missusR34GT
NO.. NO... NO! Edit: Sorry that's not very helpful of me.. in all honesty you should get yourself a shitter and perhaps get a skyline but as a weekend car.. if you were to put gas in your skyline you could do some real damage.. missusR34GT
thanks for that lol . uhm what engine damage can it do. seen all other engines can take it . whats so different to a skylines engine I apologise .. let me rephrase.. it'll make the car run like crap and you don't want to do that just to save on petrol money.. You can have it retuned to run on 91 ron but that depends if you have an after market ECU.. because I don't think stock ECU's can be retuned.. you'll have to look that one up.. lol.. 342Four
its been done theres a yellow hilux with a rb20det in perth running gas still turns out about 220ish rwkw.... one thing you have to remember is that gas does not lubricate, so an upper cylinder lubricant is needed every now and then to keep all bits good Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/225508-skyline-on-gas/#findComment-3974149 Share on other sites

jukic.j
Without a whole lot of knowledge in this area I would say get a shit car and keep the skyline on petrol. it just ruins the car. it's like getting a bentley and painting flowers on it in my opinion. you buy a bentley for the status of it. I feel that putting a skyline on gas just takes something away from it. there should be no compromise with a skyline. funkymonkey
i've been in an R31 that ran straight gas with a sprinkling of nitrous. ran better and faster than my petrol based R32 GTSt at the time. Gas Research in Hallam VIC (I think that's where they are) do conversions. Prices for ye olde RB30E start at $1115. They can do the DOHC engines too. They do dual fuel and straight, although its probably healthier to run straight as you don't have different mixtures n stuff to worry about. Keep in mind there is a govt rebate on conversion too in some states. http://www.gasresearch.com.au Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/225508-skyline-on-gas/#findComment-3975030 Share on other sites
s2k12
if you go carbied it will loose power if its duel fueled. if its injected you will not loose any power at all. Depends. If it's liquid phase injection, you wont lose any power, but if it's the other type of injection which I can't think of the correct name of due to my drunkness, you will lose some negligable power. In my opinion, liquid injected LPG is better than petrol. Whel the company that I aslso can't remember the name of comes out with their liquid phase injection kit which is estimated to be $2,500, I'll get one. but that's 4 - 6 months away. I'll fill in the blanks in the above post when I'm sober. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/225508-skyline-on-gas/#findComment-3975037 Share on other sites

iseekool
My personal opinion, if you are not doing high Ks, stick with petrol. (Technologies and power figures aside) Gas conversion will cost a few grand and don't forget LPG systems also need extra maintenance. It will take you a long time to recover your investment in an LPG system, even if you keep filling your car with 98 premium unleaded. Besides the non-turbo RB 25 engine is fairly economical engine to begin with.
