As nice as the V36 is, it absolutely sh!ts me to tears that Nissan is like 3 years behind everyone else when it comes to interiors. Take our V35 for example, and the V36 is not much better.

Sorry, it's much better than the V35, but way behind what others are doing in 2008/09.

the v36 does have a better interior than the v35. i agree, nissan is terrible when it comes to design and materials used for the interior. i'm not totally sold on the v36 exterior. maybe it's one of those that will grow on you. the rear spoiler looks bad....

I think it looks pretty hot other than that spoiler. The back is a bit rounder than I expected from the press photos I'd seen.

I reckon the V36 sedan looks better than the coupe from the back.

There's a V36 already sitting in the IMG's garage in Auburn, getting complianced, will be ready by xmas.

To be honest, it's twice the car that V35 is, a lot more powerful engine, updated interior: more functional and ergonomical. but asking price is ~$60k... Probably won't spend that much on an import that has no warranty no after sales support, and most importantly half the stuff in the car is in jap, probably won't work here in Australia.

Do u know how much they will be charging for compliance ? at 60 grand is still while worth it i reckon.

just pulled out my Skyline Catalogue-

Looks like the black one is the Type S model which is the 2nd most expensive varient. 4 variations in specs.

370GT to 370GT Type P to 370GT Type S to the 370GT Type SP.

SP price is 4,473,000Yen.

4,473,000.00 JPY = 43,836.31 AUD

Japan Yen Australia Dollars

1 JPY = 0.00980020 AUD 1 AUD = 102.039 JPY

This car has a shite load more features compared to the V35.

The wing has the reverse camera in it.

Also has what I saw in the Lexus GS430- the distance sensor while driving. The car will auto adjust speed and distance from the car infront, whilist in cruise control.

Start button

Plus more I CBF writing about at this time of the morning. :(

no idea on the compliance cost, but these guys do imports n compliance themselves... I dont know how similar V35 and V36's engine is, r the parts interchangable? as for the cost... i dont think i'll spend $60k on a car with no warranty, aftermarket support or parts readily available. plus the big big downside is, the main feature: the car's computer console is all in jap... so its pretty much useless as the one on V35s.

Can't wait!! Although not a big fan of the hideous spoiler.. reminds me of the ugliest coupe ever known to man (the chrysler crossfire) but I guess all the new toys will counter it..

so intelligent key (about bloody time)

push button start

radar cruise control

bluetooth

mp3 cd

aux in

as for the interior i think its on par if not better then bmw's.. they do come in different colours and finishes.. also love the new dash *drools*

to me the interior, dash lighting and seat design is on par with mercs... certainly a lot better than bmws , feels much more european than japanese... i didnt get a change to drive it as it's unregistered, sat in it for a while and loved it... the silver line on the boot lead isnt a spoiler, u can either repair it to the body colour or use an aftermarket spoiler to cover it, certainly a lot better than the "pimple" camera on the V35s. only if it was cheaper... :)

give it time, they will drop sharply in price over the next year and a half after it is officially up for import for those that can wait.

For those that can't, like me, will be stuck paying well over the odds :)

My brochure also says it has 4WAS. Only in the SP and S models.

A heap of ergonomic design - somehow lining up side mirrors, with steering, with seat position. Also rear passengers sit at similar angles to the driver and front passenger.

So that what I can mae out at least.

Colors:

Red A54

3 shades of grey

a) K57 (similar to Pewter) b) Graphite K52, c) light silver K23

White QX1

Black KH3

Blue B21

  • 2 weeks later...

in case anyone's interested, here's a video review of the current g37 in the US. looks the same as the v36 pictures except for the rear end which looks a lot better. this is the first part of the review only.

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
