If using Sougi brands me as a group wanker, then so be it. More for me, and less for you when it comes down to it. I stocked up on S6000 for $55 a bottle. I'm more than open to trying any other Group V ester based fully synthetic 10w40 oil for $55 per 5L, but we all know none exists. Not even Motul 8100 was ester based.

For the tools slamming Sougi and rating up Motul, if you'd read the posts for well over a year now if you'd bothered to go back in this thread, you'd see that all of the Sougi fans rate Motul just as highly as well. No one is putting down Motul, rather saying Sougi S6000 is as good as Motul 300V, which would make it better than 4100 and at least on par with 8100. The M5000 is easily as good as the 4100 but more in line just under Motul 8100.

Sougi has it fans, not just on this board, but on many other car forums as well. It was a great oil, possibly one of the greatest if you factor in price. Now that it's no longer in production, the search has been on for the best alternative. Motul 8100 10w40 X-max comes to mind, but so does Sougi M5000 which still is available in places, plus the Syn-X which seems to be almost the same as M5000.

If you're going to have a go at people for using Sougi, get informed beforehand otherwise you come off as a right idiot. Because no one using Sougi has had a crack or put down folks for using Motul.

Royal purple is all I put in my performance cars...

But Castrol 0W40 goes in the GTR cause the previous owner lived off it and gave me 2 5L bottles I still haven't used.. So why waste?

Just put Castrol 10W40 (semi synth? didn't even look) in the daily AU, not that I'll notice any difference... (Was contemplating repco brand @ $28 but thought ah, just put something branded in at a cost of $8 more..)

Maybe if said in person, but saying people are having a wank on a forum comes out as calling someone a wanker. The reality is, it's going to come across as the same thing. And what for? Because people are talking enthusiastically about a product which you neither have used or know anything about. Better to say nothing, or learn about it rather than put people down because they endorse it. You don't know the level of peoples experiences with using Sougi. Many have used all forms of oils, from RP, Motul, Redline to all the retail oils and Sougi. Thus there is some knowledge there when it comes to talking about this oil.

My bad, that wasn't my intention.

Yes it's technically impossible to buy in shops unless the shop still has some in stock. GW stopped making it, so it may not be an oil you want to "switch to", but if you want to give it a shot, I can get you it for $65 a bottle. Only a few bottles left that I'm willing to sell off...the rest I'm stashing. Buy up on the M5000 though, it's just as good

and nearly half the price :)

For a previous poster = not trolling ok.

Birds - don't worry mate, I'l get some AMSOIL 10W-40 instead.

Lol read up man, it was 'the' oil to use until sougi came along, I would say it is now one of the best value ones, it is even in the opening post of this thread!

lol just read up man its new 10-40 xcess not 5-40 and it was just out not long ago so how could be in the opening of the thread

the 5w-40 is the old one and it is in the opening post as its been available for years, I thought this is what people were talking about

the 10w-40 is a group iv/iii mix I think and not a group iv oil like the 5w-40 I believe, is it called turbo light or 7100? or is it another version of xcess as I cant see it listed on their site.

i got it wrong in my prior post and mixed them up

Pretty sure the new one is Motul 8100 X-Max 10W40?

that one is listed as a 5w30 according to their site

http://www.motul.com.my/eng/product_line_up/4stroke/4stroke12.html

I am fairly sure I have actually seen the 10w40 oil as well, just not sure what it was called

Yeah, last time i checked their site it wasn't listed either.

Found a link to it on an eBay seller. There's so little information about it, it's fairly new. I did see it at Autobarn when I was there last, however:

There is an auto place in marion shopping centre here in Adelaide that used to sell it for $59.95, I haven't bought any in about a year but I can find out if it is still that price, cubes was the one who told me about it, he might remember the name.

noticed super cheap has some valvoline engine armour 10w40 of sale cheap

any thoughts on this? I gotta service my rb25de neo ... the oil is over 20k old :( :( :(

thinking of running this stuff for 2000k to try and clean some of the crap out

how cheap? the gw stuff that supercheap stocks has decent detergents in it and will be about as good as the valvoline stuff but only $26

Motul's 8100 10w40 Xmax is quite new. It's only been in stores for the past few months or so. As to what grade it is, it won't be any less than 5w40 Xcess. Which would make it a group IV oil. Maybe on those super special days, you'll get this at $60, but it'll normally be around the $80 mark.

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
    • I haven’t yet cut the chassis, maybe I switch to a reverse flow. I’ve got the Intercooler mounted as I already had it but not cut yet. Might have to speak to an engineer
    • Yes that’s another issue, I always have a front mount, plus will be turbo plus intake will big hasstle. I’ve been told if it looks stock they’re fine with it by a couple others who have done it ahahaha.    I know @Kinkstaah said the stock gtt airbox is limiting but I might just have to do that to avoid a defect so it atleast looks legit. Or an enclosed pod so it’s hidden away and feed air from the snorkel and below Intercooler holes like kinstaah mentioned. Hmm what to do
