Thanks for resistor, works fine.

Here's a simple Injector calibration calculator for the ECUTALK. Refer to here for correct procedure when calibrating.

if you have microsd cards uve verified to work, if u could post the brand/capacity and speed. keeping a list in this thread on pga, just compiling a list of working cards (though id assume most cards work unless told otherwise)

btw, have decided not to do another batch of displays in the short term (probably not till next year if i do), need time to work on the firmware rather than making the displays, so if ive told anyone therell be another batch at end of year there wont be any more - ive still got around 15 of this batch left

will probably make a batch of usb consult interfaces as people still have to pay >$100 for one (or use usb/serial adaptor) which is a bit much for something everyone (who doesnt have a lcd display!) should have.

hey man. loving your work really!

Im in NZ, and was only after a consult cable and some sort of software to run it on my laptop as im trying to diagnose a few fault codes. Whats the best price ya can offer me??

it already is the best price, im not making these for profit. im designing some usb consult cables at the moment which might be available in a month, around $50

  • 2 weeks later...

and thats the last display of this batch sold, have donated $145 for the 29 purchases in this GB

hope to make another batch of displays at some point, but not before the issues with the enclosures are resolved. check the website every couple of months to see if there are firmware updates

anyone who wants to be put on the waiting list for a display for next batch, either pm me here or send email to peter @ ecutalk.com (with link to your forum profile) and ill add you to the list and notify you when next batch is done

in the meantime ive got a batch of USB consult cables on the way (and serial ones to follow in a few weeks), although the AUD drops made it hard to keep costs down, should have USB around $60 (usb memory stick 'with cord out the end' style) and serial $45 (circuit in connector style like last lot). will post another thread for them when available

Any progress on these?

im getting the cable part (ie cable + consult connector) cut/assembled elsewhere and i should have them in the week starting 8 december - then just a matter for me to attach the PCB to the other end etc.

on the issue of some peoples enclosures deforming in heat (ive already emailed everyone about this):

we've only had a mild (25C) sunny day at best (today is 35 but mostly cloudy) since i received 30 enclosures of a few different materials to try out, so it has been a bit hard to test, but in direct sunlight on the 25C day, of the 3 different enclosures, 1 'opened' up about 6mm on one side, and the other 2 opened only a mm or two - assuming they werent already opened slightly to begin with - so then neither of the enclosures are significantly better than the current one probably (and next hot and sunny day ill test them all out together and compare to current one - im not sure yet if they are any better than it)

but whether theyre better or not, i can send them out as replacements for anyone who wants one, and hopefully if theyre kept out of direct sunlight and hopefully any other intense heat, theyll survive well enough until i get ones that are better suited. 10 are white, 20 are black, so those with blue lcd may want the white box (though i dont imagine ill get any other white ones)

still working on alternative ones though (and wont be making another batch of displays until i have a suitable enclosure)

I dont know how big your enclosures are but i do remember seeing some alloy ones at jaycar (dont know if you have jaycar stores in nsw) maybe they will have to be your final option.

Hey, Dumb question, will this work in an HR31 with an RB25DET being run by an R32 ECM? I have the consult port and the consult software and this works O/K.

Thank Wogboy.

ok so i got a black polycarbonate enclosure to test out, its good for another 50C on top of the normal ones, and so i left it with the others in the sun in my car yesterday. internal air temp was ~55, and the enclosures themselves were 90C on the dash.

the 2 normal plastic ones fully opened up. one 'hi temp' ABS deformed one one side, but didnt fully unbend, and the good news, the polycarbonate one was absolutely fine.

the only downside of the polycarbonate one is that its a gloss finish (like phones etc that u get fingerprints on), and you notice scratches a bit more, but i dont think anyone would mind that.

ive got about 25 enclosures then i can send out to people to use in the meantime, but ill aim to get a batch of polycarbonate ones (unless i can get them done locally), hopefully within next couple months (not sure what the lead times are).

ill send email around to everyone today just asking anyone with a deformed enclosure to confirm their address and ill send another out (obviously keep it out of direct sunlight etc until the final enclosures arrive).

  • 1 month later...

ive put in an order for the black polycarbonate enclosures, which i should have around mid-end February, so i can send replacements for anyone having issues with heat/deforming, and also one step closer for making the next batch of displays.

    • So yes. All of them. Something like 98% of all fuel in the USA has 10% ethanol: https://afdc.energy.gov/fuels/ethanol-fuel-basics It's labelled as like, AKI, 87, 91, 93 with an E10 or E5 or E15 label on the pump. At a certain point, it's not just "E10" instead of 91. It is 91, 95, 98, and all of them have 10% Ethanol in them. You can also get E85 and E30 which is why you do see some people rolling around with E30 tunes in them.
    • Thanks for the response. This is an 04 EP3 Type R. JDM spec. Fairly certain they're just basic BC racing coils. I do plan to keep as the ride quality on stock I've been told is pretty meh given Sydney roads. If I were to go down that avenue, does NSW require them to be a certain spec (close to original) etc?
    • Should have asked what is the car?
    • I've had two super conflicting experiences with blue slips. My 30 year old E39 waltzed through with no issues but my brother in law was knocked back on 12 y/o 3 series due to wiper blades and some cracking in a control arm bush.  What kind of coil overs? Do you want to keep them after?  If it was me I'd get some dirt cheap shocks and springs from eBay or scumtree. Not ideal but will get you over the line and might even be less than $1k.
    • Hey guys,  Way back when (about 15yrs plus), I picked up a beautiful set of Tein 'Super Racing Spec Circuit Master RE' coilovers from Russman. I have legit never fitted them to my car, as it was garaged indefinitely while i bought a house Yada Yada. They look brand new! Anyway its time to pick up where I left off, and have started doing some khanacross and am booked in for a hill climb next month. The car has some hard af Nismo shocks in ATM, which has me wanting to upgrade again, and now I am left wondering if it's worth having these teins rebuilt? I think they where an ok shock back then, but how do they compare to what's on the market now?  Shockworks/mca are 2800+, and I am sure they are great. But if I can have these rebuilt and be better than, say, a set of bc's for around the cost of bc's, I would be happy with the performance v cost trade off.  If they are considered outdated and rubbish these days, so be it, I'll put them on the shelf and be happy to look at the pretty green colour while I save for the SW/MCA option. Grateful for your thoughts on the matter, and suggestions on who could do the rebuild if it's a worthwhile pursuit.  cheers, Rowdy.
