware of other car's blind spots and not sit in them for fear of similar lazy drivers like yourself :)

well i hope thats not directed at me because thats a lot of assumption and plain misreading going on. if for some reason you believe i dont bother to headcheck then re-read

having blind spots on the car at all is a concern to me and the comment in another post that all cars have them isnt true. i also drive a 2008 impreza and while it has a tiny rear view, a combination of it and the excellent wing mirrors give it a large unbroken field of view out the back

in heavy traffic where i may be need to be monitoring 360 degrees, but keeping my head up and foward, being aware of what is around you but looking where you are going *in front of the the car* is the most important area to place your attention.

and btw, i AM a motorcyclist. i can guarantee you i am very aware of other drivers. i was before i even got on bikes

in an car with full vision i would never hit anyone around the car because i would know they were there in the first place, then headcheck to make sure they were not moving

back to the original point im trying to track down those panoramic rear view mirrors in the stores but i cant seem to find them, has anyone come across them?

Surely you can get the cheapo sticky convex mini-mirrors in any parts place, right? Or did you want the full mirror like Chook mentioned?

On the subject of being aware of the blind spots of other cars, I totally agree with Kylie that it's something that every driver should know. Another thing I don't understand is how some people you see on the road can be stupid enough to drive directly beside a semi-trailer or truck, REGARDLESS of which side of that truck they are on. Trucks have potentially the biggest blind spots of all, so it makes you wonder, should a truck and car collide, whether the car driver would try and blame the truck driver for causing the accident...

    • For these last 7 years of ownership, I've always had to use a small scissor jack under one of the front tow hooks to raise the front just enough so my low-profile jack fits under to reach my subframe jack point. I'm beginning to get annoyed of always having to do this. Are there any lower low-profile jacks that fit under the gtr lip on a dropped car?
    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
